I'm sure some people here have heard of everyone's favorite purple dragon, Spyro. The original Spyro the Dragon was great, then came the The Legend of Spyro series. And now.. Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. ...I, for one, am very disappointed with this "Skylanders" thing... It looks.. awful so far. And I head that the starting pack with 3 figues is $90.. Psh, forget it. Anyone else heard of Spyro in general? I wanna see how many other people besides me have. xD And if you have, which is better to you?: The original series, or TLoS?
I like them both, but this Skylanders thing.. I'm not going for it. >w>

The series got progressively worse after the initial first series of games. T_T And Spyro kept getting uglier and uglier...and now he looks like a frog.

I have played some spyro in my lifetime, and loved it. At the moment I have the one where you are chained to... whatsherface, and you can fly freely (Simply because y9ou can fly whenever you want XD)

DotD, in my opinion, was great. I loved the free flying idea, and this Skylanders thing is all "WHAT HAVE THEY DONE?" He looks like something out of a horror movie, and the character figures don't resemble the games at all, the original series or TLoS. And I also read that the Skylanders game is targeting ages 6-12.. PSH. I'm done. They ruined Spyro. D:

I agree. I mean, Spyro 1 and 2 was a awesome start to the now world famous game. And Then Legend of Spyro made it to it's peak, Especially with Cynder and the other element breaths.
Now they have plummeted it to the ground , to the underworld. I mean, The only one who looks great is CYNDER, They suppose to make Spyro look great and normal as well.

......What in the world!? I never knew a skylander thing came out, so I went to check it out and now I'm like horrified! What have they done? I loved TLoS series, especially the one where you get to fly freely. The story line was great and that one was my favorite. To be honest I didn't play much of the first series. But Skylanders? What were they thinking? x_x Apparently they weren't when making the series.

Ikr Steak? 32 Characters. 32. IT'S RIDICULOUS. They don't resemble anything having to do with Spyro, I liked it better when Insomnia was making Spyro games, they were actually good with game-making.
And now this Skylanders thing? They ruined it. I'm gonna laugh when no real Spyro fans buy this game.

I dunno. I was actually very disappointed in Black and White. The Pokemon failed, and I dunno, I just hated that game.

Yeah, I liked the other Spyro games way more, graphics were better, characters were better, now its like they took Spryo and placed him in a completely different world where he doesn't belong, and had him go under a strange transformation. It would of been better if they just made this Spryo like his brother instead or something, who's in a completely different world or something for some reason. Or at least make it like a billion years later. That way at least the game would make some sense, like why everything looks different and there are these completely knew characters, and also why Spryo looks different because its not really him but a new purple dragon. It still wouldn't be as good, but at least there's some sense in it and its not ruining the good name of Spryo, because again the purple dragon won't really be Spryo but someone completely different, like the new legacy (a failed one)

Skylanders is pathetic as far as I'm concerned. He doesnt even look like a dragon, as Steak said he looks like a toad. I've been playing Spyro since it first came out, now they come along with this and ruin the whole thing :/
I don't see how people like it, I mean theres a saying dont judge a book by its cover, but I'm gonna have to throw that saying in the bin for this game. Such a pity Activision or whoever makes the games isn't catering for the older Spyro fans, the ones who were there from the beginning

oh i love spyrp!
but the ledgend of spyro series really takes away from the origonal ideas of spyro. but the games are fun to play and its intresting to see spyro in a different setting. i never heard of the other new spyro game you were talking about. i'll look it up sometime.

ok i just looked up the spyro sky landers thing and i almost barfed at how they made spyro look(not literaly)
its awful! why dont they just make the game end with spyro dyeing! im sure hed rather be dead than look like that.
all i needed was to see the picture of spyro and i hate the game.

I was lucky enough to let my (loyal) older brother keep Spyro: Year of the Dragon for PS1 to play on his PS2. Spyro: Year of the Dragonfly was horrid (it had a good run, for a while after 5 hours of playing), recently bought Dawn of the Dragon for the Wii (interactive) and now....
-They COMPLETELY screwed it up. Forget Crash coming back, Spyro isn't either. And so is Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. And Rayman (I'm starting to hate those god-forsaken Rabbids).
Crud, THEY ARE RUINING MY CHILDHOOD!
*Update: Oh wait, Rayman IS comming back. Rayman Origins or some other...It looks great so far. (Too lazy to bring out the trailer link....XD)

Spyro looks like some kind of deformed...chibi...dragon/toad thing. They killed the original looks. I remembered when he looked fierce and determined. Now, he looks.....weird.
Speaking of which, also, if another Crash Bandicoot game comes out, I hope they don't make it worse like they did with Spyro...>.<

I literally cried watching the video on the Skylanders site. Activision couldn't even leave the DOTD's decent design alone! Activision took the Spyro we all knew and loved and they are just digging his grave in deeper! The original Spyro games were the best amd TLOS wasn't at a that good but it was acceptable in my opinion. I don't get why Activision should take a legendary childhood video game series and kill it. Insomniac really needs to get back to the "real" Spyro before the series gets anymore worse.

