Title: Whats your RP style?
Post by: Nowe on August 15, 2012, 10:56:30 pm
I prefer Semi Literate over all because I can't stand people using bad grammar in a RP then spamming the fixes like  Howled* and such. I dislike Literate ones since I keep meeting people who are so stuck up and rude its turned me off from literate RPs.

So what do you prefer? No literacy, Semi Literate or, Literate.

Well .. I prefer RP with my close friends to no one is correcting each other as if they were teachers! Most also do not like people who write it all wrong (example she runin the form to the left the rithg) plus I just HATE people who will not let you join a group because your way of writing! is not a bit fair to be choosing people like that, so thats why I hate a samples!
I do prefer Semi-realistic no literate

My style in-game would be literate.
I like roleplays where it takes at least three or two 'FH Posts' average to finish your roleplay post, and no, I don't mind people correcting me at all, infact I think it's good that people correct me and I correct them~ x3. Helps us learn from our mistakes!

Literate.

Usually at least a few paragraphs per post. I'm honestly at a point where I don't think I could type with "text talk". I've tried to RP in an illiterate way. I can't xD I've found it hard to get a really good story going with one sentence posts, and I've found that most literate RPs are longterm. And I really don't find that people grammar nazi you by correcting your posts. That's just... annoying, for lack of a better word. Perhaps with friends, though among friends it's all in good fun most of the time.

I play the game to create and RP and everything, but I also do so to become a better writer. And so far? it's working quite well.

Its fine to correct someone I see no issue with it but, when people lash out and cuss up a storm over it thats when it gets bad XD I see it one too many times unfortunately.

I guess I like semi-literate RP style. I have never been too picky about how people RP as long as I can understand what they are saying (as in no slang or gibberish), it goes with the story, and we're all having fun that's all that matters to me. As for the people who run around correcting people I think thats unnecessary and a bit obnoxious most of the time. Obviously if the person has enough of an understanding to correct someone then they understood what they said so why waste time correcting people? It's a game not school let people learn how to use proper grammar and punctuation on their own time. I have typos very often because I use two laptops and one is very laggy sometimes so I get misspells up the wazoo and its annoying when people correct things that I obviously know are wrong. Not everyone has perfect spelling for many reasons especially since English is a second language for many FeralHeart users. Mistakes are expected so why fuss over that and just get to the RPing and action people ;)
When I am not RPing regular casual chatting is fine too.

My RP style is literate. Just because I can't stand bad grammar and text-talk.

I generally prefer literate. If I'm out-of-character I may use symbols to represent my randomness, especially in-game, but if I'm roleplaying I stick to literacy. I used to be illiterate a good long time ago, but now that I've roleplayed using literacy it's too hard to get rid of the urge to use paragraphs and complete sentences xD
It irks me sometimes when I see loads of incorrect grammar and punctuation-- typos I don't mind, but constant illiteracy and text-talk just gets on my nerves a bit. I use an HP laptop that lags the in-game chatbox, and sometimes it's hard for me to type without misspelling things, but I usually only get online to goof off and explore, though I enjoy a roleplay or two once and a while. c:

I prefer literate, though I don't mind Semi-Literate. It's when people start making sentences like: "stab u der r kil eat guts" That I start to really get worried... Basically, as long as I can understand people with relative ease, I don't mind...

I actually like to RP in a "play" style.  It's easier and quicker and you can still get your point across.  Like, an example (with generic names!):

Dude: Oh, just great, he blew up!  *sighs and shakes head*
Dudette: Well, now what are we going to do, eh?
Bob: *he shrugs, looking away.  He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath* We ride.

I dunno, I just like doing that.  It's alot quicker.

 I prefer Semi-Literate.

RPs that aren't literate are ones I avoid. Because, how am I supposed to understand: -ran toords the hug roke hidding-

But then again, I also can't stand very literate RPs. This is because a lot of the time, if you write something shorter than 3 sentences, they freak out because of how small your RP line is. Then, they start cussing you out saying you aren't literate. And don't get me started about Rp samples. Most of the time, they judge you because you spell 1 or 2 things incorrectly. Thats why I like Semi-Literate RPs. You don't have to be EXTREMLY literate, but you aren't unliterate.

Personally, I prefer literate Rps. I have been with stuck-up literate role players, but if the Rp I'm in is strict , I can usually avoid meeting those people. If I'm seriously role playing, I can only Rp with literate people, since I can't stand the simple style that would be like '*runs away*' (Plus I'm a grammar nazi, so I get annoyed by people's grammar mistakes xD). On the other hand, if I'm not seriously Rping (like just derping around o3o), then, obviously, I use the simpler Rp style. :3

But, yeah, that's just me. ouo

I like doing RP but I'm very reluctant to start with someone first because I don't know what their style is like or if they're even in RP at all. I prefer letting others approach me first (unless I'm feeling brave) and see if they're the illiterate, semi-literate or literate type.
Personally, I go for semi-literate, because I can be detailed with punctuation and grammar and all that stuff, without having to write a paragraph that takes up the whole chat box, then wait for the person to read it and wait for them to write a reply that's a paragraph long too! I appreciate people being literate RPers, but it can be slow and time consuming.

EDIT: Also, I'm very picky; I won't RP or interact with characters that my character wouldn't usually encounter. For example, if I'm on my grey wolf char, I won't RP with lions or jaguars because she wouldn't encounter them in her habitat. Ever.

I prefer literate, I don't really RP with "stuck-ups" or anything like that so it works out cause we all use literate styles, and we're not as strict as getting every single spelling correct and even if we make a spelling mistake or grammar-error, no one goes berserk XD

It makes the Rp seem more realistic and gives you more to respond to when it's your turn to post~

I prefer highly literate roleplays. o3o Sorry if that makes me sound rather stuck-up, its just that anything that demands less than a good effort tends to attract those people that just move along too quickly and things get jumbled.

Not that there's anything wrong with one-to-two liners. I just find it lacks... it just isn't fun to read or interact with to me. It's rare I have a good experience with semi-lit and below roleplays; nearly all just make me shut off my laptop and go outside (maybe I should do semi-lit and below more often).

I generally stick with Literate, I don't normally go off with something else. ~
I don't normally RP with friends either, I suppose I'd like something fresh. c:

I prefer semi-literate.I always roleplay in prose,
and the reason why I prefer to type up posts that can take up to three Feralheart posts on average is because I feel it gives the other player a bit more to interact on,
So I agree with Katsa.

Not that two line roleplays are a bad thing,
but I'm gonna admit that it kind of irritates me when the other roleplayer just types two lines after you did like, an entire paragraph, ((With the exception that they can't think of a good idea/don't have a lot of time/writer's block)),
because it feels like you are doing all the work in making the roleplay interesting.
But that's just my opinion. *w*

For me, it would have to be semi-literate. Any time i attempt to do literate, i end up mucking up my sentence and taking forever to type because of the pressure i feel everyone put's on me. I also can't stand illiterate roleplayer's... oh god, they drive me insane, Mostly because everyone seem's to be and 8 year old or a mate beggar. However, semi-lit is where i feel most at home, they're no annoying "txt" talker's, and every one isn't a wolf who's family was destroyed by lion's, or vice versa.

I tend to match the style of the person I role play with, in game there is no spell check and often stumble over some words.

I am a literate rper though

As for myself, I'm a literate paragraph roleplayer, though I equally enjoy realistic and fantasy roleplays. c: Even more if they merge those two elements.

When I roleplay, I usually like to be "literate". When I RP, I never type in "text" style ( "R u coming?" or "i will race u 2 the tree 4 fun") I sometimes have a hard time understanding what people are saying when they type in a text style.
