Well I thought I was doing it wrong since it just asks me to log in all over again..

Yeah the site does that sometimes when posting/modifying things. Just log out and log back in, then be quick about changing your password, so your session does not time out.

Ok so first thing to do when changing your password is to go into your profile and click on "Account Related Settings"

After that you go ahead and put in your new password in the box below.

Now you must still remember your old password in order for you to actually change it.
