Title: Fort Genesis - Animal/Sci-fi rp (Open and Accepting!)
Post by: rainbow lion on September 11, 2013, 10:01:54 pm
With many starbases Earth has positioned around the galaxy, some aren't monitored as closely as others would. One of these, Fort Genesis, was solely researching on how Genesis technology could bring a dead life form could be brought back to the living. Many of these are canines, frozen. All of their bodies intact. Some dead clones that didn't survive waking up or wolves shot for the program. Things were going well for Fort Genesis.
The starbase was thriving, a clear contact with Earth, a solar garden providing food, cloning tanks set to create hares and other prey and meat but it all went wrong. A normal average solar storm was predicted to arrive at the planet in a few hours. The computers thought it was fine but their numbers had been fatally wrong. Instead of putting a little fuzz on the communicator, it had knocked out all electricity, and communication with all things near and far. It had become lethally cold to man and canine. Most of the canines found warmer spots to wait out the cold in a  hibernation state. Most of the humans had froze to death except one man. He sought out the generator to reset it so it would get some of the fort to a state which it could support life. The man soon died after. Only a half of the starbase had ever warmed, for this planet used to carry an atmosphere, but it's iron core cooled and no longer held a magnetic shield. The air froze and fell as snow to the ground and no oxygen remained.
Fort Genesis had it's own infinite air supply but with the power gone that air had soon vanished into a vacuum where there was no blue haze. the starbase was built on the side of the planet which never faces the sun every hundred years. It had just started the cycle of night and would be bound to darkness until the next century.

:3 Okay, that was a whole lot of intro explaining everything! Now for some more words. :P

You can be any canine, a clone of an extinct dog or a living wolf caught for the program. As canines you wouldn't know how to clone you own food so you have adapted to living off the solar garden. It uses electricity to generate food due to no sunlight. If you are very desperate for meat you would have to be a little creative.

Fort Genesis is stable in a little part of the building so be careful not to wander out of the safe zone. If you are trapped in the freeze zone you must get quickly to the safe zone for you will soon die of cold and lack of oxygen. There are some windows looking out into the airless night and all you would see out there is frozen air and ice. The safe zone is lit by bright lights lining a maze of halls and rooms.

Here comes da rules.

Name: Genedar
Age: 3 Years
Gender: Male
Breed/Species: Wolf/Belgian SheepDog mix
Appearance: A thin frame with very long black hair and dark eyes. It's almost hidden but there is a bullet shot in his chest and he was brought back to life by Genesis Technology before the incident.
Clone or Normal Animal?: Normal Animal
Crush: None
Mate: Nope
Pups: :|
Personality: A quiet dog that takes great thought in his decisions. His face seems to always frown and his ears pointed slightly back. His tail does not go in between his legs though. He's never had any companions and isn't quick to meet some. Genedar has lost his taste for meat though and will only eat plants grown in the overgrown solar garden.
History: Genedar was raised on the dying planet Earth. Bred for speed and smarts he has a formidable appearance. Once he had grown almost the size of an adult he was shot and his body was frozen and shipped to Fort Genesis. There they revived him and watched his behaviors. When the power was lost Genedar was trapped in the freeze zone and is searching quickly to find a warm place full of air. He remembers no family other than the humans.
Extra: Nothing really except the hole in his chest.

Name: Taylor ( :p )
Age: She's round about 3 and a half years old.
Gender: Female/Fae/-Removed by moderator-
Breed/Species: Wolf/Husky/Collie
Appearance: Picture to show what she looks like.
Clone or Normal Animal?: She's a normal animal.
Crush: Nope, no one yet.
Mate: Nope she hasn't got one, but will be searching.
Pups: Sadly, she doesn't have an pups at the moment.
Personality: Taylor can be a very stubborn girl and tends to not follow rules, she liked sitting back and letting others make some decisions; but will be the bossy one when it comes to doing the job. She is also feisty and very opinionated along with being quite aggressive and having a short temper, but then again she can tolerate certain things. Although she seems like a serious canine and hard to get on with she can be laid back and prance around like a pup. Sometimes adding cocky or sarcastic comment.
History: Well nothing much really, she worked in the labs with some of the humans as Johnny owned her. Not knowing what had really happened until it hit them. Now she lives with the few canines that have survived the harsh change in the climate.
Extra: Nothing extra at the minute.

