Post by: paroxysm12 on February 09, 2013, 12:26:40 am
I have a problem with my terrain.I was making my terrain/height map with gimp and than i saved it.After that,i went on map maker on feralheart and than when i typed in the name of my terrain,it said Feralheart has stopped working,so i went back on and tried again and it said the same thing.I kept making different terrains to see if they would work, but they didnt it kept  saying "Feralheart has stopped working" please help.

Again since I am not much of a map maker I don't have too much experience with these kind of issues but you could try checking out this link:

You need to be using a program that allows Grayscale mode such as GIMP (free) (http://www.gimp.org/) or Photoshop, programs like Paint will not work when making terrains.

Your terrain must meet these requirements:

- 513x513 in size
- Grayscale mode
- One layer only
- No alpha channel
- Exported or saved as .png format
- Named MapNameTerrain.png

Try using GIMP and following this video tutorial :)

If you go to the World tab in Map Maker there is an Ocean option at the bottom.

Tick the box called Ocean and adjust the ocean height so you can see the water. ;)

No worries, I love to answer questions :D

Here are some video tutorials for GIMP preset making. Just remember if you have the latest version of GIMP then you'll need to Export the image, not Save :)

To make objects you have to use blender. That's the program you use to build the meshes.
You can create the textures for those objects using any program like photoshop, gimp or paint. Then you have to code them.

Blender
http://www.blender.org/ (http://www.blender.org/)

Gimp
http://www.gimp.org/ (http://www.gimp.org/)

Try referring to this :) :

Making objects is a lot more difficult than material and preset making, you need to be able to model with a 3D modeling program. I personally would start with Blender (http://www.blender.org/) because it's free. Hammy has already made a tutorial (http://www.feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=11025.0) for Blender which includes links to other programs you will need.

I would get familiar with Blender firstly before making objects for Feralheart since it can get confusing. Try searching up Blender 2.63 (or whatever version you have) modeling tutorial and you should find some helpful videoes :) Don't forget to browse the site for some helpful tips!
