I've seen sarcasm, but this is just ridiculous.

They were definitely immature, because usually a teen or adult in rl would try and give you a literate rp sample, and if they were rejected wouldn't try and prove you wrong. But they always could be blocked or reported to a moderator or admin  :)

Little kids thinking they could use sarcasm and just rude talk to get in a group.
I've seen this happen sometimes, but generally when this happens you should just block them.

The downside to talking to other people over the internet is that it's near impossible to tell when someone is being sarcastic or making a joke (unless they use an emotion such as xD or :V ). I forget about this sometimes and have to go back to change what I say. That being said, even I couldn't tell until you mentioned later in the post that "Person" was joking about their RP sample... I guess a lot of people (even me! xD) often forget that they are speaking through writing and over the internet, so even if something sounds like a joke in their head it might not come across that way to whoever reads it because they don't have the same voice in their head.

Don't worry, this wasn't you being ignorant or anything. I imagine anybody else would have reacted the same way, since to be honest "Person" didn't make it clear at all that he was making a joke. :U

Thanks peoples. I wonder if they even had a reason for acting like that. >.< I was going to block them but eventually they got bored with it and left, it was really quite irritating. They were acting like I should be HONORED to have them in my RP when I didn't even want them in after all that rude behavior. They really thought they were all that in a box of chocolates, so much that they thought it was too obvious that they were a literate RPer. They wouldn't give me a literate RP sample no matter how many times I asked! On top of it all, they were not only arguing with me but I had two other members in my RP backing me up so they were basically taking on three people and brushing us away like we were idiots.

I know how you feel. This has actually happened to me once, but in a different way. I was advertising for an RP out in Flourite Plains when I got a whisper from some random person, asking for an invite into my group. It went something like this...

Person: Can you send me an invite? I would like to join your RP.
Me: Okay -sends invite-
Me: Invite sent
Person:..... Can you send me an invite please?
Me: I did
Person:....... CAN I GET AN INVITE!!!!!?
Me: I already sent you one -sends another invite-
Person:.............CANNNN I GETT AN INVITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Me: I already sent you one twice.
Person: Forget this!!!!!! I wanted to join your RP but NEVERMIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's pretty much how it went. I ended up reporting them since they started swearing at me via whisper. I'm sure they thought what they did was funny... until they couldn't log back into FH after a mod saw that report. :D
Best thing to do is block them if they keep bothering you, and take a few screenshots of their bad behavior and send it to a mod.

I never had someone give me a bad sample but if it did I don't really know how I could politely say no to them.

I honestly think they were just being a jerk. XP They thought it was already obvious by how they talked in OOC they they were literate Role Players even though that isn't always the case. They came back for who knows what reason, just glad they left!

A part of me thinks that maybe they actually were being serious when they gave you that awful rp sample, and then after you said they couldn't join they became so offended/embarrassed that they just lied and said they were joking in order to cover up their failure. Why else (unless they were explicitly trying to troll) would they go to such lengths to prove that they were joking about their rp if it was all just a game with them to begin with?
I don't know, just being speculative, but that's what I'm picking up from this. If they did start using better grammar and such afterwards, I bet they were only putting more effort than what they normally use to try and make everyone believe they weren't some illiterate trollop. Which they are.
Basically, just try and forget about it, they're a right nasty piece of work and clearly had nothing better to do than hold onto a silly grudge and try to embarrass you in front of your other group members, all all over a supposed 'joke' no less. There will always be people like that out there unfortunately, but the best thing we can do is try to just gloss over them, and not make people like that into 'martyrs'. After all, they're normally just looking for attention and will do whatever it takes to get it.

Dafudge? .-.

Tidey, I would've drop-kicked that derp. (Or not, but you get my point. That kid sounds silly.)

I would've been pretty flustered, though. Recruiting is tough, and can require a good deal of mental energy (that is, if you're working solo and keeping everybody updated and moving along), and I know how hard you work for Siar, dearie. But for some kid you don't even know the come up, deliberately bomb an RP sample, then expect you read their mind and let you into your literate RP is really quite unreasonable.

Now, had they calmly explained that they'd been joking right afterward, and given you a proper RP sample (just so you know they're actually a feasible roleplayer), then it would've been a pretty amusing prank, and would've made an inside joke for you both much later on. c:>
But...
Just walking up later and criticizing your OOC speech? That's not even roleplay. They were just bitter, I'd guess.
Still yet, derps will derp. They'll learn to act nice soon enough, anyway, if they're going to get into any good RPs. I wouldn't worry over people like that. c:
Love ya, Tidey. xD <3

Genesis: I never thought of that, maybe they were embarrased. Either way it was childish though.
Whitey: Thank yew. :3 This makes me feel better. xD I agree, if that person ever wants to get in a good RP they better learn how to act. >.<

Chur welcome. <3 c: Hopefully you won't be running into anymore floofs like that, though.

I- you handled it better then I would/do. I usually get iliterate samples and tell them something  along the lines of "No, sorry you can't join. We're a strictly literate roleplay and I don't feel you'd fit in well."

I've had people try to guilt trip me and be all "Oh ok... im so horrible and i hate myself for rping badly.. srry... i am going now.. bye"

I usually ignore them but if they keep at it I just tell them. Goodbye and shove them on their way. Like really I'm not  going to feel guilty if you just start self-loathing right afterwards. I'm not feeding that fire. Gtfa.

Or if they get angry I pick out their faults in the sample or try to let them down gently. But if they just keep at it I just say something witty in response and usually mean.. not gonna lie >>' Then I block them.

I don't have anything against iliterates and other roleplaying styles- even helped teached a few to be literate. c: But really after a certain point it gets old and it's like "No just go away dude."

Mhmm, I know what you mean. I don't mind illiterate RPers either. It's just that if my RP is LITERATE, and you RP ILLITERATELY, how am I going to let you in, no matter how much I want you to? I just get so mad when people read my advertisements which clearly state the RP is literate and then they aren't literate. Just...bleh.