((Sorry for the crappy start, can't really do first posts.. Oh and one more question, I've read the first post and I am a little confused. Are we in a small room with lab equipment and such, or like a large dome that's like a garden?))

Taylor let out a sigh as she lifted to her paws, the buzzing sound of generators causing a huff to escape her maw. Lifting up she yawned then stretched, soon shaking her pelt causing dust to fly off. Peering around she shrugged as she realised she was the first up, padding towards the large window she peered out into the cold zone and let out a sigh; she loved snow and such but she didn't fancy being froze to death! Sighing she peered out as everything seemed to have turned into ice.

The base has small rooms filled with equipment and a lot of hallways, the garden is in a rectangular room with lights along the side of the ceiling. There are a few empty rooms around but they are hard to find. The main effect was along the newer part of the building so the surviving canines are mostly in the older half. :3))

Genedar's eyes flickered open. The air seemed thinner here and his breath billowed out slowly in a puff of steam. Looking around most of the lights seemed to be off but there was a glimmer in the distance. Moving his frozen limbs looking back at his cage his eyes widened in surprise as a giant piece of metal lay mere inches from where he had fallen asleep. Looking back at the light Genedar started to make his way slowly to it.

((Sorry about the questions but is there also a normal garden or just a frozen one?))

Taylor let out a sigh as she peered into the frozen garden, a sigh escaped her maw as she blew onto the glass causing it to steam up; lifting a paw she rubbed it away. Whipping around she sniffed the air hoping to find food but sadly, she couldn't. Lowering to her stomach the husky x continued peering into the empty garden, the cool air being visable as it blew.

It's normal but it's just a little cold due to the heat loss in the building.))

Genedar's claws clacked against the metal floor in lonely echos as he neared the light. Passing by a carcass, he glanced at the frozen body. Ice had formed on it's nose and eyes. Frost blanketed it's once brown fur. Not wanting to stay with it any longer Genedar continued forward.

Name: Manoah

Age: 1

Gender: Male

Breed/Species: Thylacine (or Tasmanian Tiger. Whatever floats your boat.)

Appearance: Roughly the size of a small German Shepherd. Long rigid tail and longer hind legs than front, allowing him to take a kangaroo-like bipedal stance at times. Narrow head, long muzzle. Able to open jaws wider than any other living mammal. Looks like a canine, but is a marsupial. Sandy gold pelt with numerous strips down backside. (Photos and siggy. X3)

Clone or Normal Animal?: Clone

Crush: Nope

Mate: Nope

Pups: Nope

Personality: Manoah is rather shy and skittish. Overall, he's caring, soft spoken, and immature. Once he feels comfortable around those he's with, he can be very playful.

History: Manoah, his species being previously extinct, was cloned in one of the labs. Once born, he was hand raised by the humans of the lab. Not much has happened in the short year between his birth and the sudden collapse of the starship that rapidly changed the world he knew.

Extra: Wears a leather collar around his neck given to him by the humans.

Taylor pressed her side against the door causing it to open, the cold air instantly hitting her as she let out a huff. Padding into the cold garden her hackles stood up as she peered around "This place seems empty.." She muttered as she began wondering through garden; her claws tapping against the metal floor her tail wagging slightly as she loved the feeling of being back in a cold climate. The air being visable as she breathed causing clouds to form infrtont of her may and out her snout; her ears twitching for any noises.

