Okay so.
Everytime I log on, FH crashes within 10 - 30 minutes. Then sometimes when I'm in the loading screen after the crash, it states that it crashes when it's loading, then few loading screens later it starts working. I want to know what's causing this problem, something that could keep it from crashing forever.
Thanks.

Have you installed any new content recently? Also is there any specific error message that you see upon the crash? Like FeralHeart.exe etc...? There are many reasons the game could be crashing and it would be easier for us to give you advice if we know at least what error message you might be getting if any ^^.
Sometimes crashes are caused by random derps in the server or bad connection or even double particles. Try checking your "particles" folder for any double particles and delete them. They usually have numbers on their ends like _0 or _1 etc.
-
If you noticed, it is doing the same for everyone. I am guessing maybe there is something going on with the server, it has happened in the past before and it not really a new problem. It is now just a simple waiting game and might be better if no one tries to keep logging on.
-
Yeah you're right. I checked in game it looks like it definately was the server Kenaoh ^_^ Hopefully that solves your problem then Avari if you're crashing just started. If you still keep crashing then let us know.
-
It doesn't seem to be a problem with everyone, me and my friend can log on just fine. Maybe just wait it out? If the case isn't the server then I suggest uninstalling, reinstalling, and then reinstalling the patch after the main one is fully finished. That worked for me when I kept crashing. c: sometimes it just needs a little budging
-
Well I used to do that but it is simply a waiting game as well. Now it is the whole of Plains that is crashing at the moment or a majority is. Yeah some are not having the problem and they are lucky but other then that. It just takes to much time to uninstall, reinstall, and further on. It is better just to wait and possibly better for your computer.

Haha, yes, the little 'FeralHeart.exe has stopped working' message pops up. And I checked the folder and nothing was wrong with it.
@Kenaoh: No, it's only me. No one is yelling in general/local how everyone is crashing at the same time. So, no, it's only me.
@Gamze: Ooh, I'll be trying that! c: Danke.
-
Just a tip if you try Gamzee's method be sure to back up any important files before uninstalling like presets and screenshots etc. Also don't just uninstall but also delete the Feral Heart folder after uninstalling and before reinstalling. That will ensure that any damaged and/or misplaced files that could be messing up your game are removed. Goodluck and let us know how it goes.
-
Everytime I try to delete it, it states that another program is using it.
EDIT: I just deleted the contents in it. Something was just wrong with the screenshots folder.
-
So is it working or still saying something else is using it?
-
I just deleted the contents in the "screenshots" folder and everything else in the FH folder. I reinstalled it and trying it now.
I will notify you if it is continuing to crash. Thanks!
EDIT: Yep, it crashed. It *might* have something to do with my settings. I saved my settings and my settings were put to Direct9 thing. Back to reinstalling I guess.
-
Okay, good luck. c:
-
Deleted the folder and reinstalled. Yep. Still crashing.
Any more suggestions?
-
Deleted the folder and reinstalled
You didn't just delete the folder and reinstall did you? You first have to uninstall the game, then delete the Feral Heart Folder, before reinstalling.
Aside from that maybe try messing with your game's video settings. Click where it says "options" on the main menu then "video" from there set your settings like so:
-Switch your rendering subsystem from OpenGL to Direct3D9
-Turn Water Reflection Off
- Put View Distance to 0
If you can't get into your game at all to access the main menu then you can change your rendering subsystem like so:
(Quote from the BIG help thread)
Sometimes you aren't able to even enter the game, and all you can hear is the menu music, or it just crashes directly after launch. Those who experience this can enter the feralheart folder located in C:\FeralHeart at standard, find the file called "Ogre.cfg" and open it with wordpad.
This file works just as the ingame options menu, but instead of buttons and sliders, there's text.
What we're interested in is the top row
(http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr347/aedgar09/The%20Soul%20Scarred%20Strays/untitled.png)
Set the top row text so it is just like in the picture with the text
Code:
Render System=Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem
Save the file, and close it. Next time you run the game it should boot with the new settings you applied.
I hope something here helps

STILL crashing. I turned them off and everything.
EDIT: I've noticed whenever I go into group chat I've been crashing...
-
If you crash once you've logged into the game then re-installing/re-downloading will probably not help since it's a problem with the server. It's most likely similar to the problems some members had a month ago when certain maps caused members to crash. I would think that you will need to wait it out since I don't think there is much you can do about it. unfortunately. Of course I may be wrong but that's what I did and Feralheart was working again the next day.
-
I'm the only one crashing in my group though.
EDIT: Ok well now it crashes everytime I enter a map.
-
Did you uninstall it or just delete the folder? You have to uninstall before you delete the folder, then right click the FH folder. (don't go in it and delete everything) Just right click the main folder, and delete. If other people are having this problem too, then its an issue with a few people but it should be fixed, soon. You'll just have to wait it out if that's the case. I've crashed before because of too many people in one map, but it was fixed later. Maybe just wait it out and not touch it for a little bit. Make sure you reinstalled the PATCH too, not just the main download.
By the way, uninstalling and reinstalling should fix the thing that you changed/messed with, because it sets back everything to the defaults.
-
Oh right. I'll try the patch. I will notify ya again.
I never thought this would be a bigger problem than before..

Well, uh, it could probably have a virus or your computer cannot support the file..?
This happened to me many times on Feral Heart AND my computer.
It kept freezing/crashing every time I logged in for 5 minutes.
How old is your computer?
I know I'm not much of help but...
I'm a derp. ^.^

I'm positive it has nothing to do about one computer's age. My computer is a half a year old and even older computers can handle that game.
Also i cannot get a virus over that short course of time xD. Sorry.

You could try using Red's tutorial, for most members it has stopped crashes.

Oh my god..
THAT WORKED! I STOPPED CRASHING!
Guys we need a party.
...Crashed again.
-
Glad you finally got your problem fixed then Avari :) Ingredient/Red saves the day lol
-
Ok, it's still crashing. Even when I turned off the water reflection and distance, but not as much anymore. Sometimes it crashes during the loading screen, and I'm starting to think there might be no solution.
-
Still crashing in every map, or only one?
If its only one it may be fixed but is only crashing every once in a whole because of an overload of people. o3o Not your fault!
-
I usually go to Bonfire. It crashed there 3 times plus Loading screen. In Ficho it crashed once.
So this time it might not be my fault. |D
-
Nah, that's not you.
It's just that those places are HUGELY crowded.
Let us know if you have anymore problems though. :3
