I just recently started playing FH, and both the homepage, everything and everyone have shapes missing out of them, I also get booted from the game at random and when I try to create a wolf character, the message that comes up says something like this; " FeralHeart.exe has stopped working". Why is this? Is there anyway to fix it?
-
You probably have a few files missing, but it could be useful if you could screenshot some of the problems and upload them so we can see what the problem looks like.
I suggest uninstalling FeralHeart, deleting the FeralHeart folder from your C drive, and reinstalling, as you may have a few files missing or bugging.
If this doesn't work, add some screenies to your post.
-
Also be sure you don't have other programs up while installing, as this could hinder the process.
-
Okay, I'll try that. Thanks lots. And if this doesn't work I'll post screenies.
-
Hmm, now it isn't letting me download it.
-
What's it saying when you try to download it?
-
Never mind I re-downloaded it, but id did nothing. Here is a screenie; (http://i1270.photobucket.com/albums/jj612/shakira_402/Capture.png)

That is strange 0.0 I thought you said you couldn't download it. Anyways, if you got it to download and it's doing that, go into the feral heart folder and make sure you have all these files in it:
Exports
Media
bulletin.cgf
cg.dll
config.good
emoteHotkeys.cfg
FeralHeart
FH
flavourtext.cfg
markings.cfg
I'm pretty sure those ones are manditory if not for the markings/character area in the game. Make sure you have those. Like stated in earlier posts you may be missing some files.
-
Okay i'll try that. Thanks.
-
No problem. If you have all those ill give you the next set of files just to make sure.
-
I don't have all those files. I'm almost positive I downloaded it right, but I only have FeralHeart.
-
So the only one you have is the feral heart one and it shows a white box with 3 paw prints in it? and thats ALL thats in the fh folder?
-
Yes.
-
May I ask what folder you are looking in? Are you looking in the folder from the start menu or the one in My Computer? (Assuming you are using Windows)
-
In my computer.
-
That is a problem then. Can you show a screenshot or tell me what happens when you right-click on it?
-
A menu comes up.
-
Right click the feral heart icon on your desktop and click open file location and tell me if you see any of the files i listed
-
yes I have them all.
-
Hmmmm........ I have no idea. Maybe one of the files is bugged. Try uninstalling the game then download the game torrent. If that doesn't work then uninstall it and try downloading the patch instead.
-
What will torrenting do?
-
Idk. It is just the recommended download for the game over the regular download.

Follow Red's tutorial here: http://feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=10423.msg144821#msg144821 (http://feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=10423.msg144821#msg144821)

If your computer is an older model, it may not support the system requirements. My computer is an older Dell 1200, and for the first dozen or so times I started FeralHeart, this happened. Eventually, though, it behaved. Try installing FeralHeart and not FeralHeart+.
-
Ive only downloaded FH. I'm pretty sure my computer is fairly new.
-
Have you tried uninstalling and redownloading torrent or uninstalling and redownloading patch?
-
No I haven't, so if I just delete it is that uninstalling it?
-
No uninstalling is uninstalling the game from your computer and removing left over folders. But did u get to try out what i posted up above for Reds tutorial? He has exact type of image with missing pixels etc. Try that first~
-
Okay I'll try that. Thank you.
-
Hmm, Ive tried everything there except for updating my graphics card, I'm not sure how to do that. Does anyone here know?
-
Im pretty sure Red Explains it here: http://feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&lang=en&jfile=index.php&topic=514.0 (http://feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&lang=en&jfile=index.php&topic=514.0)

The more I look over this, the more I think it is a computer problem. You say even the homepage looks strange? It seems like your graphics card is bugging.
May need to update. What year is your computer?
-
So you haven't actually uninstalled it then reinstalled?
Seeing as it's most likely a problem with the FeralHeart files, you'll definitely need to uninstall the whole program (I do this by getting up the Add/Remove Programs from the Start Menu then finding the program, right clicking and uninstalling, though this may only be the case for Acer computers), then go to your C drive, find the FeralHeart folder and delete that and anything else that might be related to FeralHeart (other than pictures and such).
Then reinstall, but make sure you have nothing FeralHeart-related on your computer before doing so, or else it may not create a new FeralHeart folder for you, which could be the problem.
-
I think I'll try updating my graphics card. Does anyone know how to do that on Windows 8? Also I'm using Windows 8 consumer preview, this might be the problem.
-
err, yea possibly, dont really know windows 8
-
Does FeralHeart even work for Windows 8? That might be the problem. o.e
-
Hmm, that could possibly be the problem. I think I will be switching to windows 7 again soon, I'll see if that helps.
-
I wouldn't see why it wouldn't work for Windows 8. Have you tried manually updating DirectX and C++? Can't remember if Red's covered that in this post already or not.
-
I'm not sure, I may not be doing it right. Is it the same as switching from Direct3dx or whatever it was, to OpenGL?
-
No it's going to the DirectX website and manually installing its updates. Same with the C++.
Not sure on the C++ but I can help with DirectX

-
Thank you I'll try that. ?
-
Well that didn't work either. -_-;
-
I think I figured out the problem, It's that FH doesn't fully support Windows 8 consumer preview.
