What are these little thingys? What do they do? Do they upgrade the Game?

Yep They Uprade The Game And Its Important To have Them :D But If Your New And Just Downloaded The Game The Patch Doesnt Matter :)

just install em and they give you new maps n such :3

Seeing as you just joined, you will already have the newest patch. Basically, when the game gets new content, a patch is put out for those with the old version of the game, and the game download is updated to this new version as well, so any one who joins after the latest patch was released already has it on their FH.
