Just to clarify, is occasionally posting about groups in the game chat considered spam or trolling?

Nahh, unless constantly spamming your group's information. Advertising every so often would be just fine.

As stated before me, it'll be alright for you to post the information about your group every once in a while but try not to post it over and over again constantly. Try to post the details of your group and wait 3 minutes or so to allow people to read your post, process the information, and decide if they're interested or not to come speak with you. Then you can post again and so on. Good luck.
