I have played WQ quite a long time. I got bored of it, and few days ago I tried it again. When I completed it, I got bored again. :P Oh well... It is worth trying!

It would be cool if WQ has more animations (different positions of sitting, etc.) and FH would have the ability to hunt like in WQ. And if I could choose, I'd take multiplayer away from WQ and focus on single player. MP doesn't work for me at all any more. And it's chat lexicon is annoying!

Well, that's just my opinion :D

I used to play WQ, but, then I got bored of the same old thing over and over again. Once you get to the summer den, then what? I wonder if they will ever add onto the game where your pups will actually grow up and help you hunt and stuff like that.... XD

Not that I don't like it, I do, but, I have problems with visiting people in Multiplayer, and the chat censoring is so annoying. :\

When I first played Wolf Quest I was like "OMG! THIS THE BEST GAME EVER!" But, no. Multiplayer chat sucks, Game gets boring quickly, and it allows like no creative stuff like, maybe some markings to make you character more different. Because on Multiplayer some werido said that I copied there wolf. What a werido. Moving on. Then I discovered Feral Heart I loved it, but I went out of it for a while now I am back in. So maybe same will happen with WQ. Who knows. But this what I think, now don't kill me.

Yeah.... Despite WQ's nice graphics, I'd prefer a game where you can chat a little more freely. ._.

WolfQuest was a very nice game, the graphics were amazing, I fell in love with the howls on there. <3
But, I eventually grew tired of it, due to limited chatting and things to do. ;n;
Yet WQ helped me discover FeralHeart. x3

I love this game! First it is a little bit difficult to find a mate but it's so nice, to have pups in Slough Creek!

I use to play WQ before I found IT and then FH
And I thoroughly enjoyed it, granted a lot more people played it then but yes it was fun.

I enjoyed the graphics as this was something completely different and unique for me and i'd never experienced 3D online multiplayer gaming like this before. And when slough creek was released it was like OMG the best thing going.

But then I found IT and then WQ kinda became a little lame and then when IT went down I returned to WQ and it was still fun although half the things had changed like you couldn't name your wolf and that sucked along with the fact that you couldn't type certain words which kinda took the edge off the in game RPing.

Then when FH came out I said goodbye to WQ and have ever since remained with FH although the other day I did wonder whether now that i'm a little bit older whether I could get all four of my pups to the summer den. So i downloaded WQ again and I am glad to say all four puppies made it to the summer den ^^

Since then I have been on and off it the reason is..

Well i do enjoy the game simply because the new features and scenery make the game more realistic and that's what I like so much about WQ but I can't stress how annoying it is trying to RP when you can't say simple words like 'he' or 'she'  and plus the fact you get idiots who run around going into the hunting zones making everyone crash. Another factor that really annoys me is you either glitch or crash every other five minutes or so haha xD

Another reason why I don't play WQ as much is because I have been majorly busy with exams and such that i've had to withdraw myself from all of my games.

But ye WQ was the highlight of my teenhood when I first found it and was an excellent game no doubt but I do think it has gone downhill since the first release.

This probably sounds like a rant and I didn't intend it to be/come of as if you're reading this but this is my opinion on the game ^^

I think the graphics on WQ are better than FH, but FH is a lot more fun, cause I can't get multiplayer to work on my WQ game..... but I don't really care 'bout that.

Simple really, all you do is kill/injure 3 wolves from different areas, you must keep on fighting them untill they die/give in. Then you go backwards from the 3rd killed wolf and this Looking For A Mate thing shows up. You go forwards and try to find a Dispersal Male/Female. I play wolfquest all  the time! PM me if you're having trouble

There's something wrong with the pup's left side of it's face in your pic. 0-0
It just shows how many glitches there are on the game.

Even though there are some odd glitches, it's still a great game to play. It reminds you how tough it is to be a wolf, or any other wild animal. c:

I actually hate WQ now... I used to love it, and I was the LEADER of the SpiritBloods. However, when they took away all of the words that were essential to RPing, all of my packmates left, and so did I, thus ending that pack. Now, because of the very limited chat, I hate WQ and never play it anymore. I now only play the single player.

Imello, thats what happened to me, but I still play Wolf Quest, hum, but I do wish we could say girl and  boy in it. xD. I like single player to especially when you get to take your pups on the final journey.

Post by: Miles101 on November 12, 2012, 12:47:19 am
I agree that the chat has gotten way too restrictive, to the point where normal English words cannot be spoken. This just goes to show that the WQ staff have zero trust in their community and therefore feel the need to place ridiculous limits on everyone so they don't have to deal with users who misbehave.

