Title: .[Sled Dogs of Point Hope]. ~ Dog RP ~ Open

   In the bitter wilderness of Alaska, dogsledding has fast become a sport. Though airplanes have become the most reliable way of transportation, the people of Alaska still have full trust in the dogsledding system, which has remarkably survived as transport through the years. The dog system is still used to transport goods to the secluded parts of Alaska that the railway and many airlines don't reach. Each year, the town of Nome hosts the most grueling dogsled race in the world: The Iditarod. The race starts in Nome, and after more than a thousand miles of bitter wilderness, end in the town of Anchorage. Each year, only the best dog teams are chosen, or even physically able to challenge the fabled course.

   A small town called Point Hope, located in the far Northeastern coast of Alaska, is the home to many sled teams. Because of its secluded location, most of the sled teams are simply tools for the humans for transporting goods to the small town on the shore. Point Hope is not technologically up to date, and still fully relies on the dogs when wheeled vehicles fail to function in the deep year round snow. However, a select few teams and their determined human mushers train and participate in small races often when winter rolls around. These few teams train amaturely in their farm homes and by participating in said small races with the high hopes of one day standing a chance in the Iditarod.

   You are a sled dog. A valued member of one of said teams living in Point Hope. Being a sled dog, the topic of the Iditarod Race is not a stranger to your mind. Whether you long to compete, or enjoy the simple life as transportation for the human goods and resources, you hear much about it. Those who are enthusiastic about training and racing usually belong to the mushers who have the Iditarod set in their sights.

   Racing

  Teams who long to race are set into consistant non-professional training. Exercises include strength, endurance, and speed workouts. While doubling as work sled teams, racing teams work extra hard to accomplish their goals of participation in the dogsled racing world. To prove themselves worthy to the Iditarod Trail, racing teams must run and place in smaller races before even being acknowledged. Endurance is the key to victory. Dogs must be able to travel long distances in the freezing cold, with little access to food or water. Each dog must be at its top physical condition to be on a team in general. Races and deliveries take many days.

   Non-race teams simply work contently relaying food and supplies from main cities back up to their small town.

   Each team may consist of only 8 dogs. Dog breeds are limited to Northern breeds who are designed for heavy pulling, long distance running, and especially surviving the bitter cold, such as: Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, Canadian Eskimo Dog, Chinook, Samoyed, etc.

   The dogs all live together with their musher when not on the trail; whether in his actual house, or in a barn on his property.

Appearance: Sita has the usual characteristic appearance of an Alaskan Husky, although the tips of her ears fold over, making her seem innocent.

Team: Benjamin Rodgers.

Position: Lead dog?

Mate: None.

Personality: Sita is quite care-free and relaxed. She works hard when she needs to, but can see the fun side to almost anything. She is sweet and caring, but can become quite mysterious and self-preserved if you ask too many questions.

Personality: Kikji is an easy-going dog who normally is ready for anything. Her determination leads to stubbornness, and sometimes, she would want to go her way only. Kikji has a slight attitude when you get on her nerves. Otherwise, she is gentle and understanding towards you.

((I have a question: What does "Strictly Delivery Mushers" mean and what do they do? Also, what does the position of the "swing dog" do? Sorry for all the questions; I don't watch dog sledding or anything like that.))

And the "Strictly Delivery Mushers" are the mushers who have no real interest in racing and mainly focus on their job (Picking up mail and goods from a stop in a larger town in the south and delivering it back to their home town.) Hope that somewhat helped. x3))

   Juneau stood at the window inside their musher, Benjamin's small house. He stared longingly at the outside, his breath fogging the glass as he patiently awaited the return of his human companion. His curled tail wagged slowly and he danced on his hind paws, forepaws on the windowsill.

   Stark, who was laying with a couple of the other dogs on the couch, raised his head, lowering a brow at the lead dog. "Give it a rest, will ya? He'll be back soon enough." The Chinook said through a careless yawn, stretching his front legs.

   The dark brown husky glanced over his shoulder at the sleepy Chinook and let out a huff, returning his gaze to the outside, where the late Autumn snow had begun to build on the ground. "Yeah, yeah, I know." Juneau replied with a subtle chuckle. As cliche as it may seem to the other dogs, that human was his best friend. Finally a familiar form trudged through the darkness and Benjamin opened the wooden front door of the house, letting a flurry of wind and snow blow in briefly. The dogs immediately sprang from their spots and dashed over to him, barking and wagging their tails. Juneau barked with glee and leaped up onto the human, paws on his chest as he lapped at his face. "Snow's comin' down pretty hard. Gonna be a good season this year, guys." Benjamin said chuckling, shoving the husky off him and trudging through the crowd of excited canines. "We can start training tomorrow after work." Benjamin said with a tired sigh, plopping down on the couch.

Her ears perked as she heard the familiar jingle of the bells as Buck slipped inside. Licking her nose, the husky rested on her haunches, her tongue lolling out of her mouth as she waited for her owner. Nearby, two dogs awaited for their owner, and their arguments could be heard from her. Letting out a huff, Kikji glanced away, deciding not to eavesdrop on their "private" conversation. Swishing her tail around her, she shuffled her paws as she stared out at the store. When a tall man stepped out of the store, she was about to leap onto her paws when she realized that Buck wasn't that tall, and in fact, he wasn't that young. Sighing, she plopped back down and twitched her ear impatiently as she waited. Suddenly, a ferocious growl burst near her. Whipping her head, her eyes widened as the two arguing dogs sprang at each other, snarling as snapping as they attacked one another. Letting out a bark, she began to attract the attention of several men as they hurried over to pull the canines out of their fights. Unable to look anymore, Kikji glanced away, ashamed of the two males as she heard a few men yelling.

Finally, when it was quiet, Kikji forced herself to look back. A gasp nearly escaped her maw as she noticed the smaller male motionless on the ground with blood oozing out of his wounds. The larger, black male was being held back as he tried to lunge for the other male again. Trembling, Kikji glared at the black male, before taking a step back. Several humans lifted the sleeping dog away, his head limp as it hung. Dark, dull eyes stared back as he was carried away. Flattening her ears, she watched as the dead male disappeared along with the humans, before staring at the bloody snow.

A couple of them began to playfully tussle in the living room, while Juneau hopped onto the couch and crept closer to Benjamin. With a huff, he lay down beside him and rested his head on his lap, tail slowly wagging. Benjamin flicked on the television and rubbed the husky's head. "We've already got our first delivery assignment." He started with a quiet sigh. "But right after we're done with that we'll run our little training trail, alright? I know you're all pretty anxious to get back to racing." He chuckled.

Stark was on the floor, playfully wrestling with one of the Wheeler dogs. With a bark, he reared up and hopped onto the Malamute, forcing the two to tumble over each other before breaking apart only to tackle each other again with a yip.

She circled a few times before lying down on her bed in the corner of the room with her head in her paws. She watched the television, some documentary was on about the weather in Alaska and how many people died by being buried in the snow. She huffed and rolled her eyes, her gaze drifting to the window. Benjamin was right, the snow was quite heavy and it wasn't showing any signs of stopping. Her tail thumped lazily against the white cushion of her bed, she began to lick her paw, cleaning off all of the dirt from her walk this morning.

Personality: He is a happy go-lucky dog. He doesn't mind being a wheel dog because is was an honor for him to be put on a race musher's team. With his body being thin for his breed he isn't able to stand the cold as long as his breed should. He makes up for it by having long legs able to bound longer strides.

Despite the obnoxious barking of the playing dogs, it didn't take long for Juneau to doze off, comfortable with his head in Benjamin's lap. His bushy tail tapped slowly against the couch occasionally while he drifted into a deeper slumber, letting out a quiet huff from his nostrils.

After playfully pinning the Wheeler husky to the floor, Stark stood on top of him, holding his head high in victory. The husky shoved the Chinook off of him and sat up. Stark stumbled away laughing a bit. His gaze drifted over to Sita, who was relaxing in her dog bed nearby. A mischievous smirk crept across his face and he slowly crept towards her. With a sudden bark of playful energy, he reared up and lunged on top of her, lightly clutching on to her scruff and rolling over. "C'mon, Sita, crashing already?" He growled through his mouthful of fur, tugging on her scruff with a smirk plastered on his maw.

