Hmm. I have had this happen before. Are you sure that it is only one layer? If it's two it will crash. If that didn't work I don't know what will.  :D

Make sure that you follow every step of the tutorials.
Height map (http://feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6&Itemid=11) and Terrain mask (http://feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=7&Itemid=10)

Odd. Like Reckless said, did you follow every step?

Make sure the height-map is greyscale and 513x513. If you have extra layers, you can choose to merge them when you save the file.

Check if any of the layers is transparent. To do such, go to Layer > Transparency > Remove Alpha Channel.

Did that too.

Hm, perhaps you could send me the image via PM to see if I can make heads or tails of the issue?

Dessi, someone else just had me do the same thing o: I checked it, removed the alpha channel, but it still didn't work for them.

Hm, I never got a  message. Make sure you're typing in the name in the Heightmap space, not the Mask space.

As I suggested, maybe you could send me the heightmap. Although you should double-check the file's properties (image mode, etc.), in case one of them didn't save. It happens.

Well I checked it is a png image and it is in gray scale and that's about it.

Well, I honestly don't know what to say anymore. T'is hard to identify the problem without a copy of the heightmap, given that we've been trying to pinpoint the problem blindly here. Are you typing the name into the Terrain Mask blank or the one above it?