I play Single Player occasionally, but the pups are impossible to raise. The enemies are overpowered and impossible to kill :/

Ooo a WQ thread x3. I only like playing as the wolf(single player) because some kids get on there and try to yell or swear at me and can't xD its funny but also rude. So then I stopped multiplayer and awkwardly role played inside my mind with my wolf family. This game is fun only if you play single player :p

I adored how realistic the wolves looked, they had proper anatomy and the right shaped heads. Not like how some people make their characters look here :S But as said it is very boring. Having only 5 people in one multi player map is stupid and people only use multi player for RP so good luck finding people to just talk with X)

But i hope others have fun playing it, even if i did not.

Might be your firewall or internet connection. Mine started to suck a year or so back so I simply stopped trying to log on. XDD

A recent announcement on the forum sort of spells the end of WQ, in a sense. They've been cut of their grant money or some sorts, so they won't be able to get money for new episodes. Shame really.

Something else about taking out one of the chats, too. Can't remember which one, though.

I started hating it right after I downloaded the second part(the add on), I couldn't play WQ anymore and people we're starting to get by saying. "I'd call you certain names but it won't allow me." But I learned a trick recently for WQ, by using the chat auto capitalize X3

Agreed. Totally and completely. Plus, your name in Multiplayer is now your username, and you can barely say anything on that game anymore. I used to like that game, and now it's just horrible. It's boring, you can barely say anything, you really aren't able to roleplay, and it's slow. The only good thing about that game is the graphics. Single Player on the other hand was fine really, but it really got boring quite quickly.

Being a huge wolf lover, WolfQuest was awesome when I found it. The first part is a bit too boring through, where you have to spend like half an hour going to each territory. But getting to have pups is fun. Besides the fact that they get killed a lot. :( Once I was a white wolf so I found a white wolf mate, and we had white puppies. :D One was albino but I couldn't tell which one.
But I agree, WolfQuest is a bit boring. But if they make a new episode where your pups are grown up and are hunting and finding mates of their own I would start playing again.

It would be fun though, if FH and WQ combined! Like, it would be Feralheart but you could hunt and raise pups (that you wouldn't have to adopt) or Wolfquest where you can add markings and items! It'd be called FeralQuest. XD

I tried WQ a while ago. It would be fine if it weren't for the glitches. Been having a terrible time with them on my computer. Especially trying to pick stuff up. It just won't let me pick stuff up, or it is very picky. I get the distinct impression that WQ is putting all their funding into keeping chat "appropriate" and doing nothing to actually make the game itself better.

Also, instead of limiting the chat lexicon, they should have emote-only chat. At least experiment with it. It would be interesting to have someone snarl at you when you aren't sure precisely what they expect. Body language only I think would actually be fairly fun.

Question: When was the last non-security update done? And what was done in it? Anyone know how I can find out?

There won't be any more updates on anything. The Minnesota Zoo cut WQ's grant funding.
They have money to keep the servers open and forum up for a while, but otherwise, that's it. They aren't accepting donations much, either.

The reason WQ couldn't make anything great was A) The game engine they used, B) The fact that they had a tight budget and C) they threw multi-player in at the last minute. Plus there's also the fact that the game would have to be very specific in order to get more funding in the past.

They had to make a compromise. Make a good game? Or help make sure the game has suitable content to encourage more money to come their way? After hanging around and lurking there for several years, that's how I see it.

Makes sense. I feel for the administration, I really do. Must be hard making a game like that with minimal funding. That doesn't change the fact that it wasn't very high quality. Too bad it had to be that way.

You know, I think Rockstar or Bandai should make a wolf game. Not a fantasy one, but a true sim (or as true as can be accomplished). Once you get anyone who wants a wolf game to be "educational" or super-appropriate is going to run into some sim issues. And anyone who has a clue what Rockstar is about knows they don't give a rat about that stuff. Only problem is Rockstar would probably overdo it. Bandai, on the other hand, might be able to balance the scales a little better. Bandai has more that anime-ish feel that it should have, without getting excessive like Rockstar typically does. Of course, this is if I were to have a videogame about wolves tailored to my whims, which is completely unrealistic, I know. Still, if Rockstar or Bandai were to produce a wolf game, I am sure it would be awesome!

I do want to say that sometimes I start a new game just to mess around with some of the glitches. Once I just hunted at the bunny bush for an hour. (It's a bush that spits out never ending hares) by the end, there was just a bunch of dead hares around me. I look on Google for glitches to try... and they usually don't work.

