Post by: liontamer1 on October 21, 2012, 10:39:40 pm
I have decided to try and make a preset. I have checked out the manual but, as usual, Its to confusing. I need help understanding the canine and feline portion and how to paint them. Oh and also how to get the preset in the toolbar. Thanks!

Well Thrillex you can start learning how to make a preset by looking here in the Member Made Tutorials section of the forum:
http://www.feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=18898.0 (http://www.feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=18898.0)
Follow that link and you should see a big bold red heading under all those topics called "Presets". There you will find many links to many useful tutorial pages about how to make presets :)

Of those here is one basic preset making tutorial you can start with:
http://feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=8149.0%20newwindow (http://feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=8149.0%20newwindow)

Also if you don't already have it you may want to consider downloading GIMP:
http://www.gimp.org/ (http://www.gimp.org/)
It is a very useful art program that will come in handy when you start working on presets. It's free to download and totally safe as long as you use the download from the official link there :)
As a side note you could always use Photoshop too and there are many helpful videos on Youtube of how to make Feral Heart Presets if visual aids is more to your liking. Hope this helps & goodluck to you :)

Well, to make it sort of simpler, you should head to your 'my_presets' folder, and maybe edit your preset_1 or preset_2 around. Considering it's your first time.

You can download GIMP or Photoshop to make a preset, as for how to make a preset in either of them. Just select whatever you might want, in this case let's say "Preset_2body", and you can doodle around with it, using whatever art program you selected.

In the reference folder, though (Ifindthisuseful), there is a sort of 'reference' that tells you what everything is, so your less confuzzled. <.D.>

Watch the video in the previous comments, I know they are long, but, they help a little. And GIMP is your friend.
Its really going to be a trial and error thing. But, there are lots of videos you can watch to see how to do it all. I had to watch on a join.me to figure out how to do a lot. Which may be easier for you as well.

That isnt always a Preset, most of the time it means they have Markings downloaded that you do not. But, you can get them from on here, in the Mod&Add-ons forum. The TCE markings pack is really good to have. But, there are many more.

Just made a preset. -_- Its not good. Need to download GIMP. (I used Paint. Never again) Sorry for bumping, but lets say I messed up, and I wanna start over. But useless Paint, won't let me UN-do what I hate. Can I fix this! *Flails*

Yeah, that happens, but GIMP is free though, so you can get it pretty easily. (And it lets you undo things!)
Good luck with it.