Snow buffeted his face as Dingo leaped around the front of the barn. He had somehow escaped and was enjoying the cold weather. He tried to jump and snap at snow but the snow only flew into his eyes. The rest of the dogs were inside resting in the warmth. He jumped again only to land in the snow with his face completely submerged.
Dingo pulled out his head and shook his thin fur. Barking in excitement he bounded around, snow covering his vision. As he was running around in the snow his body slammed into the wooden barn. He pawed at it confusion. All he saw was snow. He couldn't see his paws even. The entrance to the barn opened and he rushed inside.
He greeted his owner with tons of licks. Dingo's tail was swinging so hard his body moved with it. Going to the side of the barn he sat down and licked at the snow on his legs. It was like a cold glove it was so thick. Everything he saw was blurry. He was a living snow-dog.

She rolled her eyes and tipped sideways, causing the two to roll over so that the fea was on top of the Chinook and laughing, "Look who's crashing now." She barked, wrestling playfully with Stark. Her tail wagged to and fro as she stepped off of him, waiting for him to get up.

Stark's eyes widened as she rolled over him, forcing him to release his light hold on her scruff. "Heh, yeah, yeah." He chuckled, rolling back over and pulling himself to his paws. "Touche, Sita. Touche." The Chinook nodded at the fae with a smirk, giving her side a shove with his shoulder as he walked past her, tail wagging slowly.

Juneau scrunched his eyes as the two played, but he ignored it with a quiet huff and returned to his sleeping. By then, darkness had fully fell outside, and Benjamin had slipped into a light slumber on the couch.

As the snow melted his pelt began to become soaked. Resting his head on his paws his pale blue eyes watched as the others of his team walked around, slept or watched the fire swirl and dance. Yawning his side pressed up against the thin wooden wall. He could fell the outside. It was too cold to go back out now. Dingo sighed as the dim light as the top of the barn flickered.

Sita laughed and nudged Stark back, rolling her eyes. She was now too worked-up for sleep, so she padded over to the couch. She climbed up and on top of the cushion above Benjamin, lying down with her tail hanging down in front of her owner's face. The husky rested her head in her paws, her tail swinging gently and brushing Benjamin's nose.

As the dangling light swayed slightly it flickered. The brightest thing in the small barn was the warm fireplace. Standing up and trotting towards it he plopped onto another wheel dog who shoved him off immediately. He let out a huff as his side hit the wood floor.

  Stark paced around the small living room, now begining to wind down from all the playful fighting. Stalking in a few ritual circles, he lay down with a huff on a cushion on the floor just in front of the couch. Yawning, he rested his head down, his light brown eyes darting from canine to canine, most of them already drifting into sleep. Heaving out a sigh, the Chinook slowly flickered his eyes shut, knowing he needed rest for the long day on the trail tomorrow.

   Benjamin scrunched his nose, waking up briefly to scratch it and brush the husky's tail out of his face. He chuckled and reached around to pat Sita's flank before nestling back in the cushion and going back to sleep. His movement forced Juneau from his slumber. Raising his head, he stared at the human in slight confusion, his eyes wandering up to Sita on the cushion elevated behind them. Letting out a huff, he put his head back down and quickly went back to sleep.

She fluttered her eyes closed, her chest rising and falling in time with her breathing. She began to drift off into a light sleep, her paws slightly twitching as she ran in her dreams.

Dingo's eyes began to slip shut as the fire dried him. He didn't know what the team would be doing tomorrow but he'd have to wait to know. Almost in sleep a cold drop of water splashed onto him. Only stirring a little another hit him/ Growling he shifted until no more landed on his side.

The room of dogs slowly grew quiet with the sounds of sleeping. Stark lay sprawled out on his side, his legs twitching and pumping occasionally as he dreamed. Juneau slept silently and peacefully on his stomach, close at Benjamin's side.

Flicking his ear he curled letting the fire warm just one side of his body. Nestling his nose deep into his fur he grew tired. The fire kept his slightly damp fur warm. He didn't know if it was day or night outside.

Sita flicked her ears in her sleep, the muffled voices on the television keeping her half-awake. Her Gail gradually stopped wagging as she felt into a deeper sleep. The occasional shuffle of the other dogs stopped her from fully sleeping, and kept her alert.

(Hokay, let us fast forward to le morning.)

   Sunlight slowly began to filter in through the frozen, frosted over window. Juneau was the first one awake, excitement in the newly starting sled season forcing him from his sleep at first light. Enthusiasm running through the husky's veins, he hopped to his feet on the couch, turning towards Benjamin. With a yip of excitement, he crept his large frame up onto the sleeping man's stomach, licking his face to wake him. Benjamin flinched and let out a groan. "I get it, I get it. I'm up." He grumbled, shoving Juneau off of him. The excited brute hopped down from the couch. "Everyone get up! Sledding season starts today! We've got stuff to do!" He barked to wake up the sleeping sled dogs.
   Stark twitched in his sleep, opening one eye as Juneau barked at them. Groggily, he sat up, one ear half flopped over like always. "Hey, keep it down, man. I'm tryin' to get my beauty sleep." He said, putting his head back down and closing his eyes with a sleepy smile.

   Juneau rolled his eyes at the sleepy Chinook and hopped on him, tugging at his ear. "C'mon, get up you lazy mutt." He growled playfully, tugging Stark's head up. The Chinook shot his eyes open and sat up, forcing the husky from his side. "Alright, alright." He grumbled, shaking his head free of Juneau's grip.

One of her paws slid out from beneath her, causing her to topple sideways. She landed on the floor with a growl, "Ouch." She muttered, standing up and shaking her fur the get rid of the dust that had clung to her while she was on the floor.

Dingo must've drifted off. The door was wide open and the snow had ceased. One other dog was still here. Licking his muzzle he trotted outside to find his owner shoveling and the other dogs jumping around each other. Padding out he was too tired to join the play. Snow was piled higher than he was in the places his owner hadn't shoveled yet.

Stark scrambled to his feet in surprise as the fae toppled off the couch. He stared at her with wide eyes for a moment, then burst into laughter. "Morning, sunshine." He joked, giggling some more. His ears perked as Benjamin rose to his feet.
"Alright, guys. Let's hitch up. Gotta make a run to Nome to pick up some supplies for the general store." He announced to the dogs. Juneau stood faithfully at his side, staring up at him, panting. "After we get back from that delivery, we'll get some training done like I've promised." The musher added, putting on his heavy jacket.

She muttered to herself lifting from her paws and padding into the front room where the others were. Her grey tail wagging as she looked at the others, Benjami putting on his jacket and hearing his words. "Morning" she muttered looking at the other canines and dipping her head slightly, pushing out her front paws in a stretch then retrieving them back and shaking herself.

Nanuck heard Yukon waking up as he shuffled in his bed, letting out a grunt the large canine lifted to his paws and let out a yawn then stretchinf. His tail thrashing side to side as his owner woke up "Hey Nanuck boy" he smiled rubbing his hand between the canines ears, the red husky let out a bark as his tail continued to wag "Go wake the others" his musher instructed as he headed towards his dresser to get ready. Nodding his head he squeezed out the door and bounded downstairs.

Tikaani heard a bark and her head whipped up her eyes still slightly shut, the thudding of pawsteps then sounded down the stairs and she guessed it was Nanuck. Letting out a huff she lifted to her paws and stretched then yawning. Sighing she looked at the ground from the sofa and shrugged, lovering onto her stomach again as she lay on the sofa waiting for the others to wake. Her tail wagging.

It had snowed all night, leaving a knee deep snow that capped the ground of the town. Juneau was the first out the door, dashing around outside and visibly happy to see the snow. He dove head first into the powder, hopping out and shaking out his chocolate brown pelt. Panting happily, he loped through the snow and over to Benjamin, who was zipping up his heavy winter coat. Leaping up, he put his forepaws on the musher's chest, curved tail wagging. "Alright, alright. C'mon you guys, let's go get you hitched up." The man said with a chuckle, shoving the husky off him. Juneau danced in a circle and quickly followed after as Ben led them to the barn not far out back.

Stark bounded outside after the lead dog, pouncing into the snow. Bringing his now snow-covered head up, he turned to glance at the others, panting. "C'mon! Time to go!" He barked enthusiastically, shaking off his head and dashing after Benjamin and Juneau, leaving a trail of spraying snow behind him.

Post by: sparticles on August 20, 2013, 01:29:24 pm: Eska looked at Benjamin and the others her tail whipped to and fro as she bounded towards the door scratching at it, then looking back at her human whining in excitement and eager to get out. One he trotted over and opened to door she bounded out with the others joyful barks escaped her maw as she began rolling in the freezing, soft snow. It had fallen all night and had grown pretty deep causing to canines and human to slightly sink down; but they were use to it and it they could handle it. Once instructed to go to the barn she nodded and bounded out the front yard of the small house her tail continuing to wag. The grey husky bounded up to the shed leaving paw prints in the snow.

