Title: Feral Heart Crash Problem
Post by: Coco1 on September 09, 2013, 05:15:52 pm
I don't know if happen to other people. I've checked several threads for crash problems, but mine is difficult and i will be very thankful if someone could help me. So I installed FH on my dad's laptop and it runned well, but then it crashed. Of corse i opened it again, it loaded and all the objects of all maps were gone. And the character selector was black only the charas were normal. I unistalled it and deleted the folder of the C disk and reinstalled it again, but it crashed and the same thing happened. Is it my computer or the game. Im the laptop is running Windows XP.

I'm not really sure what's happening here, but I'd say your computer is freaking out. It could be you have a virus that deletes everything off a certain program or document. Can you please take a screenshot of your FeralHeart folder and post it in the comments? Maybe try downloading a texture and installing it to your main FH folder - sometimes it works.

Ok, i will take a screenshot sometime. The laptop is running COMODO anti-virus wich detects FH as a threat. When starting the game it pops up and says "FeralHeart.exe is trying to install global hook DINPUT8.dll". I click allow. Is the anti-virus the problem?

It could be a problem, maybe just turn it off for a while and try opening FeralHeart. If the problem persists turn the anti-virus back on because it isn't the problem. See if you have any duplicate files or are missing some - the new texture works for this because it gives you the files you need. You know how to control the folder, don't ya?

I'm sorry that it doesn't work though...

I think i found the problem. So each time i install FH and open it for the first time appears this meage: "This application has failed to start because d3dx9_42.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." At the second time i open it works, but crashes and the problem appears again. And when i reinstall appears the same message. Is this a missing file? And if so tell me where to download it.

Ah, alright. I'll help you check through every single one of your folders to find the missing file. Go to your particles, what do you have? The location is FeralHeart >> media >> particles. Or maybe check your ogre file. I'll explain the ogre thing after if everything in your particles folder is up to scratch.

You should have, in no particular order:
aura.material
aura.particle
water.material
water.particle
star.png
splash.png
watersmoke.png

Darn! If I haven't mentioned this before (I have no idea why I didn't) try downloading and re-installing the entire game. If you have any textures or something for the game that you want to save, back them up. If that doesn't fix it; open your FeralHeart folder and go to something like the ogre.cfg file.

What we must change is the top row.

Code: [Select]
Render System=Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem
[Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem]
Allow NVPerfHUD=No
FSAA=0
Floating-point mode=Fastest
Full Screen=No
Rendering Device=Monitor-1-
Resource Creation Policy=Create on all devices
VSync=No
VSync Interval=1
Video Mode=800 x 600 @ 32-bit colour
sRGB Gamma Conversion=No
[OpenGL Rendering Subsystem]
Colour Depth=32
Display Frequency=N/A
FSAA=0
Full Screen=No
RTT Preferred Mode=FBO
VSync=No
VSync Interval=1
Video Mode=800 x 600
sRGB Gamma Conversion=No

Change the ''Direct3D9'' in the first row to ''OpenGL'' and vice versa. You should not change any other text. When your done make sure to save it.

Ok i unistalled and deleted all things. Downloaded the Setup and installed again, but still crashes that way. I tried the ogre thing when i opened the file the top row was already OpenGL. I really don't know what to do, should i just give up on it.