The young thylacine padded slowly through the chilly domed garden. Days before the system collapses of the starship, the humans had released him into the garden for a short term behavioral experiment. Now it seemed like he was stuck here. He wasn't completely aware of what had gone down outside the garden, but he knew something wasn't right. Manoah's keen sense of smell was overwhelmed by the many scents of the garden, making him wander aimlessly to explore his new environment.

-Is currently Playing Kerbal Space Program. Le rocket explodes- o3o))

Genedar could make out some of the details of the room now. Once he was a few feet from it he slid in slowly, only to find a half-open door. Sniffing he shook his dark pelt and a few particles of frost flew off of his and drifted around. Genedar looked over to his side and a few canines still lay frozen. One's stomach didn't rise and fall like the others. Sniffing it the body smelled of death but it was faint due to the cold. Quickly moving to the other side of the room Genedar peered through the door and saw it was lit with lights.

Manoah let out a subtle sniffle and pushed his upper body up. Using his kangaroo-like tail to keep his center of gravity, the Thylacine stood upright on his well adapted hind legs, head held high to get a quick scan of his environment. With a huff, he let his forepaws come back down to the earth softly as nothing of much interest caught his attention. As he trekked farther into the garden, though, he did notice it grew colder the farther he went. Naturally being adapted to warm climates, he found the chilliness distasteful and quickly began to shiver every once in a while. Finally deciding it would be better for him to escape the cold, he began to dig a hole in the dirt at the base of a shrub, tunneling in until he could fit his whole body in a small underground den. Parting his jaws to their unnatural angle in a yawn, Manoah curled into a tight ball for an attempt at warmth.

Taylor padded through the garden as her ears flicked and the lights shone down. "Wonder if any other canines are here.." She muttered to herself with a sigh. The coldness sent a shiver up her spine as she traveled further inro the garden, sighing she turned back around and decided to begin heading back out. An unfamiliar scent then wafting up the cross breeds snout causing her nose to wrinkle. Lifting her large, rounded like head the fea began sniffing the air and realising the scent wasn't to far away; letting out a low bark it seemed to scent was slightly in the same direction to the door; but still in the garden.

The dark-pelted dog flinched as another voice echoed down the halls of the garden. Quickly gathering his courage Genedar pushed himself into the room. Glancing around he didn't see anything at first but ventured a little farther to discover another dog. Not knowing if it was hostile Genedar let a low rumble escape his throat.

A piercing bark rattled the thylacine from his light sleep. Scrambling to sit up, he flattened his ears and peered outside of his shallow den, not daring to take a step out. Instead of investigating, Mannish slunk back in his den until his striped haunches had made contact with the back wall of his little chamber, a low whine unintentionally escaping his throat.

Another unfamiliar scent wafted into the faes snout and she peered around a sigh escaping her maw as she urged a little more forward, her claws tapping against the metal ground. One scent coming more clear and she peered forward to see a dark figure close to the ground. Tilting her head a low snarl escaped her maw "Hello?" She muttered hoping to get a reply, her stance high as her tail wagged slightly. A cloud of air blowing from her maw as it became clear because of the low temperature to the room.

Genedar's throat rumbled as he barked to the other dog. He didn't trust new faces right away. "Who are you!" he demanded lifting his tail up to snow no fear. The dog didn't seem hostile but Genedar didn't want to take a chance that could end him. Lifting up slowly he waited for the dog's response.

The nearby snarling sent a shiver up the young thylacine's spine and he cowered further back in his den as possible, ears flattened in confused fear. He couldn't choke back the fearful whine that escaped his throat. He'd never met a dog before, but something deep down told him to instinctively be afraid of them.

((I'm so sorry I haven't posted, my phones been acting up so haven't been on since yesterday :( ))

Taylor peered as the canine bounded towards her, tilting her head a little as his booming voice pierced her ears. Grunting slightly as her tail wagged she peered at the unfamiliar canine "Uh I'm Taylor, who're you?" She questioned raising a brow as her front left paw was slightly lifted from the ground; her ears twitching as she awaited a reply from the brute. Small clouds of air blowing from her maw, then fading away into the coldness.

