Title: More dots to freely roam your mini map?
Post by: ElementalQuest on June 18, 2012, 04:11:28 pm
So, everyone know that when you friend someone, they get a yellow dot on your mini map so you can stalk them :3,  but what about your group-mates? Why can't they get a nice little green dot to tell you where you Alpha Wolf is, or where your cubs wandered off to? Which is why I propose this:

We add more dots to our mini maps.

For example, if I joined a Group called "Supercalafragalisticexpaladocious' Wolf Pack", then Green dots would flood your mini map telling you where all your new group-mates are.

I know I get lost, a lot, when I'm trying to follow people. The maps can be a little hard to navigate sometimes. So why not be able to 'sticky' somebody, which will allow you to give them a Red dot for a short period of time. (Minute, thirty seconds, and hour, maybe even forever?).

Of course, both options would be toggle-able. Group dots under the "Group" section and 'Sticky' dots under someones playercard/bio place.

What are your thoughts on something like this being implemented?

Awesome idea. I love it. I haven't ever thought about this before. I think it'd be useful and neat to have.

Now if only it can be convinced to be implemented... :P

I love this idea. It would make a lot of things so much easier. I certainly hope it gets considered for game use. ^^

Good Idea. The coding would be a lot like as if they were added as a friend (except like different friends for the character). A coding error that would maybe happen if not done right would display all of the groups' you're in, even if you're on a different character is/isn't in a group (This coding error would be like where your friends are in the map).

Now we just need to try and get Kovu to incorporate this into the game, hopefully without too many first-try errors.

This idea is perfect and I salute you.

This is a good and helpful idea. One negative I can think of is that small maps could be flooded with dots quite easily, but I guess it wouldn't be too bad. :3

I believe this would be great especially for role plays with huge maps finding your group members can be hard and having something like this implemented to the game would save users having to fill their friends list with people just to find them. Great idea just hope Kov does something like this for us in the future.

I agree fully, since I used to be part of a group with a large map, so finding someone to roleplay with was nearly impossible.
I can think of a lot of minor problems with it, like someone stickying someone to stalk them, but I'm sure blocking could stop that, too.

Wow, what a great idea, friend. I'm surprised I haven't seen this before. I would definitely like to see this implemented sometime in the future, along with many more ideas... maybe someday.

I agree with this idea.  It would be awesome if they added this to the game.

I agree, you should add that on different color with the dots your friends would be indicated too?

Just had an idea to add to this idea - maybe you could toggle which dots you see and which you don't? To prevent maps from getting cluttered with dots there could be and option on the side of the heightmap or somewhere that would allow you to choose which dots you want to see at the time, and which you don't. :3

I love this idea. I hate how currently in order to have a dot on your minimap you need to friend that whole user. What if you don't want to friend them?
Plus, I do believe Kovu was starting to get at this when he implemented the "Find" thingy for group members. I wish he hadn't given up on FH so he could implement your wonderful idea!

I like the green dot idea. :0 I'd never thought of that before. Would love to see it in-game!

Unfortunately, until we can get back the source code, no changes can incorporated into the game. As lovely an idea as this is, the Staff just don't have the ability to change anything.

I am not too sure on how to read the time-stamps on this thread, and do please forgive me on this. Though if I am not mistaken this is a old thread. I might try to avoid messaging in it if it is old.

If I am wrong I greatly apologize.

As Sietara mentioned this thread is about 3 years old, do not necro old threads.
