I tried finding a tutorial but I only found a very sketchy, loose "how to" on dA that apparently hadn't even been tested by the person who made it.
Can anyone assist me with what to do or show me a good tutorial?

The most common reason to export a map is so you can share it with others, if you would like to know how to do that also ;)
Load your map in Map Maker and click the Export button, make sure you don't receive any errors during exporting. All exported files will appear in your Exports folder, within your main Feralheart folder.
Exported files include:
- .fhm the map file
- .fho the object groups
- .fhw and .fhs custom sky and weather cycle files, if you used them.
Once you have exported a new portal will appear in Cape of Distant Worlds. If you receive any errors during exporting then please let me know :)

Yeah that pretty much covers it. But a quick and helpful tip. If you do plan on using the map for others to download, I've found that when you export it, and you have other maps in exports, it's hard to find which files are your map. So before you export, move the rest of your map files into another folder, go onto the game and export the map, go back to your exports and you will see the files for your map there. This helps a lot. Then once you get the files you need, you can just move the others back. :)