Nanuck bounded down the stairs and hit the bottom with a thud, the bursting into the front he realized the canines were already waking; they didn't have the biggest team at the moment but it would soon grow. He nodded at Tikaani and padding into the kitchen waiton for Yukon to come down to prepare their morning meal. The red huskies tail wagged as he padded towards the door frame and waied for his master, he was quite excited for their tranining session today. The brutes ears twitched at the sudden sounds his tail thumping against the wooden frame.

Tikaani heard the loud thuds as they began to draw nearer, her head then whipping around as she spotted Nanuck burst through the door and shoot her a nod "Morning" she mutteres as she watched the red male trot into the kitchen then back out and sitting at the wooden frame. She assuemed he was waiting to be fed. Letting out another yawn she jumped off the sofa and lifted onto her hind legs peering out the window at the snow as it grew deeper over night. She heard Yukon heading down the stairs and her tail wagged.

She made her way through the frozen water, poking her head out every so often to see where she was going. She followed the others to the barn, her breath coming out as a thin mist. She jumped up on a rock beside the rock, her tongue hanging out of her mouth as she panted. She sat on this rock everyday they trained, it was her rock.

Juneau trotted confidently inside the barn, his paws leaving snow tracks on the straw that littered the barn floor. Tail curved over his back, the husky paced around the sled, letting out a quick bark of excitement to Benjamin as he dashed back over to the human. Benjamin moved over to the back of the barn and took one of the harnesses off of a hook. Juneau recognized it instantly and sprang over to the human, who was crouching now. Benjamin grasped the dog's collar to keep him still as he slipped his harness on and adjusted it to size. Giving Juneau a pat on the flank, he stood back up and took off another harness. Trudging over to each individual, he fitted them all with their specific harness to prepare them to hitched to the sled.

She stood still as Benjamin slipped her harness over her head, once it was adjusted, she padded over to Juneau, the male lead dog, and sat beside him. She waited patiently for the rest of the canines to get their harnesses fitted. She cocked her head slightly, her ears folded at the tip as usual.

She would throw herself in the cold carpet and roll around for a few seconds then hurry along again, arriving at the barn and following the others inside. A small puppy like bark escaped her maw as her harness was fitted, Eska looked at the long sled and a smile grew across hee face as she padded ovee to it and placed her paws on the metal frame, then looking back and Benjamin waiting for him to place them in their spots and to be clipped onto the sled.

Working front to back, Benjamin began to clip each dog's harness to the line until everyone was finally hooked up. The husky shifted his weight from forepaw to forepaw in excitement while Benjamin led them outside. He pulled at the harness, encouraging the dogs behind him to move forward as well, panting with the weight of the sled behind him.
Once outside, after a quick inspection of the line, Benjamin went back to the sled and positioned himself on it. With a click of his tongue, he shouted out the word the dogs had longed to hear for so long. "Mush!" Flinching at the word, Juneau threw himself forward, the harness pulling on his chest as he tugged the sled into motion.

Stark danced on his paws, tail wagging in anticipation. As Juneau and Sita tugged the sled forward, he let out a quick yip and lunged forward enthusiastically, the metal clips on his line and harness jingling with every movement.

Once being led outside and Benjamin positioned himself then yelling mush a smile grew across her face as she heaved the sled forward her tail wagging as flakes of snow flew from behind her.

He started to pace outside. It was beginning to get cold outside. He barked to let Yukon know he was outside. Panting he started to scrabble at the snow as he waited.

Juneau let out a few barks as he tugged the sled along, his tongue lolling from the side of his open jaws. His breath rolled out of his maw in a misty vapor as it collided with the icey air. He pulled the sled and team around to the snow covered trail towards Nome, where they would pick up the items to bring back to town.

Esak sprinted behind the lead dogs help pulling the team and making it turn smoothly around turns. Her tongue continuing to lol out her mouth as snow flew from her paws. Small barks escaped the grey huskies maw as she continued to urge onward her tail continuing to wag as her muscles rippled.

Yukon came downstairs and heard barks opening the door he watched as the brute entered "Hey boy!" He smiled patting Dingo on the head between the ears as he shut the door behind him. "Best get breakfast guys, can't start the day on an empty stomach.." The human smiled whistling for the canines to enter the kitchen as he prepared the meal.
Nanuck watched as Yuko entered the room and opened the door allowing Dingo in, the words breakfast caused his head to whip around and his tail to wag. The red husky let out a loud, echoing bark as him and the other canines entered the room. Sitting on his haunches he looked up at his owner with his icey blue optics, waiting patiently for his meal.

Tikaanis head whipped around seeing Yukon enter the room, barking she jumped up at the window her tail continuing to wag. "Calm down girl we'll be out sooner or later.." He chuckled roughly patting her on the side. Letting out a bark she followed suit into the kitchen with the others and watched as Dingo entered "Morning" she muttered again then taking a place near Nanuck as they awaited their meal.

Sitting down his tongue was out of his jaws anticipating breakfast. He swallowed as Yukon put down a few silver bowls and poured kibble in them. Rushing to his he started to crunch down on the hard food.

Post by: sparticles on August 21, 2013, 11:45:29 am: Nanuck smirked as Yukon held to bowls in his hand then placed them on the floor, his brow raised as he realized they were empty and he looked up at his owner. Who now seemed to be holding a bag of kibble in his hands and pouring it into the bowls. Once his was full he lifted to his paws and crouched down slightly as he began to wolf down the kibble, his tail continuing to wag as he focused on the bowl and the food that still remained in it.

Tikaani watched as the bowls were placed on the ground but to her surprise they were empty, tilting her head she let out a huff as she watched what Yukon was doing. Then realizing he was retrieving the kibble her head slung back to its normal poisition and her tail wagged as she watched him pour it; once done she watched as he put the bag away in a large cupboard and went to another preparing a meal for himself. Shrugging she crouched down and began nibbling on her meal.

Stark was jerked forward by the lead dog's spring forward, but he adjusted quickly, shaking his head. He let out a brief sigh of relief as the lead dogs slowed their pace, thus slowing all the others'. Benjamin called out commands from the back, praising the dogs every now and then as they slid down the beaten sled trial through the woods.

She narrowed her eyes against the snow that fell, whipping against their faces as they pulled the sled against the wind. She adjusted o the speed of the pack her tongue hanging out as she breathed as evenly as possible to keep up the pace. She could hear the odd growl or bark behind her, ensuring her that the others were all alright.

Esak let out a small bark as the musher shouted haw so they turned righ, the swing dogs gliding It as she held pull it along, letting out a snarl as her paw slipped on a patch of ice; but nothing to knock her off her task. The grey canine let out a low huff as the lead dogs slowed the pace shrugging she lossened a bit allowing the sled to be pulled slower, looking behind her at the wheel dogs letting out a bark then whipping back around pulling the sled.

After a few hours of hard travel, alternating between a trot and a lope, the sled team neared the city limits of Nome. Frost had lined Juneau's face and he couldn't feel his paws anymore, but he still faithfully trudged forward. Benjamin had them slow once they entered the back side of town on an old trail that kept them away from the bustling main streets lined with cars. Juneau gave his head a hard shake, shaking off the crystal-like frost. "Alright guys, you can take a rest here for a while while I go collect supplies and junk." Benjamin called after shouting the command to halt. Panting hard, Juneau obeyed the call and stopped, immediately plopping down to his haunches in the snow.

Stark drooped his head, still tugging the Team Dogs behind him to guide everyone else while they slowed and entered the outskirts of Nome. Given permission to halt, the Chinook instantly plopped down in the snow, laying on his belly. His ears were pointed up, except for his left one which almost always was folded just below the tip. Sides heaving, he shook the snow and frost off his face and took a moment to catch his breath.

She painted heavily, her chest heaving in and out as she rested her head in her paws. Her tail thumped against the frozen ground as she watched people walk past, barely giving them a second glance. As her breathing slowed, she looked behind her at the others that were mainly on the ground and panting as well.

Eska bounded across the snow coated trail her tail continuing to wag as she linged forward her paws thudding against the ground causing large clumps of snow to fly in all different directions. A smile grew across the huskies face as she could spot Nome, where they would soon be arriving. Once getting closer towards the town Benjamin allowed them to slow down until coming to a sudeen stop, with a nod of her head she plopped down onto her side and began heaving small ammounts of air which would allow her to get her breath back faster.

