Title: FeralHeart crashes whenever I try to load a Height Map for the map I'm building?
Post by: KSpain on April 03, 2012, 11:43:37 pm
Whenever I try to load the .png file into the Map Maker the whole game crashes!  But when I add the Terrain Mask its perfectly fine!  PLEASE help its my first map and I'm trying to do a good job.  And just so you know I DID use the Map Making tutorial.

You need to check that your heightmap is in Greyscale mode, it WILL crash if its not. Also make sure its one layer 513x513 too.

Also, check and see if adding or removing, based on what you currently do, Terrain at the end of the save. I.e CheesepuffTerrain.png

I've also heard that changing the map to 512x512 works for some people as well as changing the name to something less common.

Are you using Gimp?

When you go to create a new image, go under the advanced options and select "grey-scale". White wil be the highest point in your map, black lowest, all shades of grey inbetween. If you've already made your map with colors and need to make it greyscale, Go up to the top and do Image>Mode>greyscale instead of RGB. Again, this is how it works on Gimp.
