Title: how to get terrains working on FH? (SOLVED)

everytime i make a terrain it doesnt work and my FH crashes  what do i do...?



I GOT THEM TO WORK FINALLY!!!!

Make sure your terrain is:

- 513x513
- In .png format
- Greyscale mode
- Saved in your map's folder, located in your Terrains folder
- One layer only
- No alpha channel

What program are you using to make the terrain? Is this your first time making one?

Try using Gimp, that may help a bit more. And once you get on there I can explain in detail or even Livestream an example for you!

Paint will not work since it only uses RGB mode, you need Greyscale to make terrains. No idea how you've managed to make terrains with Paint before.

I would strongly recommend using a program such as GIMP, don't worry it's free :) www.gimp.org (http://www.gimp.org)

When you've finished downloading that program and installed it, try following these tutorials ;)

If you downloaded the newest version of GIMP you have to Export the image as .png. "Save as" will not make the format .png with the newest GIMP version.

Are you sure you made it in greyscale mode? File>> New>> Advanced Options>> Colour Space>> Greyscale

Maybe try making a whole new terrain for a test map following that video, a straight white line on a grey background for example?

This exact thing happened to me. Go to your Feralheart folder> media> terrains> default. Make sure it's in greyscale mode! Then try coloring over top of that. But make sure you have only 1 layer. This should work.
