Can someone explain to me what are maps? How do i make one? What are prides/packs/clans? Is there different chat channels?

Hmm;
Maps are worlds, basically. Did you see Lonely Cave? Fluorite Plains? and other maps; well; they are maps (the worlds.) If you want to make one, you will need an editing software that supports greyscale. You will need to make a heightmap. Terrain masks are optional.
Anywho, I was scared when I first heard of map making, so these simple and quick tutorials may help you!

You will need
- GIMP 2.6
- A greyscale image set to 513x513
- Patience xD

Prides are a group of lions, leopards, etc.
Packs can be referred to as a group of canine creatures.
Clans can be referred to as 'a warrior cat clan' or a group of canines and felines.