Moments later, Benjamin returned, with a huge bag of raw cuts of beef. Juneau immediately hopped to his feet, straining at the line to try and greet the musher. Benjamin patted the husky's head and began to set down the food and water for each dog. Everyone now having food and water, Benjamin stretched his arms. "Okay, now I'm going to go and fetch the supplies and mail we're supposed to carry back." He announced under his breath before turning around and disappearing inside the back of a building. Juneau eagerly lapped at the water in the bowl that was set in front of him, not bothering to even glance at the food until the water was gone.

Stark, laying on his belly, stared at the raw side of beef just in front of him. Lazily, he simply crawled towards it on his belly, not feeling like standing up just yet. Grabbing the meat with his paws, he went to work gnawing at the chewy raw beef.

She sat back from the meat once she had finished, watching as it began to freeze as it's temperature dropped. She licked her paws, cleaning the remains of the meat off of them. Once she was done, she licked her lips, lying down on her side.

Dingo licked his muzzle as a few crumbs stuck to it. His bowl was empty with only a few pieces left that he had forgotten. Sitting up he scratched his ear as the other's ate their breakfast. Dingo started to walking in circles as he waited to pass his time quicker. The sled dog sat down dizzy after spinning for a minute.

He murmured to himself, raising a forepaw to lick some snow and frost off of it. Letting out a huff, he sat back up and kept his gaze locked on the back door of the building, impatiently waiting Benjamin's return. "C'moonnn. Just come back already. I'm ready for some training!" He exclaimed under his breath, letting his bushy tail sweep back and forth in the snow.

Stark lay on the ground lazily just behind the two Lead Dogs, gnawing mindlessly at a small bone that was all left over from his meal. He perked his ears to overhear Juneau's enthusiasm to get back on the trail. "Take it easy, man. We just got here. Some of us need a chance to rest before going all the way back and jumping right in to training." The Chinook yipped in a mellow tone as always, quickly returning to chewing on his bone.

She glanced around her and her gaze rested on Juneau, who was growing impatient. She grinned at him in an upside-down sort of way. "He'll be back soon." She said simply, rolling back over and shaking her pelt to get rid of the snow that clung to her fur.

Post by: sparticles on August 23, 2013, 05:31:59 pm: Eska wolfed down the meat satisfying her hunger then looking towards the bowl of water she lifted to her paws and padded towards the bowl, craning her neck she slid out her tongue and began lapping down the now freezing liquid causing her head to jerk back slightly from brain freeze; ignoring it she continued to gulp it down. Once done she lowered onto her haunches then the pack her tail wagging as she let out a few impatient barks for Benjamin to hurry. Sighing she began circling for a few minutes the rope getting wrapped around her legs and she slipped slightly and lended on her side. "Damn rope.." She chuckled wriggling her legs to her it off, then wagging her tail to get it off that. Licking her lips one last time she sat on her haunches impatiently waiting.

Nanuck finished his breakfast and let out a bark as Yukon finished the last on his plate, putting it in the sink, cleaning it then placing it on the rack her turned to look at the canines. All eight dogs sat staring up at him and he smiled "Let's go!" He instructed in a happy tone as he opened the front door allowing all the canines to bound out into the snow their tails wagging and held high causing him to chuckle. Slamming the door behind him he opened the wired fence that surrounded the back yard of his hut and padded towards the shed.
Nanuck was first to bound out the door with his tail up and wagging, many happy but deeps barks escaped the red huskies maw as he turned to see his pack bounding out the house ready for their training. Then tunring his head he noticed Yukon heading towards the shed, letting out a bark he bounded up the slight slope with the human eager to start his training. The muscular canine was first at the shed looking down and waiting for the others to come up sitting on his haunches with his tail wagging.

Tani finished her meal last and looked at the others who were already sitting patiently, letting out an awkward sort of cough she sat on her haunches and waited for Yukon to lead them out. Once being allowed out she let out a bark and bounded out the front doot behind a few others as she continued to let out barks. Laping into the snow and landing face first she shook her head and chuckled, then sprinted up towards the shed.

Dingo dashed out after the other dogs. He bound through the snow with his paws slamming against the snow to the shed. Suddenly the snow gave way and he fell belly-deep into the cold powder. Barking he pushed through the snow still excited about training. His tail wagged behind him as snow covered his face. Once he had made it to the shed he was one of the last there. Dingo looked up at the other dogs still above the snow.

The sound of pacing behind him made Stark glance over his shoulder just in time to see Eska topple over after tangling herself in the line. Perking his ears, he burst into laughter, his tail wagging with amusement. "Ha! Smooooth." He barked through his chuckling.

Finally, Benjamin appeared in the doorway of the nearby building, arms full with a huge cargo crate. Juneau tugged at the line in excitement, tail wagging rapidly behind him. Benjamin moved to the sled and plopped the crate down on it with a thud. "Alright guys. Two more crates, then we'll get on the trail back to town." He murmured, rolling his shoulders as he walked past the dogs and back into the building.

Eska looked and Stark and raised a brown then chuckled slightly realizing it was quite amusing "Oh your lucky I'm tied up Starky, or I would have to march over there and break something.." She muttered saying the name in a sarcastic way smiling slightly at the brute as she shook the last of the rop off her still chuckling from the situation, watching as Benjamin came out then went back in to fetch more crates. Then turning back to face Stark.

Yukon slowly opened up the shed being the last to arrive as he entered the warm, wooden building. Looking around he pointed and slowly walked towards a sheet then pulling it off to reveal the sled. He then looked at the excited canines and chuckled "Ok, ok settle down guys!" He instructed to his team as he grabbed each dog and lined them up then clipping their harnesses onto the rope.
Nanuck barked at Yukon to hurry as all the canines had arrived at the top, his tail wagged impatiently as he spun in a small circle waiting. Once the shed door was open he lifted allowing the others in first his posture straight as he proudly trotted towards the sled being first clipped on, his tail wagged as he waited for the rest of his pack to be clipped up.

Tiki was one of the last to arrive at the shed but being her old clumsy self before she reached the top she toppled on a patch of ice which caused her to slightly topple backwards down the slope, chuckling she bounded back up and burst through into the shead realizing everyone but Nanuck were inside. The black husky let out a bark brushing her side against the humans leg as she waited to be clipped up; order going from lead dogs to wheel dogs.

Post by: sparticles on August 23, 2013, 10:29:09 pm: Once the dogs were clipped in Yukon called for them and had them drag the sled out of the barn, once being dragged out he carefully place himself on the platform he needed to stand and and looked at the dogs as sone turned around "Ready?" He muttered and some barked. Smiling he nodded his head "Mush!" He instructed and the sled jerked forward; then they were off.
Nanucks tail wagged as all the dog were finally clipped on Yukon then leading them out into the snow, the red canine nodded at Ayasha and looked at Yukon as he spoke then letting out a bark along with the others. The final words were spoken and excitement ran through the male husky "Mush!" The human instructed and he lunged forward with the grey female causing the others to follow. The lead dogs paws thudded the ground and his tail wagged as they sped across the snow coated terrain.

Tikans tail wagged as she was clipped onto the sled then turning her head she looked at Dingo and nodded then turned realizing the sled was moving, smiling she jumped forward pulling the sled. Yukon spoke and she let out a bark her tail wagging as he shouted "Mush!" Lunging forward causing the sledge to slightly jerked the pack began bounding across the snow filled landscape.

He didn't have as much weight to pull as the dogs up front but Dingo still had a considerable amount as all did. They sled sped along small snow hills as it was pulled forward. The gray sled dog panted in excitement as the whole train of dogs raced across the ice and snow. His front paws almost brushed the dog's in front him's hind paws. Taking long stride he kept up with the rest of the pack.

Nanuck let out a bark to let the others know he would be picking up the pace a little, extending his strids his pace grew faster and the pack began lunging across the snow pretty fast, snow flicking up from their paws and the sled. The brown huskies tail continued to sway to and fro slightly and he drew hs tongue back in his maw a sort of serious look on his face, Ayasha then looked at him and smile but she gave her a small nod and focused on the trail.

Tikaanis ears perked as Yukon spoke another intruction "Haw!" She understood what it ment as they always seemed to turn after it, but it was only really used for the lead dogs. Suddenly the lead dogs made a right then being followed by the swing dogs as they helped the sled go smooth around the corner, the team dogs pullinf a small ammount of weight also slightly helping to glide the sled. Tikaani and Dingo two of the stronger onces had the most weight on their tails and had to urge the sled onward. But she didn't mind her tail wagging as the trained her tongue lolling out her maw as she would make the odd happy bark.

