so i made a map pair on gimp and the mask will work but the height map wont. i used greyscale its a png and i saved it as _____terrain.... i need help!!1

Did you type the name right as in capital letters and lack thereof?
Also did you flatten image or layers? I don't know much about the flatten thing, but apparently if you don't, it can sometimes cause errors

yeah i did flatten it and all... and cpitalized it....and its 513 by 513

Heightmaps have to be 513 x 513, .png, grayscale, only one layer and always one layer so flattening images won't work and no alpha channel.

Make sure that when you earse it theres nothing transparent underneath it, also make sure there is no transparency right now.

In gimp, go to Layers then Transparency Then Remove Alpha Channel.

Right click on the layer (should be the only layer you have) and look towards the bottom. If you have the option to "remove alpha layer" then do it.

That was an issue which I was stuck on for a looong time. I used layers with alpha channels for all my height maps I made in gimp, and restarted them so many times trying to isolate the issue. I hadn't for quite a while.

also the map maker wont let me move around the full map... it only shows me 1/20 when i move around but the birdeye veiw shows the full map...wht should i do?
the alpha channel has been off the whole time!!! man....>.< ive tried as much as i could come up with...

Ooh! Heres something that works for me~ x3. I forgot to add it.. XDD
Copy-paste the heightmap that you made into the Watermill terrain- after opening that up of course.
After you rename 'watermillTerrain.png' to '_____Terrain.png', click 'save as' and flatten the layers, then try to open it up.

So it's probably the one layer thing. When you get done with the heightmap, flatten it and then copy it and paste it into another document, making sure it's 513 x 513, grayscale and no alpha channel. Then export it as however you want it, but as a .png. Flattening or merging the layers does not work, it has to be one layer all throughout the process.

If you can't get it to work, if you have the heightmap you can send it to me and I can get it so it will work.

Dun triple post just clickie "modify" button. To flatten it just right click the top layor and click anchor

My friend told me you have to copy-paste the mask and the terrain into media-terrain-textures. i hope that is helping you. Because i have got the same problem. i try to load my height map (one is very big the other is 513 513) and fh crashes. -.-'
