Title: How do you delete something you posted?

I want to delete a post how do I do that?

You're not allowed. Only mods and admins are allowed to delete posts, and even then, they usually just lock them.

What CloudFish said, but you can modify the post if you don't want the message to show up anymore.  Just click the 'Modify' button beside the 'Quote' button in the top right hand corner of your post.