From the ground, he narrowed his eyes at the other lead dog before chuckling a bit. "Heh, okay, okay, you got me." He chuckled, shoving Sita off from on top of him. Hopping back to his paws, he shook out his chocolate brown fur and turned to face the other lead dog. Springing off his hind paws, he barreled into her, nipping at her scruff playfully.
Just then, Benjamin emerged from the building with the last of the cargo and dropped it onto the sled. "Hey, knock it off, you two, get in line." He called to the wrestling lead dogs with a subtle chuckle. "Alright, guys. Let's get back to town. Mush!" He called at the dogs. Immediately Juneau hopped off of Sita and lunged forward, tugging fiercely at the harness as the wheel dogs worked to get the sled into motion.

Stark watched Sita creep up on Juneau with a smirk, tail wagging in entertainment. As she sprang, he immediately started to laugh. "You showed him." He chuckled stupidly. As Benjamin called out, he isntantly hopped to his paws, almsot being pulled from his footing by the burst forward by the lead dogs.

She quickly adjusted to Juneau's pace and dug her claws into the frozen ground to make sure she wouldn't slip. She glanced behind her to see how the rest of the pack were doing, her muzzle turned up in a smile. She turned back to face the wind once more, narrowing her eyes to stop the falling snow from getting into them. A sound caused her ears to flick as a hawk screeched from high above them, following them. She laughed to herself, feeling the wind flowing through her fur.

Slowing to a hasty trot, he trudged through the white powder that was almost up to his belly, pulling hard until they were successfully out of the small deep spot. Giving his hind leg a brief shake to kick some sticking snow from his pad, he quickly burst into a lope again now that the snow was at a comfortable depth again.

Dingo's paws turned with the train as they were ordered. As the pace increased his paws bound faster to keep up with the train of dogs. It had started to snow lightly but the microscopic ice crystals just melted into his grey fur. The Alaskan Malamute's curled tail bounced as Dingo bounded over a small snow mound.

A howl escaped Nanucks maw as he bounded across the snow his muscles rippled as he kicked up snow, his tail wagging and his tongue continuing to lol out his muzzle. Turning he checked on his pack to see how they were going and a smile grew across his face as they were doing just fine. Snow began falling from the sky and he looked up watched the small flakes fall, nodding slightly he dipped his head "Mush!" Yukon instructed again so Nanuck and Ayasha picked up the pace along the stright trail.

Tikaani bounded across the snow her tail continuing to wag as a small pups expression grew across her face, the wind blew through her fur as she bounded across the snow. White flakes began falling infront of her eyes and she realized It was snow, snapping her jaws at it in order to catch some. Coming to a sudden stop when Yukon instructed them to go faster, barking she picked up the pace along with the rest of the back, the female wheel dog dragging the sled across the snow with ease.

Eska looked up as the snow had begun to fall again and a slight smile grew across her face, sticking out her tongue in order to catch few of the white falling crystals. Her tail wagging as they continued to pad across the snow filled terrain the wind blowing through her grey fur causing a small relaxed feeling to run through her.

Post by: Jackkdaw on August 26, 2013, 01:03:08 pm: The weight of the sled made it much more difficult to drag through the snow, greatly slowing their overall pace. Juneau, while he still desperately tried to tug against the harness, forced himself to slow the pace back down to a trot to avoid exhausting himself and the others. Trudging the two hour trail back to town, he let out a tired huff through his heavy panting as Benamin shouted the order to halt. Juneau instantly plopped down to his belly in the snow, hanging his head and panting hard from the effort the weighted sled put on them.

Stark held his head low as he was pulled along behind the leaders. He let out a sigh of relief when the lead dogs slowed the pace. Though the slower pace helped a lot, the heavy sled still put quite the strain on the Chinook and the rest of the team, he was sure. This being theier first time out all year, he knew everyone was pretty rusty. Slowing to a clumsy stop, Stark's legs buckled beneath him and he immediately plopped over to his side, panting thankfully for the break. Benjamin had already begun to unload the sled.

She closed her eyes and rolled over onto her side, the snow began to fall more heavily and coated her fur, making it look like she had a white blanket on. She sighed and shook her fur, sending the frozen crystals flying in all directions.

Panting slightly she continued to lunge after the alphas trying to keep the pace steady, then letting out a sigh of relief as the pace was slowed her tail wagging slightly. Once the team came to a stop she jerked forward slightly then dropping onto her stomach and panting, rolling in the cold powder in order to cool herself down.

I'll give you a little off leash downtime for a couple hours before we start training for the races." He said as he began to unhitch each individual starting with the two Lead dogs.

Juneau sat up so that his musher could unhook his harness. Once free, he quickly made for the barn without hesitation, where all of their food and water bowls were kept. Nosing the large door open, he trotted inside, panting. His paws crunched on the straw that lined the barn floor while he padded to his water bowl and instantly began to mindlessly lap it up.

After being unhooked, Stark quickly followed Juneau's lead into the barn, where he selfishly began to lick his water bowl dry.

Once being unclipped she bounded after the other towards the barn her tongue lolling out her paw, tripping she face planted the snow then lifting her head of. She shook her head causing flakes to fly off, chuckling she bounded into the barn and began lapping up her water then wolfing down her meal.

Stark quickly finished drinking every drop of water in his bowl. Licking the last droplets from his muzzle, he plopped down to his haunches to scratch at his ear briefly before hopping back up. Wagging his tail, he trotted out of the barn to roll in the snow for a bit until the others were finished drinking.

She began to climb the steps two at a time, avoiding the holes that were dotted around the wood. Once she reached the top, she climbed out of a small trapdoor leading to the roof. She walked cautiously over to the edge and peered down at the others in the snow. She sat back on her haunches and sighed in contempt, briefly closing her eyes.

Stark rolled around in the deep snow as if itching his back. Rolling back over to his belly, he hopped to his feet and gave his golden brown fur a violent shake to rid it of the snow caked on his back. Tongue lolling from his grinning maw, he perked his pointed ears at Eska. With a mischievous smirk, he crouched down in the snow and silently crept up behind her. With a playful yip, he sprang up out of the powder and tackled the husky, one of his favorite pastimes, lightly nipping at her neck as the two barreled over.

Juneau finished lapping at his water, raising his head at Stark's playful barks. Running his tongue over his nose, the chocolate brown husky shook his had and padded outside. He hopped up onto a pile of crates just outside the barn and sat down, watching the play fighting in amusement.

She cautiously got up shaking her fur, sh looked towards the others and walked towards Juneau, nervously she then said "Hi...My name is-" she yelped in surprise as she fell down she then stood back up and nervously chuckled "Heh...You can tell I'm new huh?" Her ears pinned.

Just as she was about to turn around a loud yip pierced through her ears and cause her to bark, rolling over she realized it was Stark who had infact pinned her. Letting out a small giggle she began barking and pawing at the male, rolling around in order to breake free. Then playfully nipping at his legs her tail continuing to wag.

((I'm going to have to post for Nanuck and Tikaani, can't wait for Bingo to be posted for Yukons getting bored I can feel it xD ))

The red husky let out a grunt as he began to slow down the pace, realizing the pack would begin to tire and they would have to stop, looking at Ayasha he dipped his head slightly drawing back which she also copied, the team soon slowing down. Nodding his head he looked down at the hill that sat infront of them "Easy!" He barked to the back as they began sprinting down the hill, leeping a steady pace in order to stay safe. Once lunging down the hill the pack continued along a straight trail with few turns.

Tikaani looked back at Yukon and smiled he seemed to really enjoy his job, whipping her head back around she realized the snow hat stopped falling and her eyes widened once again as she peered around. Letting out another happy bark she watched as the packs pace slowered, so she slowed to as she heard Nanuck shout. Nodding she slowed a little more in order to make the sled fall safely down the hill, smiling as they reached the bottem they continued along the trail.

His gaze wandered to the nearby shore, where the ice cold waters calmly crashed onto the snow-covered beach. "Race ya to the shore." He yipped with a determined smirk.

A sudden yelp followed by the obvious sounds of a dog tumbling over caught Juneau's attention. Perking his ears, he glanced down at the newest member of the team, raising a brow. "Heh, walk much?" He chuckled jokingly. "Yeah, I've seen you around. Didn't get much of a chance to properly welcome you." He added with another chuckle, his curved tail swaying behind him. "Well anyway, name's Juneau."

