The Last Wolves is a realistic, multi-species, mapped roleplay run by me, DoctorFlob, and co-host BigBangTheory (http://www.feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&action=profile&u=156511)

Summary

Set in the 18th century, in the remote highlands of Scotland, man has relentlessly hunted and killed thousands of wolves. They see them as a threat and a menace. They carry guns and hunting dogs follow them and assist in the hunts. Wolves have a hefty bounty on them which only encourages more humans to hunt the animals. The European wolf of Britain is now dead and gone, except for a single pack somewhere in the mountains and forests.

Wolves
The wolves of Great Britain are European wolves (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurasian_wolf) (Canis lupus lupus). They are at the top of the food chain preying on deer, hares and other small animals. The last wolves are a pack living in the Cairngorm Mountains, south-east of what is now known as Aviemore, desperately trying to survive and prevent the extincton of wolves in Britain. The hierarchy of the pack is standard, consisting of the dominant breeding pair, two beta wolves, subordinate wolves, an omega and the pups.

Dogs
Dogs follow their masters into the Highland wilderness to track the wolves and help to bring them down. They hunt cooperatively in a pack. Irish wolfhounds, Scottish deerhounds and greyhounds are examples of hunting breeds (http://animal.discovery.com/breed-selector/dog-breeds/hound-dogs.html) of dog.

Other Wildlife
All species are linked one way or another. Without one, another cannot survive. The animals understand the delicate balance of nature and are not all too pleased about the hunting of the wolves. With a little motivation and encouragement, some animals may even be willing to help the wolves out. Other wildlife species of Scotland include the European red fox (Vulpes vulpes crucigera), the Scottish wildcat (Felis silvestris grampia), red deer (Cervus elaphus), European golden eagles (Aquila chrysaetos chrysaetos), mountain hares (Lepus timidus), peregrine falcons (Falco peregrinus), and many others.

Rules

1) No powerplaying/godmodding/autohitting
2) Respect your fellow RP members
3) Don't use excessive bad language in the map
4) Keep 'wolfspeak' to a minimum
5) Try to be as active as you can
6) You are allowed up to two characters, but must keep both of them active
7) Post the password 'haggis' in your application to show you've read, understood and agreed to the rules and the roleplay terms.

The roleplay takes place in a beautiful, detailed map made by the wonderful BigBangTheory, depicting the stunning scenery of the Scottish Highlands, as well as the weather.
In the maps we'll use different chats, depending on distance between characters. Local chat will be used for close range RP, General chat for long range RP, Group chat for OOC talking, and Whisper for anything you wish to do privately. Official roleplay days are Fridays and Saturdays, but you're more than welcome to stop by the map any time and roleplay with any other members who might be online. If you're going to be absent on either of those days, or inactive for a while, please let either me or BigBangTheory know.

Personality: Caralyn has a laid back, playful personality. Her strong playful streak comes out most when cracking jokes or playing with her friends. If pushed far enough, Caralyn can become aggressive when she feels that she or her friends and family are threatened. Fighting or hunting was never her strong point given her peaceful nature.
Background info: Caralyn was the runt of the litter in her birth pack. While her littermates excelled at hunting and displayed leadership qualities, Caralyn was only good at acting the fool and showed the qualities of an omega wolf. When she left her pack in search of a mate, she came close to the brink of death, leading her to eventually give up on her quest and go back to her family. However, they were no where to be found, and so Caralyn joined the pack on the Cairngorm mountains...the last wolves of Scotland.

Personality: Bryna is naturally a loner, and has a strong dislike of dogs, foxes, other predators that she competes with, however she may welcome the company of other cats. She's generally quite laid back, but also proud and can be easily offended. Bryna is an intelligent queen and has a vast knowledge of the forest, its flora and fauna.
Background info: Bryna has lived in the highland forests her whole life, and wouldn't have it any other way. As a kitten, she was also curious of her soundings, asking questions and eager to learn new things.
Relatives: A father who Bryna never met, mother who Bryna has not seen in years, siblings who have now gone their separate ways, and a grown up litter of kittens.

