I found a handful of different free presets on deviantart that I wanted to use, but the problem is is that I think I messed everything up and I don't know how to fix it. I've looked through several pages on this thread, but I haven't found any topic that has a answer to it (forgive me if I missed something).

I followed the instructions given with the download to get the skin on feral-heart, and one worked fine. But I noticed that all the ones I wanted to use were named "preset_8".

I put one in the preset_7 file, and replaced the 8 with a 7 on all the things there. But when I went to export everything on FH, the file never showed. The name wasn't even there. I am really worried that I messed something up, and is there a way to fix it?

Or do I have to uninstall FH and reinstall it to start over?

Did you change any folder names?
Other than that, you should be able to just switch the material code & texture numbers to get it working..

Usually, when the preset#Whatever file disappears, the .material file is wrong. You probably need to edit the coding. Did you just rename the files, or did you also edit the coding?

By the sounds of it you have not changed the material files yet~ Go into your folder, the one you put it in which would be 7. And do you see the .material file? Go into that. Make sure you change the numbers, the ones i circled:

Change it from 8 to 7.

I changed the numbers in the material files like you suggested, everything works great now.