I got one. Maybe it is specific to my computer, but often times I will be in perfect position to pickup/bite something, and nothing will happen. At all. Trust me, not a glitch you want to fine, but fortunately it doesn't seem to have affected you. Very frustrating, especially when you are trying to move the pups. I get so far, then I simply can't pick them up. Though I can usually chase most predators well enough. Don't even really need to attack them.

That's a common glitch where the pickup key would freeze up and not work. Basically, something happens where the code disables it or the game thinks you aren't in position so it wouldn't let you pick it up.

The bunny bush is my favorite spawn point when I'm bored because it plays a song that isn't often used. Though the music was something that often annoyed me in the game because the timing for it would always be off or it'd...well...IDK. It would just randomly switch to the bear encounter track even though there isn't any bear near me. 8|

Once I had chased the hares far from the bush (well, near dead tree) and then a carcass appeared. So there were 3 hares and an elk. Then a grizzly came to eat, and coyotes followed. Then like, 4 more carcasses appeared. And also there was my mate. It was really funny, so many animals, dead and alive. Coyotes kept on appearing so many times as well as the elk. I have some pics of it but I'm too lazy to post them.

Well, glad I am not the only one who has had to deal with the glitch. Too frustrating though, if I want to die, I would rather it be because I actually make a mistake, not because the game is poor quality. If a better version were to be made (which it sounds like IT was and Arokai will be), I would be interested in playing those. Sad thing that seems to happen with a lot of these games is that without a rating system, or desiring to keep any rating at a below Teen level, too much effort needs to be spent keeping the game appropriate, allowing less time to make the game enjoyable. FH seems to be balancing the two fairly well though. I think it would be better if a game were made where you just slapped on a Teen or Mature rating and focused entirely on enjoyment for everyone else, as long as there is a decent systematic PVP, because it wouldn't get enough attention w/o it.  And a strategic one, not like WQ where you just trade off bites, timing it with breath. If I were to make the game, I would do nothing to intentionally allow sexual behavior, but I wouldn't bother spending valuable time and effort trying to curb it either.

Wolfquest announced awhile back that they would be getting rid of the lexicon chat selection in multiplayer. Well, i think that is what may have happened today, go to your muliplayer list and you will see there is only ONE server open. (im ASSUMING that they are taking everything down to terminate the lexicon, or of course there may be a mass problem (lol... i kinda hope so)) not like it was the best game or anything, but it WAS my first rpg, some good memories. sad to see the lexicon go away for future players :'(

I really like this game, it "launched" me into FH. I have around 20 wolves, I tried to start a WQ blog... but I was lazy. No, not really lazy, after school I feel lazy to post...
The singleplayer is awesome, but doing the same thing again and again... so repetitive. >.> I can't get to MP. Before, I was able, but now... rarely works. RARELY! Like 3 in 3 months. Or even mooorreeeee.
I'm sad WQ can't support server and download. Sometimes, I think how a download is wasting money.

Also, most annoying glitch ever:

Happens in Slough Creek sometimes to me. I don't save too often, and for this glitch to stop you have to X out of WQ altogether. No saving. Can't press esc.

Same glich here. Thats why i hare entering the river. My comp block and have to restart it. The glitches are annoying. Like i was underground once. Anyway i love the game even though the glitches and lexicon limits. I play it cuz of the role play and hunting. I just gone back playing it and had a wonderful role play moments. It is still the best realastic wolf game for me.

I don't have WQ anymore and that picture really brings old memories... q3q The worst thing: they have money problem, there will be no WQ3 and we lost our beautiful lexicon chat! >.< I don't have it anymore, it wasn't my choice will it survive on my computer. Sigh, I can remember that good times, in both multiplayer and singleplayer... T.T

Wolfquest was my favorite game since last year :/ but I got bored of it and give up, I love the graphics and their textures but when it comes to multiplayer, I just lost it. The chatbox wont let me type anything. But thanks to Wolfquest it helps me discover Feralheart and here I am. c:

WQ is a cool idea, but to say the least, I HATE the chat system (not really a chat system actually...no offence). I like the fact that there's actual hunting, but the multiplayer feature is also boring. Besides that super-annoying chat blocker, it isn't a MMORPG, and you can't really do anything. I still play it for the sake of hunting, but I wouldn't be caught dead on multiplayer unless I'm really bored.

Not trying to diss WolfQuest; again, the idea is really cool, but the multiplayer part isn't fun unless you like an extremely limited "chat" feature. It blocks cuss words, which is fine, but it also blocks anything from names to things that weren't even meant to be blocked.

Yeah. I finally forced myself into multiplayer, and the chat is horrible. We can hardly say anything, and the conversation I had between me and a friend had sounded like the most incredibly boring thing ever. You can't do smilies or anything or say names. So yeah.. staying in single player.

