I just got a new ASUS laptop with Windows 8 on it. The FeralHeart download files don't seem to be working on my computer. When I click the download or torrent links, it takes me to an app I downloaded and then does nothing. I've restarted my laptop twice and tried reinstalling many times. The file downloaded, but will not run. Help?
-
OK, so an app you've downloaded...? Where does it exactly take you? Like, to your files where it is or an Internet page.
It shouldn't be Windows 8, as it works fine on mine.
-
The app's name is KDrive. The app appears to start, as it takes me to a fullscreen page with the app's logo and nothing else. Then the screen freezes and nothing else happens.
-
Does anything pop up at the bottom of the screen? There should be a download popping up in a small tabs bar.
What internet provider are you using?
-
Nothing is at the bottom of the screen, and I'm using Google. I'm going to be downloading Google Chrome soon, I think.
-
Possibly try to download the Patch first. If that doesn't work either than see if you can go ahead and download Google Chrome and try, though I don't know why that would work and Google wouldn't.
-
Okay, thanks, I'll try that and report how it turns out.
-
I tried both and neither worked. The installation files are being saved as data files and not as application files, so the computer isn't recognizing it as a program to be installed.
-
OK, so you say it's being saved as a data file: Where is it being saved? Your downloads folder?
-
Yes.
-
OK, so you try to open the application and it doesn't open? Or it doesn't install after doing what said.
-
It opens with a Windows app that does nothing.
-
OK. Well, make sure that no anti-virus program is blocking it. When I first installed it, I had to tell my software that it was OK to download it.
-
Nothing is blocking it. It just isn't opening. I think if I could get it saved as an .exe file that it would download.
-
The file downloaded is already an .exe file.
-
Other .exe files are run as applications and downloaded accordingly... I don't get it. Anything else that you think I could try?
-
Quite strange, really ... I had no problem at all after I told my security system it was OK to run ... When you download it, it's in a .exe file form, correct?
-
Hrm.
Try pressing CTRL and R which will open up Run.
In Run, type
useraccountcontrolsettings
and press enter.
If that flag is all the way up, notch it down a bit.
Then,
log into the "Golden Box" up top, and go to the Downloads page.
click Download for the FHSetup.
If it takes you back to the main page, which it sometimes does, just go back to the downloads page, and try again.
Keep attempting to download FHSetup until it starts.
Let that one download, even if it's not the right filetype.
Then, right click Download and click Save Link As...;

And then after a few moments, this will pop up;

Change Index to FHSetup(2).exe (I know mine in this pic is different, but make sure yours has the 2.) And change PHP file to Application, or if that's not a choice, do All Files;

And then it should start. c:

EDIT: FH appears to have a size limit on images...
here's the fullview links;

I have a windows 8 laptop myself and downloaded FeralHeart,to do so I went to downloads and downloaded the setup and the patch.If you still have troubles with this "app"Then i would check the top right corner or any corner for a button that reads "Skip Add" you may have to wait around 10 seconds for this to appear.Hope this is helpful :)

I got the PC to recognize it as an app, but the new error message that pops up reads as follows: This app cannot be run on your computer. Please check with software publisher for a version that will work on your computer.
-
I have Windows 8 on my Aspire One laptop, and FH downloaded perfectly.
It may be something with your browser. I used Firefox, I think, to download FH. FireFox has the easiest ways to download things in my opinion. Try FireFox to download the file.
Sorry if this doesn't work. I'm not a Microsoft employee.
-
KnifeKnut, then you just have to tell it that's its the correct file to run as a .exe. You might be readin I with something else that wouldn't work.
-
I'm not sure why it's not working maybe try again because mine downloaded different.