Personality: Dagger is very serious and Loyal. He's tied strictly to rules, and will not tolerate anyone else or even himself breaking the rules. His loyalty will make him do anything his higher ranked order him, most likely even listening to not eating, speaking, or even breathing for short periods should they command it. However, he will get suspicious should he get orders he does not trust, and will probably avoid those giving the orders until they've earned back the trust they made him lose. He's kind of socially awkward around others, caused by his seriousness. Though he tries to play with pups to entertain them, he doesn't always understand every aspect of play, and sometimes gets confused. Though socially awkward and extremely loyal, he's not stupid. At hunting parties, he usually tries to make up tactics to catch the prey other than charging in or just plainly trying to surround it. He's fairly nice, and wouldn't hurt anyone unless they pose a treat.

Background info: Dagger grew up in an outcast family, consisting of two wolves, his mother and father. And his two sisters. When that little family was attacked by hunters, his mother was shot at sight. His father helped him and his sisters escape by making a distraction. Eventually leading to his death, aswell. Halfway through running away, he lost sight of his two sisters, ending up alone. Where after days of cold and rain, found a new pack. One which adopted him, and where he lives now.

He grew up admiring the Alphas and betas, always trying to be near them and even copying them. Though at young age, he was very small. This caused him to be afraid of other pups, making him never learn the concept of socialising. Though this thing made him train more and do his best to prove he was strong, and he managed to grow up in a large wolf. However, with some concequences...

Relatives: Keire (Mother, deceased), Mandus (Father, deceased), Shutter (Sister, not seen since puphood), Lay (Sister, not seen since puphood). None other in the pack.

Canis Lupis Italicus {Italian}.

Three years, seven months.

Appearance:
Picture can be seen above. Xanthus takes the appearance of any regular Canis Lupis Italicus. His pelt is stained an intermediate hue of brown, his underfur stained with a light crème colour to contrast with his overall accented colours. Painted upon his fur are crimson markings, originating from blood spatters or plain "war-like" markings.
 
Personality:
Xanthus is rather laid back with a few things, however he can turn quickly over to his aggressive side when he is flared with irritation or affliction. This brute goes under the oath of any pack, following or defending the law whenever it is needed. He isn't one to start a conversation, and will keep away from socialization until further notice. When it comes to forcefully being put out there to talk, Xanthus will go all out and speak his mind so long as no one questions him about what has been spoken. Despite being the anti-social derp he is, he enjoys protecting others and caring for them... however, it is very difficult for him to show that he does care, him being rather hesitant.

Now when it comes to having fun, Xanthus will personally try to soak in what is going on and will eventually loosen up a bit. He is no stick in the mud, and will not allow for anyone to think of him that way. During tight situations, his intelligence comes forth when thinking of solutions to an existing problem, but will keep to himself until the time beckons or when he has been requested for any possibly ideas. Much more can be explained about the lad's personality. T'is much more enjoyable when seeing the other half of him with your very eyes rather than reading it. Perhaps more can be disclosed during roleplay?

Other info:
How Xanthus received his blood spattered pelt design or "war-like" markings remains a slight mystery. However, he has thought of a possibility on how it could have happened. Upon discovering he was raised by adoptive parents, he slowly noticed his abnormally-coloured markings that seemed alien to all who laid their eyes on him. He gained the thought that perhaps his parents were killed beside him, thus the blood spatters... maybe it was part of a sacrificial event? The war-like markings seen on his face, he thought, were painted onto him with his own parent's blood, being cast away from someplace. It brought him relief to think that he was founded by two other wolves whom he calls  his "adoptive" parents. T'is all still a mystery...

Appearance (pictures are optional): A typical tint for European Wolves, reddish brown to cream. Her eyes are hunter green and rather bright.

Personality: Kennis isn't the one to speak up first. Her motto goes by "Watch and learn", and that's exactly what she does. Due to her young age, her fuse is likely to go off without a reason and she throws a hell of a tantrum when it does. Kennis tends to make an elephant out of a mouse; the slightest problem she has can spread like wildfire through the area while she whines about it. However, even if she has her small flaws, it's always a joy to seeing Kennis happy.

Also, .exe, could you tell us how an Italian wolf may end up in Scotland?

HerpDerp; As lovely as your character's personality sounds, I'm afraid that her appearance concerns me a bit. Since this is meant to be a realistic RP, we'd like it if peoples' characters could resemble European wolves as much as possible, using brown colours, brownish grey, orangey brown...those sorts of colours. If you're prepared to change that, then we'll be happy to review your application.

