Hello, i'm a noobie here. Downloaded this game early this morning, started it up but right after i entered the gameplay only like 5 seconds passed before lost connection to mapserver popped up ;[ Sometimes when i finally get to the entrance leading to another map it starts "reconnecting" and i lose connection to main server.
I'm no computer wiz so use laymen terms for me porfavor?
i did read the big help thread that red had posted but it didn't really solve anything for me, just told me to wait it out which i did all day. tried it after waiting a couple of hours inbetween. I tried doing a few things myself as well to try and get it working, (updating drivers and checking my internet connection, adding it as an exception in my firewall, restarting my computer and modem) but like i said i'm no wiz.
So if anyone has any ideas or explanations throw them at me? i'd be grateful ^^ Seems like it'd be a fun game, hoping i don't have to give it up.

Depending on where you were trying to go it could have been server related. Fluorite plains during prime-time hours is bad place to get to, as is Bonfire and sometimes the Cape.
The server has also been experiencing problems as of late. But as far as this goes, it sounds like it's a connection problem. Know you probably have, but check your modem, make sure everything's connected/plugged in well.
Also note you somewhat need a fast internet service to plug through this game. So prease check that also.
Not much to tell you to help if you've follow the help thread. Perhaps try smaller less populated maps, like Lonely cave and last cave.

yea i've heard that it can get crowded in some areas at times. But i couldn't get past the lonelycave/ southpole cause the problem kept happening. i tried making different characters, changing settings, trying on a different computer but still the same thing :[
i checked my modem so much XD all i know is i have an excellent signal strength right now and a latency of 77ms if that helps?

Is it just plain not working, or is it lag?
If lag, the solution may be updating your video card/graphic card to the newest version.

Sounds like it's connecting and losing connection rapidly. I'm not sure how to deal with this besides messing with connection settings. Do you have any other things that stream large amounts of data? PS3/360/Wii? Another computer or laptop?

no, i don't believe it is lag, i can move around just fine. Just after a couple of minutes a box appears and says "reconnecting" then "lost connection to map server" then im just stuck running around in the same map, i can't exit and there are no other players.

@cloudfish that's odd, how would i change the connection settings? lol im stoopid :<
And nu, i have no gaming consoles and i have a laptop but i didn't have it on when i was doing this until i went to try and see if i had better luck with it. I don't use it often cause its basically falling apart lol.

Do you have other programs up when running FH?
Connection settings could be thing you have to take up with service provider, but you can try resting modem a few times.
Otherwise it kind of depends on what kind of service you haves.

no i made sure to try running it by itself to see if that fixed the problem earlier. i do turn the modem off and leave it off for a while before plugging it back up but no change.
I was wondering if maybe the amount of ram i have is the problem? but idk too much about that.

Hm. don't think ram should mess with it too much less you have a large amount.
am not really sure. can try performing clean sweep and see if it fixes, but I am not sure so much how to direct you to do this.

sorry, xD a clean sweep is like clearing unwanted or unused programs and stuff from the computer? not too sure how to go about that. has that fixed problems like this before? =o

Well i just tried it again and this is the first time i got a bad token message, not sure what that means, but i think i saw something about it on the big help thread. imma go check it out.

meh pretty much had to do with the same thing slash maybe too crowded, anyway i tried again and got the failed to connect with mapserver again. *sadface*

if computer is from 2002, then i can imagine yes, its going to have problems with game for sure. thought based more on type of connection it can transmit more so than anything. 2002 wasn't originally built with wireless modems in mind, they rely more on the connected, wired by Ethernet cables.

my laptop is a 2007 and i'm having the same issue. should i try hooking up to the modem itself? i've no idea where i put my ethernet cable, haven't seen it in years D:

Try to uninstall, run a disk cleanup, then reinstall. Tell me your results from that.
And for future reference, you can modify/edit your last post by clicking the "Modify" button in the top right corner of your post. Posting more then once in a row is usually discouraged here.

just reinstalled the game after doing a disk cleanup and still failed to connect to map server after a few moments

Just wanted to do a quick update, tried hooking up directly to the modem with a Ethernet cable and it didn't work ~sigh~ i'm pretty lost as to what else i should do.

if you were wondering a 'bad token' is where it's just timed out from loading.