She whined as some of the huskies over here would laugh when hearing she came from Texas, he sat down glancing towards her paws ready for a laugh to burst out of Juneau's mouth.

Chime licked his chops as he sat alone. His tail wrapped around his paws. His eyes watched everyone goof around, and he lay down. He was still quite grumpy, well he was always. Not many of the team preferred to hang around with the Chinook.

"Well, after everyone gets a bit of rest we're gonna start training for the new racing season." He explained, sweeping a bit of snow off the top of the crate with his tail. Suddenly, he was caught by surprise as Sita toppled off the roof and into a deep pile of snow nearby. "Woah!" He yipped, hopping to his paws. "Are you okay?"

Stark slipped back down into a play bow while he waited for Eska's response, tail wagging slowly. His pointed ears flicked forward and he scrambled to his feet, spinning around just in time to see the female lead dog land with a thud into a pile of snow. Jaw dropping open, he stood silent for a moment, then burst into hysteric laughter once noticing she was okay. "Ha! Nice one!" He barked joyfully, trotting over to the husky.

She padded over, ignoring Stark's hysteric laughter, "Hello, I'm Sita." She introduced herself, "I'm one of the lead dogs along with Juneau." She added, nudging him playfully.

So he sat near them, observing the conversation. Chime was always mistaken to be a elder dog, the way he was always calm, or even grumpy at times. He was quite mature for his hyper breed. His tail slowly thumped on the snowy ground, as his calm, brown eyes were expressionless.

Katie walked away from the sled, after being unhooked. She panted a little bit, then stopped. Then.. she got an itch on her back. Growling, she rolled on her back, pushing herself forward with her back feet. She barked quietly, and rolled over again. Benjamin walked over, "Something on your back, Katie Bug?" Katie guessed that was her new nickname. She got on her feet and barked, rolling over and trying to get the itch. Benjamin thought for a bit, "An itch? Let me get that for you." Katie smiled and licked his hand thankfully.

Teddy perked her ears up and stood up trudging outside as it Begak to a trot she was becoming far from town. Her ears pinned back The thoughts running through her head of the Husky who called her a Idiot.

The Chinook felt a drop of snow drop on his velvety nose, and shook it off. Even though his job was in the snowiest place ever, Chime hated snow. He could stand and sit in it, but never lay down... As a couple snow fell onto his head, he shook it off. He looked like a total idiot shaking every bit of snow off as it hit him. "Stupid snow," he muttered under his breath.

Kiba trudged though the snow, growling weakly as more snow was drifting down. Her wounds slowed her, but her wolf blood urged her onwards, to a place far, far away. A place of safety. She doesn't know where to find it, but she kept on going. Her right hind leg left paw prints of blood. She wasn't sure how much longer she'll live. She lifted her ice blue eyes to see a trail into the forest. Thinking she might find a town to dig for food, she picked her pace up, strength of hope filling her limbs. How long will this make her go on? That was something she had to find out, by going forward.

She was looking around, her blue gaze sweeping everywhere. She limped down the trail, knowing some can go on for hours. She stopped so sudden that she almost flipped over. Her big form jerked forward, as her dazed eyes stared at what was before her. The path cut off into two, which made her gaze lazily at one, then the other. She dragged herself right, stumbling forward. She could smell the strange scent of humans, wafting down the trail. Food...food! She broke into a oddly gallop, her paws flinging everywhere, blood splattering the trail even more. Her heart beated faster, the more blood flowed in her veins, reaching the wound to fly into the world.

She raised her snowy head, shaking it so the snow would be out of her eyes. She stood, her big black form coated with snow here and there, with black fur poking out. She half limped half trotted to the town, her ice gaze sweeping everywhere. She spotted a shiny object, which she knew held human food. She nudged it, letting it tip over. She slid her body underneath the object, and it landed on her with a heavy blow. She struggled to stay standing, and lowered her body slowly and wiggled out. Only the round thing on the object had clattered on the ground. No human noticed. She stuck her muzzle in it and grabbed with her wolfish teeth onto a half eaten chicken. It was a little cold, but she ate all of it. Her strength was flowing in her limbs again, and she moved though the town, looking for a trail to lead her somewhere else.

Their trail wasn't too fresh, mostly because of the snow falling on her nose. She sniffed the ground. It was a few hours ago at least, and the trail was a little ways behind them. She trotted down the trail, wondering how long it was. From traveling for hours and finally having a small meal, she could barley feel her paws and nose, and the tip of her tail. She kept moving at a brisk pace, moving in a messy way instead of a graceful pattern. She followed the husky trail, from the way they where mingled together told her they where a group.

(Time boost! Your now two hours older) Kiba stopped, taking deeps breaths, a cloud of mist circling from her mouth. She plopped down in the middle of the trail. She could see the end, and the smells where stronger. But she was so tired... she stood, and dragged herself, her eyes looking everywhere wildly. "I wish...the huskys...have nice owner...or I'm dead..." she muttered out, her lips hard to move. She stopped, her eyes gazing at the barn. She plopped down, her eyes strain, leg bleeding. "Don't... think....can live..." She said as strong she could. Her eyes closed, and she drifted into sleep.

"Well, c'mon!" Stark yipped at Eska, giving her shoulder a shove with his paw. "Last one to the shore has to eat a pair of Benjamin's pants!" He barked, hopping into a play bow, then back to his four, taking a couple bounds towards the nearby snow covered beach. Tongue lolling, he jumped to a halt and spun around to see if Eska would take the challenge or not.

Juneau raised an eyebrow at the fae as she bounded off after Chime. Shrugging, the chocolate hughed husky rose to his feet and shook his pelt before hopping off of his crates and into the snow. He figured there was still a good couple hours or so to spare before Benjamin decides it's time for training. "I'm gonna go for a walk." He murmured to Sita as he brushed past. Trotting through the snow, he headed to his favorite spot for quiet time: the woods. The strong, distinctive scent of a canine.. and blood.. filtered through his nostrils. Wrinkling his nose, he curiously traced the scent. There must be a dog hurt out here! He exclaimed in his mind, the thought making him quicken his pace. The scent led him to an area not far from the barn, and he stumbled to a clumsy halt in surprise at what he saw. A dog! Instantly, Juneau darted over to the downed female, giving her neck a nudge with his muzzle. "Hey! Hey! Are you alright?" He barked, backing up and staring down at her, hoping she'd respond.

"Come on then!" She barked drawing her tongue back in then springing to all fours and lunging forward towards the snow coated beach her tail continuing to wag as small ammount of snow flicked up from her paws when she bounded across the soft powder.

Nanuck bounded across the snow as he spotted the medium sized house in the ditance, they had almost completed their usual route and would be heading home for a rest. The team slowly dragged the sled into the barn Yukon then jumping off and running across the line unclipping all the canines allowing them to drink and eat from their bowls.
The red shepherd yipped as he was unclipped then lunged towards his bowl crouching down his tongue slid out and he began to lap up the cool water, his tail continuing to wag. Padding out the barn he realized some of the othered were already out most playing and few resting, laying on his stomach the cold snow his him and a shiver ran through his body. The brutes tail continuing to wag as he watched the other canines.

Tikaani spotted the house and the barn in the distance a bark escaped her maw as they picked up the pace soon arriving at the barn, slowing they entered and stopped being unclipped from the line. Trotting to her bowl she quickly lapped out a few mouthfuls then chased Demon outside as he playfully shoved her. The two rearing onto their hind legs and pawing at one another.

His tongue lolled from the side of his mouth as he fought to catch up with Eska, the shore coming ever so closer. With a mischievous grin, the Chinook leaped off his paws once he was closer to the sprinting husky. Landing with his forepaws on top of her, he brought his hind paws down and instantly sprang off of the fae, using her as a sort of spring board. His cheap move put him just in front of her and he chuckled to himself, not even bothering to notice if she had face-planted from the move or not.

Snarling slightly she lifted her head and noticed Stark running off chuckling. Shaking the snow from her face as bounded after him, her tail wagging and a smirk across her face. The shore was now in sight and she loped forward gaining on the male slightly. Craning her neck she snapped it his legs and began swiping them with her paws, gently catching his leg after, hoping the brute would stumble she chuckled and shoved him.

