Title: Map Maker Not Working
Post by: LissyLuvsYou on April 10, 2013, 01:53:44 am
Hello. This is my first time making a map on FH. I have looked at many tutorials for making the height map, then putting it into the map maker. I used Paint.NET. I made sure I had the measurements right and saved it as a .png file, but every time I try to put it in map maker, FH crashes. I don't know what I am doing wrong, so please help me.

Also, I could not find the Greyscale of Paint.NET, so I used B&W. I read online that it was the same as Greyscale. If that's what's wrong, can you tell me where Greyscale is?

~Thanks, Lissy <3

I do not believe black and white is the same as greyscale. In which case, you'll be needing GIMP.
www.gimp.org (http://www.gimp.org)
Free program.
No viruses because I use it and yada yada yada. xD
To greyscale in GIMP you merely go to Image >> Mode >>Greyscale

Paint will not work because it does not have a Grayscale Mode, using grey colours will not work. That is most likely why Feralheart would be crashing. You need a program such as GIMP or Photoshop to be able to make heightmaps.

Go to the link Ruby has posted and download GIMP. When you want to save your image as a .png you have to go File>> Export to and then type in "mapnameTerrain.png" to make it a .png image :)