The dark canine slowly lifted up. The dog clearly didn't seem to be hostile for the moment. Genedar's breath slowly came out as he observed the dog. Taking a step forward his ear flicked as a whimper sounded somewhere in the garden. "Well then, you may call me Genedar if you wish," the canine muttered. Genedar still didn't trust the canine known as Taylor. A low hum in the distance whispered through the halls. Slight vibration echoed through the metal floors. Soon dew had began to form on his pelt as the air warmed. "Strange," he whispered to himself as he looked around and then turned back to Taylor.

Manoah gulped and didn't dare shift his tense gaze from the opening of his den, the voices indicating the canines' voices were rather near. He curled his rigid tail around his side and kept his head low, desperately hoping to remain hidden from the most likely dangerous dogs.

Taylor peered at the dark brute and nodded her head as he introduced himself; smiling her tail wagging. "Well nice to meet you Genedar.." She muttered with another smile. Then her ears began to twitch as she heard a quiet hum echoing through the halls, narrowing her eyes a little she peered around for a moment. Her nose twitching as she sniffed the air; but surprisingly nothing. Sighing she turned her head back to peer in her previous direction of looking at the male.

"Yes..." Genedar trailed off. He tried to locate the sound of the whimpering. Finally detecting a scent he followed after it. The trail led him into some dirt spilled over and a tan striped pelt was barely visible. It quivered slightly. Maybe it knew he was here. Lifting a dark paw out to it he poked it and the creature immediately flinched. Genedar tilted his head in confusion as what it was.

Manoah's dark eyes widened as the figure of a canine appeared over his den. He stared in frozen horror as it reached a large paw down towards him. His mind told him to bite it, but he was too frozen in fear to do anything but flinch, part his jaws in a wide warning yawn with a hiss, and scramble even farther back against the dirt wall behind him. The thylacine rapidly glanced around, searching for a possible escape route that he knew he may soon need to take, especially if this beast decided it was hungry.

Pulling his paw back quickly quickly as the striped creature hissed at him., Genedar moved his head a little closer. The canine-like animal was obviously frightened by his appearance. Though when Genedar's muzzle came too close his was met with a frenzy of clawing from the creature. Growling deeply Genedar tried to intimidate it. It obviously seemed hostile at the moment.

Manoah flattened his ears against his bulky cranium, gaping his jaws wide at the stranger before clacking them shut with a subtle whine. "W-What do you want?" The young Thylacine whimpered, a constant hiss weaved in to his voice. His rigid tail whipped around to plaster itself to his striped side in intimidated fear.

Taylor tilted her head as the male trotted off, letting out a sigh as she turned her head to peer at the frozen room; another shiver running down her spine. Running her tongue along her lips the mixed-breed canine lowered herself onto her haunches, Taylors fluffy tail swayed to and fro across the metal ground, her front paw slipping slightly but she quickly drew it back as she waited.

"Uhh..." Genedar replied, not really knowing what he was doing. Then thinking of something he quickly spoke, "I have no idea who or what you are." the dark canine reached his paw forward to see what would happen. This striped dog thing was weird looking to Genedar. "Are you an alien?"

[XD D'aww.]

Manoah quivered a bit, though he slowly began to relax once realizing the canine didn't seem completely aggressive - for now anyway. "I- I-" He stammered, his eyes raking the ground for a minute before gazing back up, making sure to keep his head low. "I'm a Thylacine." Manoah finally yipped, quietly wriggling out of his den to sniff the canine. "Are you a dog?" He murmured, backing up. "I- I've never met one before. I've seen your kind, but they're always pretty mean." He ducked his head, flattening his ears against his bulky head. "You-you're not gonna eat me- right?"

