A year after overpopulation struck the city, policies and regulations on canine control were driven with an iron fist. Dogs of all kinds and backgrounds- both Stray, Junkyard and house-pets were being caught by the Pound left and right. The packs were falling apart and there was only one option: someone had to go. The Junkyard dogs drove out the Strays, solving their problem. But what about the mutts? They now had no place to go. Thus they followed the river south for days, weeks, months. This hardened their souls and chilled their hearts. Finally they came upon a quaint fishing town that was run off of water and wind power. Electricity was vague and it was like a step back into the nineteenth century. Everyone knew everyone. It was peaceful here, there was a place for them, for everyone without those damned Junkyard purebreds there to boss them around. It seemed nothing could go wrong- until the Event. Within minutes and maybe even seconds, the world as we knew it had been seared away in a blink of an eye. The sun ceased to shine throw clouds of toxic waste, the dust-storms constantly ravaged the countrysides. The radiation from the meteorite that had caused the Event rushed out in waves and sent out mutation and plague. It went viral. Humans that had survived the natural disasters were wiped out by the virus. Canines and felines were doing okay- until it mutated. The Strays were torn apart and now lurk alone. You never know if an infected animal hides in the shadows were the dim sunlight doesn't reach...