Sita sat at the edge of the barn, watching as the falling snow brushed the tips of her paws. She glanced back at the rest of the pack and sighed, standing up and leaving the barn. She needed something to do, it was boring just sitting alone. She knew where Juneau's favourite place was. The woods. She followed his trail silently, her tail slowly swinging to and fro.
After a while of following his scent, the snow began to fall down in more heavy clumps and the trail began to fade away. She bent down so that her nose touched the ground, searching for any signs of him. She found none. "Juneau?" She called a few times, emerging from the woods and into a clearing. The snow began to swirl around in the wind, caking her fur in a white blanket. Sita had never been here before, but she kept moving forward, looking for any signs of the barn. Se narrowed her eyes to stop herself from becoming snow-blind and turned around slightly, a wave of panic rushed through her. She was lost.

Benjamin would be more than happy to help you." He yipped quickly, knowing his human would care for any dog. Suddenly a familiar voice barely reached his ears from the distance. "Sita? Sita, we're over here." He barked, hoping his voice would travel to wherever the other lead dog was. The heavily falling snow had cut off any chance of seeing too far.

Stark smirked, knowing he had the lead. Keeping his focus on his goal ahead, he was unaware Eska rapidly recovered and was gaining on him. His eyes widened as he suddenly felt a paw swatting at his hind leg, obviously tripping him up. Before he knew it, he was tumbling head over heels in the snow, losing his lead. Lowering his eyebrows, he shook his head and scrambled back to his feet. "Ohhhh that was cheap." He barked with a smirk, quickly darting after her.

Realizing he had gotten up she smiled and began swirving slightly to keep away from Stark and any of his tricks to cause her to lose the race, her tail continuing to wag as her tongue lolled out the side of her maw.

"Sita..." Kiba decided to help him since he was going to help her. "I...help...Sita..." She was able to say. Without waiting, she howled as loud as she could, "Sita!" Her body felt as if it was being crushed, by something so cold that she couldn't feel. "May warn...wild animals thrive." She looked into the forest with dazed eyes. She felt as if everything was a dream, and she would never wake up, to see daylight again. She knew that happens when your freezing to death. (Lol, got that part from a book. It had huskys, but didn't teach anything about them.)

Stak's tongue bounced from his jaws as he sprinted after Eska. The fae had reached the shore by then. Slowing his strides, he hopped to a bouncy halt beside the victor, panting. "Heh, okay, you win." He admited, straightening up. "But only because you play dirty." He added with a smirk, giving the husky's shoulder a push with his forepaw. The snow had begun to fall quickly, making visibility hazy all too quickly. The Chinook gazed up at the white and grey sky, laying his ears back. "We should probably get back. It would suck to get stuck out here in this white out."

A huff escaping her maw as large ammounts of snow began to fall from the sky, she turned and nodded at Stark "Yeah let's go.." She muttered whipping around and padding off, then sharply turning to make sure Stark was moving. Seeing he was she continued back to the pack.

Stark rolled his eyes and let out a light hearted chuckle before trudging towards the silhouetted form of the barn. Squinting his eyes, he peered through the thick falling snow, relying only on his sense of smell to guide him back now.

Juneau gazed back at the injured fae. "Don't worry about me. I won't get lost. We need to get you back to safety before the storm gets worse. Sita's strong. She can hold out until I can get to her." He reassured her with a brief smile.

Kiba gave a slight nod. "All...right..." She took a step ahead, her dazed eyes drifting to the brown husky. "Careful....." She said before she moved slowly toward the barn. She could feel more snow packing on top of her. She must've looked like some snow monster. She lowered her head and had her eyes half closed. (A long, few minutes later...)

Kiba peered into the barn before limping in. She looked at the huskys for a quick moment before moving away from the barn door. She no longer wanted to stand, so she just let herself flop onto the floor. She closed her eyes, glad to be warming up and could finally rest. She didn't care at the moment about the huskys around her.

She continued forward, obvilvious to the fact that she was leading herself further and further away from the barn. With her ears lay against the top of her head, she lay down in the snow. After a few last attampts of calling out any names that came to he frozen mind, she huffed and closed her eyes.

Juneau quietly said to the female once they entered the safe confines of the barn. "I'm going to go find Sita, now. I'll be back soon." He yipped before bounding out of the barn and into the bitter white out. His only guide in the heavy falling snow now was his sense of smell. He traced the faint, but familiar scent of Sita back into the woods. However, the scent soon faded into the blending scents of the woods and snow. Cursing under his breath, the husky trudged forward. "Sita?" He called out, now realizing the real danger of this situation.

Stark burst into the barn at full speed, skidding to a stop to violently shake the heavy snow from his tan pelt. Licking his nose to warm it a bit, he glanced behind to make sure Eska had followed, but something else caught his attention. A new dog. Tilting his head, the Chinook curiously trotted over to the laying female, eyeing her. "Woah. Who're you?" He barked, sniffing the new comer.

She heard the odd hoot of an owl, or caw of a crow, but she didn't hear any familiar sounds. As she was about to drift off, a sound erupted her dozing, it was very faint and barely audible, almost a whisper over the howling if the wind. "You're just hearing things." She told herself, growling quietly.

Padding into the barn she curled up and a large amount of hay and wrapped herself in a small ball to warm herself up. Once being more warm she padded towards the large arched door and lowered onto her haunches peering into the distance.

Leika padded through the newly blanketed snow. Her paw pads crunched on the crisp ice, leaving her radar-like ears flickering from side to side. Her tail curled high upon her flanks, acknowledging her content nature. She had been exploring for a while now, not knowing exactly where and what she was doing. The female husky sniffed the mingling air. She found scent of a hare, instinctively telling her to sprint towards the scattering rodent. Snow flew beyond her iced toes, her paws leaving prints on the terrain.

The chocolate colored husky blinked, shaking the building snow off his head. All he could see was white from the thickening snow flurries, forcing him to now fully rely on smell and hearing. Sneezing a bit, he wandered aimlessly in the pine woods, ears swiveling at every sound. "Sita? Can you hear me?" Juneau barked loud, hoping his voice would carry to his fellow sled dog who was lost in the bitter cold. At this rate, I'll never be able to find my way back if I do find her. He thought to himself, glancing over his shoulder then pressing on through the deep snow.

Her muscles worked hard and rippled with every stride she took as her round eyes locked onto the hare. Fog surrounded her frame, her body slipping into a freezing temperature. Leika clenched her pearls together to ignore the cold crystals that were piercing through her skin. She worked her muscles harder against the deepening snow, hoping more warmth would sprout through her limbs. The air she inhaled in did not help. It dried out her throat, making a snort of irritation fume in her lungs. A pine tree came into view, just a few yards away. The female husky slid into her breaks but instead stumbled forward, landing straight onto the hair. Luckily her jaws grasped it in time and the warm flesh ripped through her incisors. Blood stained the white blankets and she laid on her side, heaving for breath. The now quiet rabbit dangled from her jaws. That it what I call luck..

Turning his head he watched Damon and Skid bouncing around playing, a small smile on his face as his tail tapped against the ground. A cold feeling splatted onto his pelt and he turned to see Tikaani flicking snow at him "Come on" she smiled and he barked. Lifting to his paws the red husky bounded over and added few barks his tail arched as it rapidly wagged. Him and the fae in a bowing stance. Letting out a playful grow he chased the black female.

Tikaani bounded around with Glacier for a moment many playful barks escaping her maw, the brute then shot off after Ayasha and Snow. Whipping around she noticed Red laying alone, smiling she padded over behind him and begun flicking snow at him. Stopping she smirked as the red canine looked at her "Come on!" She barked and the brute joined in. Her and Nanuck got into a playing stance yaps escaping their maws and their tails rapidly wagged. A loud, deep bark pierced Tikaanis ears and she smilind and whipped around. Pacing off around as Nanuck chased her.

A faded voice was barely able to catch Juneau's ear in the whiteout, but it did. "Sita! Stay where you are. I'll come to you!" The husky barked in response, quickly plunging through the building snow towards the voice. Though his sense of sight was virtually useless from the thick falling snow, he was able to catch the fae's faint scent. Working hard to trace it through the flurry. At last, a jaded canine figure became slightly visible. "Sita!" He yipped joyously, bounding towards her. "I thought I'd never find you!" He panted, wagging his curly tail in relief. "C'mon, we've got to work our way back before this storm gets worse."

Since they lived with a human, she thought they would be all bossy just because they ran some race and won. She remember these huskys belonged to a human. I'll mention it later. She decided. She studied the husky for a moment, gaining details now that her vision wasn't as blurred.