Genedar flicked his ear at the thylacine's question, "Nah, you look too weird to eat." he was still confused by it's question. Moving his paw closer he poked it again. The lights flickered above. Turning his head again he blinked and observed the thylacine, it had a mainly tan pelt with many striped continuing down it's body getting larger as they neared the kangaroo-like tail. It had a thin muzzle and dark eyes.

Manoah flattened his ears, opening his jaws wide in another warning gape, letting out a subtle hiss as the dog prodded his side. "Quit touchin' me like that!" He growled, shrinking back a bit and lashing his rigid tail. "I don't want any trouble, dog." He added with another growl, only this time a less defensive growl with a nervous whine weaved into it. As the lights above flickered briefly, he gazed up at them, taking a couple fearful steps backwards. "Why are the lights doing that? What's going on?" He whimpered, mostly to himself.

Snorting Genedar explained. " Hadn't you noticed the cold? We all I guess just woke for a frozen sleep. The power's been going out and evantually we may lose it entirely and we'll all just turn into lifeless, airless, frozen, lumps of flesh and fur." Genedar even shivered at his own words.

The thylacine's dark eyes widened at the dog's explination. "W-what!?" He yipped, stiffening up. "No, no, no! I don't wanna be an ice cube!" He yipped, lashing his tail in anxiety. He briefly rose up onto his hind legs in the typical thylacine trademark kangaroo-like stance to peek over the dog and at his surroundings. Lowering his front paws back to the ground, he glanced around nervously.

Genedar looked at the thylacine in curiosity. It certainly was a strange animal. "Who knows, we might not have a choice, we're stuck on this darn planet for as long as we live." Sighing, he really didn't know what is going to happen to the surviving souls. Feeling a slight grumble he jumped up onto one of the shelves where the plants grew. Crunching on a frozen tomato he knocked one down to the thylacine.

Manoah let out a whine of fear at their seemingly doomed circumstance. Perking his ears, he watched as the canine swiftly hopped up onto the plant covered shelf. With a yelp of surprise, the Tasmanian Tiger staggered backwards as Genedar swept the tomato down towards him, stumbling over his own paws and flopping over onto his back in the moment. Rolling over onto his belly, Manoah heaved himself to his feet and shook his short but dense coat. Lowering a questioning eyebrow, he stepped towards the tomato on the ground, giving it a sniff and nudging it with his nose. "What am I supposed to do with this?..." He mumbled, straightening up to glance over at the dog in confusion. Since he was able to, he had always been given fresh meat to eat by the humans, so the purpose of this small red object confused him.

The black canine snorted. "It's a tomato, do 'ya see anything else you could eat?" Genedar questioned the Thylacine. As his teeth crunched into the frozen fruit red juice spurted out of it giving his teeth a temporary red stain. Licking his mouth Genedar looked over to see if Manoah had eaten it or not.

Manoah wrinkled his muzzle in disgust at the concept, but lowered his head to give the odd little fruit another sniff. Finally, he took a reluctant bite, jerking his head back in surprise and disgust as the tomato's juices splattered out. "Ew.." He mumbled, thrashing his tail to the side an flattening his ears. "How can you eat this thing." He exclaimed, lightly placing a paw on the tomato.

"Maybe if you look around here if you don't like. Seems there's other things to try." Genedar muttered. The tomato had tasted okay to him but maybe the Thylacine was used to meat. Trotting along the shelf he found another plant. It was long and green and had the same frost as the tomato did. Crunching on it Genedar wrinkled his nose as it's shard taste swarmed over his tongue.

The Tasmanian Tiger let out a subtle sigh, but dipped his head in agreement. Following what the dog had done, Manoah leaped up onto the shelf containing a few other frost-topped vegetables. As he slowly padded along the shelf, he paused near a potted plant containing a few tiny rounded objects on the leafy branches.(Berries). Sniffing the base of the clay pot, he accidentally nudged it off of the shelf, flinching as the pot shattered on the ground below. "Heh heh. Oops." Manoah grinned sheepishly, flicking his tail before turning his attention towards the other berry-budded plant.
