Whatever you do, try not to get a HP laptop, they like to overheat 8|
-
Make sure not to get a Vista either, they were made to look pretty not run games. Try going for a Windows 7 or a XP if you want to (hell, my Windows XP runs Skyrim lovely on high w/o crashes.).

I do not look in the public computer stuffz. Good luck finding that laptop! ;)
-
Ive heard good things about Asus and Lenovo laptops! But more importantly, dont get a dell >.>

I am having issues with my Windows Vista desktop, but I might settle for a Windows XP laptop when mine is about to go *poof*

Hey all ^^ thank you for the suggestions xD keep them coming in because I love it when I've got a lot of choice X3

There are computers for under $550?
Well here's a good plan to do if you want a really good computer for gaming. Save up your money. I saved up probably 3 years worth of Christmas money (Mainly because I'm a picky person and don't buy much)
Go for an Asus. It was a lot of money but trust me, so worth it.
This Asus has over 900 GBs. The graphics card is awesome. Like on the side says "Intel core i7" (i7 brands are the best for games supposedly) And then there's 8GBs Ram. So if you're willing to actually do this trust me its so worth it. It can play SKY RIM on HIGH QUALITY! Without lag or anything. It's a good computer and really worth it.
However, if that's not your cup of tea, then go with a Toshiba. I've had mine for a long time and I absolutely love it. They're durable too. I've dropped mine a lot XD

Sounds like I'm gonna have to do some research into these Asus laptops XD

My current computer is pretty decent. While It's a dell, it's not too bad for one.

I remember this costing around 400 ish when I went to WalMart. Just thought I'd post something in specific rather than general open terms. Hope I helped!
basically yes, it runs FH or GMOD or MineCraft etc etc with a decent FPS. My sister managed to make Skyrim work at 30 ish frames, and WoW at 40-60.
Laptops have integrated sound, graphics, video, etc cards so I don't know if you can open it up and change it. for that kind of thing i recommend buying parts and putting it together, but that costs possibly more at 550 depending on what you want.

I'd wait for a sale if I were you. There are some good online sales during holidays.
Halloween is coming up, and if you can wait even longer, black Friday is definitely going to have some good online sales, it always does.
-
While there are sales on holidays, that also means those places are crowded and you'll be waiting in line for quite some time x) Just saying. Once again, good luck!
-
There arent too many crowds online, which is where I said to get the sales :P
But yea going anywhere irl on black Friday would suck XD