Yukon shouted to the team as he realised the storm was getting a lot worse and he didn't want the canines ending up in bad condition. When the canines did run back to the large, wooden house he brought them inside and put on the heating and the tv.
Nanuck continued to bound around in the snow with Eska his tail wagging as he swiped a paw and clipping the faes legs causing her to stumble, a small patch of ice then causing him to be unable to stop. Fulling a weird face the male flew over the female and landed almost fave first in the snow. Then swiping a paw at the snow flicking it at the fae. Suddenly his head jerked in the direction of the house as he heard Yukons voice "Come on everyone the storms getting worse!" He ordered and bounding towards the house. Padding inside along with the other seven canines. Huffing he padded into the living room and placed himself on the sofa by Yukon, his gaze locked on the tv as it shoed husky teams racing.

Tikaani grinnded as she turned to see the brute sprinting after he, chuckling he turned around and began picking up the pace only to have her legs clipped. Falling face first into the snow she lifted her head sneezing. Then peering over to see Red skidding towards her then flying into the snow. Chuckling the black and white fae lifted to her paws only to have snow flicked at her, narrowing her eyes in a playful was she slashed a paw through the snow causing it to hit the male; then stopping at Yukins voice. She looked at Nanuck for a moment as he told them to head back to the house. Nodding she bounded down the hill and burst through the door behind the others. Yukon then closing it. Some of the canines seemed to have seated themselves on the sofa; Skid, Red and snow. Shrugging she placed herself infront of the fire and peered at the tv.

But she listened quietly as he spoke of his owner. She wasn't sure how to react to that. "Well...if you want to hear a short part of my story, then you'll know why." She took a deep breath, and began. "I was told my mother, a husky, had escaped from our owner, and was wandering around in a town. She was near the edge of a forest when another dog attacked her. Well, a wolf nearby must've heard her yelps, and instinct told him to save her. He fought off the dog, and they both fell in love. My mother ended up being with him for a few weeks, but when she was on her own, are owner found her and took her home. A few months later, came one pup, the looked nothing like the other dogs, nor her mother. She was pitch black, so black she almost looked blue. She was bigger than normal pups. The owner found out, and was happy. He..." She paused. She fell silent, to see if he wanted to keep listening.

Nanuck peered at the tv carefully watching with interest as the four teams bounded across the snow, his tail wagging in amusement as the race continued. Many barks escaping his maw as he peered at the screen with a face of concentration. Yukon chuckling at the eight canines as they barked at the tv. Tikaani jumping up in excitement blocking the tv "Tikaani your blocking the tv!" He barked a shocked look on his face smiling "Thanks!" He barked again as she lay back down. His gaze locked onto the tv.

Tikaani peered at the tv amusement filling her face as her eyes lit up, the black faes tail wagging as she watched the teams continue across the snow coated wilderness; the dogs on the tv letting out many bark. Her ears perked at the words from the humans on the tv. Watching as Grants team fell slightly behind. The fae gasped and lowered a brow at the tv; then jumping up as the team excelled and ended back ontop. Jumping up and howling then whipping around as Red spoke "Whoops sorry!" She barked looking at Bingo and chuckling as she lay back on her stomach "Getting excited missy!" The grey brute chuckled as the two canines lay near eachother amusement taking over them.

He began to hit be, and my mother knew it was a bad idea to attack him, or even to cross his path in one of his moods, but she tackled him, and..." she was quiet for a few moments. "He.. he stabbed her. Stabbed her until she could barely stand. It was hard for her to tale care of me. I'll explain why I have this wound." She shifted around to a awkward spot to show her leg, a deep cut mark. "The day before I escaped, his was mad at me because I found a place to hide from...well, never mind about what I was hiding from. He had a knife, the thing that cut my mother. But it was tied onto a bat for some reason. So, he swung it, and it hit my leg as I tried to flee. The knife had made the mark deep, and he got me trapped between him and a wall. He hit my injured leg, right on the spot, many times before he let me go." Her ice gaze had shifted, staring to space as if she was in a trance.

Team dogs: Demon (Male, black and white husky, twins -->), Glacier (<-- Twins, male, black and white husky).

Kiba ears twitched at a jingling noise. Never hearing such a thing, she looked over her shoulder, turning her body slightly not to strain herself. "Hey," the dog yipped, and it slightly made Kiba uneasy. From the past, many dogs tried to act as friends, only to blame her for something, or to hurt her. "You know her?" Kiba said, her voice a low mumble, as she spoke to Stark but had her eyes on the dog. She looked liked a husky, but there was a mix somewhere, one she never seen before. She felt her head go lower, and she lifted her head and craned her neck a little as she scanned the dog ear-tip to tail.

Nanuck watched the tv for a few more minutes Jacks team seeming to race forward and end up leading the pack. His tail wagging as he watched the canines glide across the snow "That'll be us soon!" He barked a smirk on his face as the team looked at him "Sure will be!" Demon muttered with a smile then turning back to face the tv. All the canines seemed focused on the tv and a sigh escaped his maw, peering out the window as he watched the continous snow fall.

Tikan looked over towards red as he spoke and smiled "Yeah we will be, just with a little more practice.." She muttered to herself then smiling at Demon as he also spoke about them racing. She peered out the window for a moment and let out a sigh; her optics drifting back towards the tv as she watched Jacks team excel to the front. Letting out a bark she jumped up and her tail wagged, peering towards Skid who raised a brow at her with a chuckle. Grinning the black husky plopped herself back down and glance at the tv.

Kiba smiled at Stark's reply. He seemed to never lose his energy. "Well, what brings you to these sled dogs humble barn?" Kiba noticed that the jingling sound came from the collar. "Oh, you must belong to someone." Taking a quick whiff, she added, "A sled team. Hey, Stark, this husky might one day compete with your team." Her tail wagged slightly, she was trying to be friendly, but it seemed sometimes dogs shrank back a little as they noticed her size and scent of wolf.

Wheeling around, he began to sprint through the slowly deepening snow, squinting to see through the thick flurries. "Uh- this way!" He barked, making a sharp left turn. Slowing to a lope, he weaved around the trees, desperately straining to keep his scent trail, though it was fading rapidly in the heavily falling snow.

Kiba rushed out of the barn, hobbling all the while. She peered out, and was smacked in the face by a sudden gust of wind. The powerful wind didn't die out, and Kiba's ears went back. She shut her eyes almost all the way, and all she saw was a white sheet of snow. "H-husky?" She called out, but she felt her voice get thrown back to her. "Husky!" She howled. She stepped into the snow completely. "Hey, husky!" She howled again, hoping the brown husky found his friend and could hear her. She took a few paw steps away from the barn.

Post by: sparticles on September 28, 2013, 10:20:13 am: Yukon got up from his seat to shut the window, grabbing the wooden frame he pulled it down causing a large banging sound the happen. The storms wind seemed to have made the house turn rather cold "Dumb sotrms!" Yukon huffed as he knelt down by the fire and began putting wood on it; then soon lighting it. Letting out a sigh he sat back on the sofa.
Nanuck looked out the window as the large amounts of snow continued to fall and the wind whistled past the window, rolling his eyes for a moment the then turned to Yukon and nudged his hand letting out a whimper. "I know boy, we aint gonna get any trainin' done whilst its like this.." He sighed and Red huffed. He hated the stroms that didn't allow them to train. Turning his attention back to the sled racers on the tv he watched as they continued to race across the snow.

Tikaani peered out the window for a moment and watched as snow blew in, sighing she put her head on her paws and closed her eyes; she continued to shiver. A sudden thud caused her head to jerk up and to her releaf it was Yukon shutting the window and putting the fire on. Smiling a little she looked at the team who were still focused on the tv. Shrugging she turned to see Yukon talking to Nanuck. Turning back to the tv she let out a bark as the huskies bounded across the snow.

Eska trotted out the den as the snow seemed to progress, her gaze shifting to Kallie "Maybe you should get pack to your group, the storms getting worse and your master will be worrying?..." She muttered with a tilt of her head then raising a brow as her grey tail continued to sway to and fro. Her pelt seeming coverd in snow and she had only been out a minute or so, the winds causing a cold pain on her face as she shook her head.

A storm started so most are inside and I assume some are heading back.
What's happened in Yukons team is again, they've been on a practice run and after being in the barn for a good 20 minutes or so Yukon called them in as the blizzard started. They're now sat at home watching the sled raving on the tv; Nanuck (also known as Red) is on the sofa beside Yukon and the others are on the floor))
