Title: Particle help..
Post by: Anemic on April 27, 2013, 10:47:41 pm
I've gotten meshes two or three times before and still use them.  I just got a fire mesh, and perhaps I'm just being noobish, but I've pasted everything into particles, and all the things with .material at the end in materials.  (Never gotten particles before)
Whenever I type in Fire.particle in the effect maker under particles, it says that it doesn't exist.  I've typed it right and placed it in the particles folder.  Should I be placing it elsewhere, or am I missing a step?
I'm on a mac if that helps.
If anyone has some sort of guide to go to or some suggestions that'd be much appreciated.

I'm not a big fan with particles either but I'm pretty sure you put everything but the particle file into Feral Heart >> Media >> Objects >> My Objects. Then once that is done, put the particle file into the particle folder. Make sure you don't create double particles because that may cause your game to start crashing. Maybe there is a 'README' inside, if there is, follow the instructions in there CAREFULLY. If this doesn't help then try looking here. I hate partics ther the worst xD >.<
(try renaming the .mat folder if it fails)

OK what i do is, single partics i put all in the Particle folder, and to use them go into feral heart>>tools>>objects maker>>effect maker>>Particle
then type in the name xD make sure to export it btw, and if it doesnt show up, get a small object make it small and do the same thing, and rename it and export!

and so your game doesnt crash go back into the Particle folder and delete the doubles

if that doesn't work then do as the post above says, _ try the my_objects folder, i'd help with that but i dont know how that way works unless its in a object file or what ever.

if all else fails, do as the first suggestion was but move materials into the material folder, my_object folder and textures folder.

Yes, I can understand the difficulty you're having there. Particles don't always work if you type the same name as the .particle file. Sometimes you have to actually open the .particle file to discover the name.

Try this tutorial I made, it should help: http://www.feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=17179.0 (http://www.feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=17179.0) :)
