Title: Inactive groups.
Post by: WhiskerWatcher on October 30, 2013, 04:16:08 pm
I've had enough with some of the groups on Feral-Heart. I see so many advertisements at saying how they're active. When they're not, I join them. We roleplay and it's great. Until everyone has to leave, or more of a chain reaction, when one person leaves another one leaves and so on and so on. I mean, I've heard of groups which has lasted over a year. True it could be about timezones, but I've been online even at the same time everyone else was online the previous day. It just irritates me, too many groups are being made for one day of roleplaying. It's just stacking up pointless groups which are just going to be sat rotting.

I despise false advertisers. 'We're active!" Ahaha. No. You're not. You started a month ago and haven't rped ONCE because of your inactiveness

"We're active, new, and-" Stop. STOP. STOP STOP STOP STOP. New roleplays aren't active either! I don't care how active the leader is, the ROLEPLAY isn't active. You join, expecting an active rp, and are met by a leader who just ditches it a few days later because 'rpn is two hard' or something else like that. Admittedly I've left an rp I've started a few days into it for reasons, but I DO NOT false advertise.

I agree with you, it's bad enough that they're inactive, but little or none groups which actually are.

In my opinion, I think it odd ot declare your group is active or longterm. All groups have their spans. Whether the group is active or not all depends on the member's commitment to get online frequently and keep it going for however long. Just declaring your group is active doesn't really make much sense. You can't predict a future factor, so its better to see how members take to the group first, then you can claim being active after a standard period of time. Similiar to Longjump, I've hosted a few groups, but didn't predict it's activity.

Don't give false promises, those who advertise. It's better to just say what you are about and then see how the idea flows later on. That way, people in your group are having fun, time, and no one has to say, "I thought (insert complaint here)!"

I am active, though lately my little sister has been on the only working computer with FH properly installed on it, and I have been sick, and I didn't want to bother her so, Yeah, you may want to know why they are inactive, due to boredom or just plain not caring before you really just go ranting-ish.
(sorry NomadClan! just got back to my Fh computer, I will get on!)

I think the main thing about inactivity is that it seems the leader HAS to be present. Now, I don't care how you label your group, but if members think the leader always needs to be there for roleplaying is rather... Unproductive. Unless its a major event that requires the leader than yes. If you have a map, you know what's going on, you should get in game and roleplay without the leader, show you're devoted. I always try to set a designated time to when we roleplay yet barely anyone comes and its disheartening, especially if you put work into your roleplay.

Or! What's worse is someone is online, stays for a couple of minutes and says 'oh no one's coming' and just logs off. There needs to be a better way to get everyone online because that's the main problem. If you're not going to take the time out of your day to join a roleplay and rp for an hour or so at a specific time than don't join. It's no point. You're going to not only waste your own time but other's as well and make it less enjoyable.

Whatever the problem truly is, inactivity is a somewhat big problem. There's no point in making groups then if no one bothers to be active.

Yes I agree. If people decide to make a group then the should keep to the rules and be on everyday. And yeah.. maybe you cannot always agree on the timezone, which also affects the group.

I have a lot of characters which are signed to a group but no one ever bothers to come on.

I would suggest that if people plan to make longer lasting groups they should take it to the forums and then agree to meet up in Feral heart on certain days at a certain time. Not only is it better agreement but also it works out much better and groups last longer and are more active.

I don't know what you mean by 'ranting'. I'm just voicing my opinion, and also stating some obvious facts.

I'm one of those people who will sit in a map for four or more hours waiting for ppl while I clean or do chores or schoolwork. I notice that this majorly helps the rp because when someone comes online I can yell 'HEY COME RP WITH ME" and then the person tends to stay longer, but I HATE when the leader comes on after I've been waiting forever, and when I ask if we can rp or advertise or do something productive they say; No, not enough people on. I'll come back in a bit and see if anyone else has logged on' ANd then they leave. No. Stop

It is true that many groups are inactive. And Whisker Watcher was only sharing her opinion and letting others in on what she thinks. I think it's great to know what others think about things like this one and so having a go at her for stating obvious things is out of order.

Hopefully drama won't take place in Game discussions and opinions.

And Longjump,
That is so true, it happens to me quite a lot, at least well... it happened. After some time I got bored of socializing with wolves and lions (creatures xD) on Fh and focused on more important stuff such as my floofy forum xD and of course posting on this corner of my little world <3

I was in a roleplay where the group staff had family nights and game nights where we oocly and icly played truth or dare, hide and seek, tag etc. It was so much fun and it kept people wanting to get on, sadly that rp died. Though the family and game nights were a good idea.

Sounds like fun, and a good idea! We should try and introduce that into Feral-heart again.

Yes, seems like a terrific idea. But what could have kept it alive was an odd role-play on the forums... That wouldn't have killed the fun and everyone would stay updated on what was happening. xD

Yeah, I agree. It will be fun to get involved to, I have never heard much about this. So maybe if it was publicized, it wouldn't 'die' so quickly. Or others will be made.

Yes the idea would be passed on from group to group and it would make a lot more groups active due to this. Also more people would join if it was 'advertised' correctly.
