Title: Ice Labyrinth [Should be up and ready, PM me if there are problems downloading]
Post by: starkwolf on November 01, 2012, 06:27:00 pm
Important notice: The file should now read "icelabyrinth2." icelabyrinth was not an updated version.

This map is basically just like it sounds, it is a maze made completely of ice. Though I admit, it took little skill to make, it should provide you with plenty of confusing, exciting fun. RP is very lenient. There is no specific, all encompassing RP, so feel free to add whatever reason your character is here. As long as basic respect is shown for other players and there is no godmodding, feel free to RP in whatever manner you like (even ways prohibited in general maps). Just make sure that if someone complains about any behavior (e.g. swearing, sexual behavior) you stop immediately (though you are allowed to ask for clarification on whether it is the player or character talking first. As a means of respect, while your character may swear, you may not (at least, not at others in the room). Be respectful of all players at all times.

Optional Background information: The Ice Labyrinth is a very cold location, even the toughest wolves cannot survive for long. Some wolves can survive for up to 10 minutes, others not as long. For whatever reason you are here, whether it is a punishment, a personal challenge, or another reason, be warned that your life is at stake.

At the end of the maze is a portal that will take you to Watermill. If, by any chance, this maze is too simple for some, please respond in thread, and I will cook up a far more difficult one ASAP.

EDIT: LOL, forgot the download URL. http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2me408q7rmvfo28 (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2me408q7rmvfo28)
Sry guys, I will have the screenshot up ASAP. Screenshot is up. I hope you enjoy it!

Hopefully it works now. Please tell me if it does not.

I'm eager to try this out, but, the download seems to be rather confusing. Did you export it and zip the fhm, fho, fhs files?
Or is the meaning in this to have people go into mapmaker to get things to work?

I'm sorry. This is my first published map, so I didn't realize that there were complications like this. If you would be so kind as to mention how I accomplish this, I would be grateful. Otherwise, I am sure I can find a good tutorial.

EDIT: The map is exported though.

EDIT: The map is exported though.
First of all, you'll need some kind of software to zip the files. I suggest WinRar (I know it has a glitch which says it expires in 40 days, but it will not. As long as you close the small window that pops up, you'll be able to use it either way.)

1. If you go into mapmaker and start up your map, you should find a button called "Export" near your save button.

2. Go into Feral Heart > Exports - You should find files with the ending of .fhs .fho and .fhm  (Sky, objects and map.)

3. Select the files belonging to your map and right click then choose "Add to archive..", you'll be able to choose between rar and zip, I suggest Zip because some people do not use winRar and it'll make it difficult for them to get the map.

4. Simply upload the zipped file to mediafire and give out the link. ^_^

If the default Sky and Objects were used, will it not show up? Because I didn't alter that at all. All I have is the .fhm file.

EDIT: Also, should it show up on my computer as "WinRAR archive zip file"?

Hopefully I have it corrected now.

If it's only .fhm - you can just upload it to mediafire, since you used the defaults - there should not be any other file needed.

I am not sure about your second question. I'd need you to send me an image for that one. - PM me if you've got any further questions, will look better for the topic later. ;3

This looks great from the screenshot. I can't wait to try this without the map on for a first trial.

Edit: Meant to hit modify, but instead I hit quote. Whoops.

Hey, not a problem. Just make sure to PM it to me, I want to try it =). To save you some trouble, I will let you in on a little tip: I used a free browser maze maker to generate the original file (which is already in greyscale). Invert the colors, and walah! Extremely simple, and even I can't figure out how to get through my own maze half the time. When I do, it is mostly luck. That way, you can be sure it will provide adequete challenge, especially since these mazes are meant to be challenging when you can see the whole thing. Also, if you and the poster below like "creative" ideas, I have a few more coming, but I have been a bit busy with homework to upload, so keep your ears pealed. If you would like, I could send you a PM when some other "creative" maps come out? None of my maps are difficult to create, just that the concept for use is a bit... out of the box.