Alright, i guess i'll post here. Here's a lil pup dagger for you guys uvu

Dagger ran, ran away from the loud bang that made his mother drop to the floor. His heart was racing, and so were his legs. He hated his small body right now, as he could not keep up with his sisters. He heard his father howl in the distance. It wasn't a proud one, it was one which spoke defeat. He almost lost himself as he tripped over a tree's root. He fell face first, rolling through the dirtied leaves and grass. He tried to stand up, but he'd already lost sight of his two sisters. He panicked.

He had been in this state before, but it was never as much as this. In these few minutes if running and stress, he'd lost sight of everything he had. He didn't know where he was, he didn't know where his family was. He breathed heavily, looking around for anything or anyone that could help him on the path again...he heard canines. Not the friendly ones, but the monsters the two legged owned. Their smell, their growls, they weren't natural. He hid in the nearest bush he could find.

Then he saw them.

Large feet crushed the leaves a few metres away from him. The wolf lookalikes sniffed the ground as they stepped. He hid back further into the bush, not caring about the thorns prickling in his side, and waited, eyes wide and mouth hanging open. He noticed them walk away, and it took him a while to breathe. And he was safe.

And all was happy and joyful, until he realized..

He had nothing left to go back for, there was no use being alive unless his family was there. He hid his face between his paws and curled up. Shakin from the cold and wet that had graced him. Waiting for anything, anyone..to take him home.

@DoctorFlob; I've done a bit of research before joining about the various types of wolves that reside or dwell within Scotland, and the Italicus are one of them. However, there is a smaller number of them found rather than any other wolf species. Based off a few resources, it has been concluded that the Italicus {not quite originating from Italy, but rather close} has been introduced to Scotland as well as other places within Europe. If ye' want me to change his type, though, then I'll be happy to do so.

As for the roleplay sample:
Heavily the sky hung low from its stitches, wilted clouds touching the last fall of the autumn leaves. Standing amidst the presence of dawn, Xanthus firmly took hold of the scenery with its lingering aroma far beyond the borders of the land. Rigid was the chilling breeze, he noticed, and he lowered his masculine body upon the dew-speckled grass to no delay. T'was his thick supply of a winter coat that compelled the cold, keeping the winds from fingering him more so.

"T'is about time the chilling face of this world has shown itself," Xanthus uttered with a stolid expression, a hazy fog escaping his maw with every word he exhaled. His impatient disposition was easily seen within his amber-hued eyes as they were flicked to and fro from the falling golden leaves to the thick fog engulfing his surroundings. The brute curled up now, nose touching the tip of his bi-coloured tail, to ease this wasted feeling. The stillness of the forest was a sweet lullaby to him, as the vast world of imaginations and mere curiousity lifted to his vision and mind.

I changed her species to a pure European wolf. Her pelt is a bit dim because of the lighting, but it's reddish/brown. I'll change her application. I'll be a subordinate with Cara. c:

I don't know about the rest of you but I think the map's weather cycle may be causing us a bit of grief. If the game just seems to randomly crash while you're in the map, that could be the problem. Deleting the map's .fhw file from the exports folder should fix it, however, there will be no weather xD
I'll give BigBangTheory a nudge about this later.

There, he became the leader and got into the soldiers minds. He was a fierce entity to reckon with. Eventually, the pack got into war between rogues. Adalric slaughtered the leader of the rogues, and left the Krintleb for an unknown reason soon after the war ended.

Personality: Rather outgoing, agile, he tends to look on the bright side of things. Although he almost never backs down from a fight, and he can get rather violent. That's mostly because he would love to die, would love to just give up. Finn tends to hide his true self under his smile, and put up barriers between him and other wolves. He doesn't necessarily like to get involved with others, but because of his mostly fake exterior he appears kind-hearted.
Background info: He was born in a small pack, and had only an older brother. Being aggressive and hungry for power, and tired of being the omega, broken and beaten, his brother snapped and became homicidal. Finnian watched his brother ravage the pack, ripping apart everyone. Only a six months old pup, Finn was helpless to do anything, and crouched in fear as his brother turned on him - and got a bullet in his side. Finn cowered in the bushes, and watched the hunters take his brother away. Unable to fend for himself, Finnian almost died, but managed to make it to a new pack, who took him in and kept him alive. Finn's been with that pack for the rest of his miserable life; The Last Wolves. Every few nights he has nightmares, imagining his brother tearing out the throats of his packmates, and his brother's spiteful howl as the hunters drove off with him.
Relatives: Older brother - Finnian's not sure still if he somehow managed to escape the hunters or if he was killed.