I remember WolfQuest. Used to play it a long time ago, back when I didn't even know what roleplaying was. I also played it before Slough Creek was out. Good times. Even though the chat filter was a pain, I met some good friends there and if it wasn't for them, I would've found out about Feralheart a lot later than I did. Some of them, I still keep in touch with even to this day. However, while I love the graphics and textures of WolfQuest, the chat filter pretty much ruins it. I'd rather have my freedom of speech, per say, than look good. While I'll probably never even glance back at WolfQuest again, I'll never forget it for that's where my internet experience began.

Ahh, Wolf Quest xD. I rarely play it anymore but I used to be obsessed with it. It is what lead me to Feral Heart after seeing someone talking about in in a multiplayer thing. I've forgotten my username on it though. >.<

I played WolfQuest out of curiosity of how it would play out for me. It was alright, it's an alright game to play if you want to be a wolf, defend your pups, and do things with other people online. I like the environments and nature interaction, but just little things like the speech filter and tedious gameplay is what got me. I bet if the game was more open-world, better filtering, and had a more variety of what your wolf avatar could do, I'd think I would have played longer. I'll , on occasion, do still play WolfQuest, but not as frequently as I do other games.
Also, I hate that bloody eagle that keeps taking my pups! DX

Ah, Wolf Quest. Played it long before I even knew of Impressive Title, and I must say, those were good times. Other than multiplayer, with that horrible chat system that won't let you say "She" or "He", I didn't dare to go on multiplayer. I really loved the hunting feature, and was pretty happy when Slough Creek came out. My wolf's life in Slough Creek was mostly urinating, barfing, chasing grizzlies, and crying when that giant eagle took my puppies.

Oh WQ, how much I love and hate you. :3

To be honest, you just summed up why I'm not as WQ-obsessed as I used to be. There just wasn't much to do and that chat filter ruined multiplayer.

I agree. Stupid chat. I forgot about the eagle. Lol. I still remember the cattle ranch. I got shot once. But the fact is that WQ needs to be uptadated because at the moment there are glitches with the rain, you have to eat from a sertin angle and the carcass sinks into the ground for what ever reason. I do not think this is educational in my opinion. I did have fun on it though. Its very detailed with the graphics. Its just not educational enough. However though it did bring me to FH. I played wolf quest ages ago but then it vanished when I brought angry birds. So I searched for games like wolf quest and I found FH and I met some cool friends.

Lol that happened to me a LOT. I hated WQ water. I'd always be like:"Um guys, do we really have to cross, I don't want to, do we really have to?...." and my mate would be like:"OMG let's run around you, get wet, stuck and everything else you hate! Yeah. Multiplayer was the most interesting part. I'd run around with my friends and fall in water, then start glitching. People would start to get in, try to push me while I was on map screen dealing with lag. Remember kids, water can be dangerous.

Ohgodthisgame

I hate the pup raising part. They always keep walking away forcing the other ones to walk away and then suddenly a bear magically appears and agghhh. Then there's the eagle/hawk.

The mate finding part is okay though. It's kinda fun hunting and stuff c: The game is great, but the pup raising is just kinda... bleh.

Edit: I just realized my first post I've ever made on this forum is in this thread

I have cheats/hints ;)

Cheat for training pups: Just keep howling until the blue bar is full.

Cheat for lots of strength: Go HIGH with the stamina and LOW with the strength... That works somehow.

Hint for getting an albino pup/secret den: Once you've found a mate, go get a stranger wolf to fight.
Fight it until it gives up. Tell it to "Leave now!" And then, keep pausing the game and going to Pack Stats,
and when the XP starts rising, wait till it's at 50,000 (50... something... I think XD)
Click done when it's at 50,000 :P Then you should have a new den on the map at Slough Creek. And an albino pup ^-^

Hint for eagle/hawks: Run towards them when they're about to get a pup.

Hint for hunting: ALWAYS go for the WEAKEST in the heard, and lead it towards food so you can eat and gain strength. And lead it to the den if possible.

Hint for rabbits when you're too slow: Circle around the rabbit, and cut it off.

I think dats about enough :P

(I had more but I must do homework lol)

It's been a while but if you want a cute little zombie pup, I believe you pick up a pup and go and try to find a stranger wolf to interact with. After that, the texture will get mixed up into a little monster-pup with an eye on it's back c:

Also, I had a fun time doing this a while ago:

There's a bush that spawns rabbits and eventually you can do this.

WolfQuest was the first game I ever downloaded from the internet. I enjoyed everything about it. But as many have already stated, it got boring after phase two. I always wondered if they were going to make more episodes to add on but they never did.
