As a map maker, I put a LOT of time into picking a soundtrack that will suit the mood and atmosphere of the created land. And I mean sometimes hours running through the maps listening to different tracks trying to suit the map.
And so when I'm hosting a roleplay or visiting the map of a request to make sure everyone is able view and hear everything, a user will say, "I keep the music off," and I enter a state of horrification and annoyance.
I always look forward to music in downloaded maps, and figure people intend others to want to enjoy the full experience.
My question for discussion? Do you simply ignore the mp3 files placed in map downloads, or are you one who looks forward to seeing what kind of music the map maker has selected for their creation?

I don't download many maps, but if I do I do turn the music up for a bit to see if there is custom music in a map, I think it makes things interesting, unless I'm trying to listen to music, then it just clashes and gets a little frustrating XD

I always look forward to music, most of the time its annoying cuz u get those maps that are like punkrock screaming ppl XD but i lovee maps with soothing music :) I always place the best music to suit my map

Normally if I'm downloading a map, I'll be sure to get the music because it's giving credit to the mapmaker that took the time to choose that music to compliment the map. There are always tracks that get turned down though because they really aren't that suiting... I think that the Darklore Territories has the best music for the main entrance area though. It sounds like music I'd hear on Xena Warrior Princess which is one of my favorite tv shows of all time and so it's really nice to waltz on in there once in a while just to sit and listen.

I personally enjoy the music in maps, but sometimes the music doesn't work for me, as in I literally cannot hear it. Some of the maps I download come with music, and sometimes the music works, sometimes it doesn't. So it's not that I don't want to hear it, it's just that sometimes I can't, and I feel like I'm really missing out. :(

I always look to see if a map has music in it o3o As soon as a I download it.
But yeah I'm one of those people who spend a ton of time looking for tracks for a map. o3o Then I take the time and clip them all in mediafire to make a single mp3, so it's rather sad when I hear people dun bother listening to it. xD

I haven't downloaded maps in a long time because I don't normally go ingame. When people put rock/screamo music in their maps I hate it. Most of the time, though, I enjoy listening to custom soundtracks.

Whenever I download a map, I'll listen to the music for a bit. But usually while playing to FH I listen to my own music. /that was worded awkwardly

Can understand not wanting to have music on at all times, just supposed is owed to map maker to at least give a chance on what they want the feel to be. Could change entire mood of map.
-
I have yet to download any maps, but I know when I do that I'll have my music on because I'm always interested in what sort of music someone else picks out. If it isn't of my tastes, I'll just turn the music down or off. :3

I'm going to create a disco map and I need a name for it so far I've got:
Panic At The Disco Map
My Personal Moon Disco Map
Serenity's Disco Map
Disco Map
The song is My Personal Moon By Madison Park I don't care if people turn off the volume cause maybe their listening to their own music and I'm glad they're enjoying it. ;)

I enjoy custom music in maps. I like the extra effort players put into maps that make it special. Not that the regular fh music isn't nice, but there are way better songs suited out there. :)