Red (Administrator): Failed to connect to map server is a message you also can get while changing maps and entering portals in the game. It's usually nothing severe either, and as worst, your character might be stuck in that map until there's a reset of the map server process. Another issue similar to this can be if you get the loading screen after chooseing a character, but it never loads. Most of the time it should be followed by this "failed to connect" message. If you try to choose another character that isn't placed in the same map, it sometimes let you play since every map in the game, has it's own server process. Sometimes the server needs to be restarted in order to fetch some stuck characters. If you had characters that's been stuck for weeks, you should contact the staff.

Just an update
No response from staff yet, maybe i sent the message wrong? idk. I tried making another account to see if that was the issue but it wasn't.

if you haven't gotten response from staff, go to profile and change your forum name, as this could interfer with them getting back to you.
also, don't remember if we've addressed this, but i think we have, you've let your firewall down for the game yes?
have you tried running game as an admin? right-clicking and doing so?

oh oki, someone might have the same name as me and it may be an issue with me getting messages or something?
and yes, i've turned off firewall and ran as admin many times and no go
I just ran a pingplotter test, i started getting packet losses at the 13th hop. by the time it gets to the 23rd hop i have 100% packet loss and destination address unreachable. though im having some rainy weather so i don't know if it is effecting it or not.

aye, the forum can't register different users (without a annoying process of adding buddies) with the same forumname
rainy weather can effect your net, yes.
though you should wait until the rain's cleared up and run it again, sounding like it may be the net speed kickin' you

eh, i suppose, try messaging one you didn't message last time though
and it could be, i know when i'm not getting enough bandwidth because other people are using the same modem as i am, we have slower speeds and i can't connect. i also know i haven't been able to play well when it's raining. so yes, this could be the problem

Im disconnectin in acsension island when im in southpole its fine just when im going to acsension island the whole game crashes :o

hmm i don't have much experience with this game to know what to do about your situation bianca. did you try with another character? or perhaps that map is really crowded, although if your entire game crashed it could be another issue

Yea i tried with a another and it crashed too but the problem is solved ty anyways ^^ i guess it was just growed becus i waited a few mins and logged on again and it worked.

Hmm, try contacting a moderator before contacting an administrator. Usually admins will have loads os messages piled up so it will take them a while to answer, so your best bet is a mod....I suggest Wolffox. c:
Also, is there a lock on your Internet connection? If there is other people really couldn't be using it unless you gave them the code. If you don't have a lock, I suggest setting one up. :3

yea i have it so you have to have a passphrase to access internet. and thank you :) red just replied to me, im just glad they got it, nervous i sent it to the wrong person or summin haha. anyway red had said
"Failed to connect to map server message is most of the time due to the map ON the server itself. If you keep getting this message over and over several times in a row to the same map, the map itself on the server has most likely frozen and you'd need to wait until we had a server restart/reset which we had yesterday I believe.
This tends to happen a lot more to custom maps than the official ones. Buut all you can really do is wait and pick another character until the map works again."
SO i guess im just not meant to play this game :( ever since i downloaded 4 days ago i had this prollem and if it isn't fixed by now, even after a restart of the server, im just gonna have to give it up. i seem to be the only one having this ongoing issue and there isn't really anything anyone can do about it i guess *sighs* but at least i can make some pretty cool looking characters xD just won't be able to use em.

Because you're not even able to sit in lonely cave are you?
Red may be brushing this off as a server error, though I believe its a problem to do with your net.

By the way, the server is having general software and performance issues since the last weekend. Its the chat, the game play, changing maps, changing chars, login in and crashes that are currently caused by the server.

oh i can sit in there alright, just all alone and i can't leave xD yey fuuuun. but really i've been recording myself running around and doing crazyyy stuff to keep myself entertained. makin fun lil vids with movie maker.
But yea, red just responded again saying this issue may be with my connection, but idk what else to do :( as for speed i can't afford to get a faster internet, i have my isp's standard dsl. 1.5 mbps i believe but i'm not sure.

update= Well i've come to the conclusion that its my internet connection speed that's not cutting it. Guess i won't be able to join you guys after all. Maybe on rare occasions if i ever get my hands on my girlfriends computer lol. or if i talk my dad into getting us better internet connection, highly unlikely. either way, it was a pleasure having all of you reply with advice, i really do appreciate it :]

Is there something wrong with the FeralHeart plus maps? Or is it just me :o..
Because i did go too the Ficho Caverns and it doesnt want to load,
It says Cant connect to the map wanna try again.