I still have a PS1 that is functional, tons of memory cards, and the good old Spyro games.
I'm satisfied with what I have. So long as the games/system don't die. I'm good 8|

I think Spyro looked best in his Dawn of the Dragon phase. It was so awesome, and having Cynder in that game was a great addition.

I agree that Dawn of the Dragon was Spyro's best look. And the addition of Cynder was a brilliant idea, and I love all the moves she has. My sister got the game and we always played two player on it, and I would be Cynder every time x3
Also, Skylander Spyro doesn't look like a toad...

Lmfao. My brother and I would always play DotD co-op, I'm 100 times better with Spyro than Cynder, and I have 999 melee combos for both. xD Plus, my brother and I thought of some really epic and useful element combo attacks since I have both fully upgraded with all armor combos too.
Back on topic, yeah, they got rid of Sparx. They obviously don't know what they're doing.

xD Me and my sister came up with our own epic and useful element combo attacks as well! We even gave them their own names and we would use them all the time, which makes things really awesome! x3
We also have all the armor and such, the game is completed 100% so we have everything set xD I haven't really tried Spyro much, I love being Cynder more and my sister likes being Spyro more so everbody wins heh heh.
Back to topic once more, in a way its probably good Sparx isn't in the game. At least his image is safe from harm V.V

I heard that TLoS ended with DotD, and that they were gonna make a new series. So I have a feeling this is a totally new one... with 31 other characters that have no relation to Spyro whatsoever. >w>

i decided to read the review of skylanders and they actual amit that the only thing the same about the spyro saga is that theres a purple dragon. lately ive been playing my old soyro games and i got re addicted to him and all his awsome purpleness. my favorite game thow is spyro dawn of the dragon. mostly because its awsome graphics fighting/flying abilities and the different elements abilities. plus i love useing cynder and spyro to goof off and role play makeing up my own storyline. or playing to player co-op with my brothers and my friends when they visit, witch i believe is a never before done feature. so personaly that was the best spyro game even thow they changed and removed alot of stuff from the old and origonal spyro games, including spyros back story. and does anyone know how old spyros suposed to be??? he was seven at the begging of the game spyro: the new begginging. and by his age i mean himself as a charater not the game saga itself.

They gave him more of a teenage look.. so I'd say in The Eternal Night he was 8, so in DotD that would make him 11. (It says in the game that he was frozen inside the crystal for 3 years)
(Yes, seriously. My friend interviewed the makers of the game and they said Spyro is only 11 in DotD.)

I can't get over the idea that spyro was allowed to undergo that change. . . wow. . .wow.. . sorry for the strong rant guys but I grew up playing spyro *cries* and even if this isn't part of any spyro series. .this is just. ..spyro belongs in spyroworld- not there! I told my sister about Skylanders and showed her the pics, and she is a major Spyro fan, having also growing up with it.
She was devastated and completely agrees with Spyro being ruined xD
When I first tried explaining to her about there being a new Spyro game, at first she was excited until I showed her the pictures XD

Darnit, that isn't Spryo, it looks nothing like him! Unless there was a paradox where his father was replaced by a rat, there is no way that can be the purple dragon we all know so well!
Also, what are they thinking, trying to make us go toys to enhance game play a little bit for each one we buy?! Cheap much? And there is no way I'm going to sacrifice my dignity by going to the toys section and buying a little strange figure so that everyone can give me a weird look! >:(

I've been playing Spyro since I was 7. I started off with Spyro The Dragon, then YOTD, GTG. I was so excited about the Legend of Spyro series. It's my favourite actually. I wish they could make a sequel to Dawn of the Dragon, with Cynder, Sparx, Hunter and the others (R.I.P. Ignitus ;( ) I'm particually mad at Skylanders, it's nothing like Spyro. I didn't expect Activision to do this. Spyro was the thing that I was most connected in my childhood. He made me grow up, so I'm pretty attached to the game. I even got a PS2 just for the LOS series. But I guess we've just seen the last of Spyro. I pray he would reach his peak again. Now my fav game is Okami, another wonderful game, that I hope it won't get ruined the same way. ;(

I love Spyro. In fact, I have a giant plushie next to my bed. SHOOT THE FANGIRL. SHOOT HER.
I played Spyro since I could hold a remote X3 And I still love Spyro.
The old games, the first series aren't my favorites though. There's no good plot... storyline.. thing..
My favorite would have to be The Legend of Spyro. It had good graphics, a decent storyline (Though they should have kept to the original game plot more.) and a great villain who wasn't a total idiot.
All three were super easy though-- (You know it's easy if I can beat it.) That's the only thing I don't like about it.
Skylanders. What have you done. To my little purple dragon. Who ever thought up the character designs.... was a cave man. WHERES SPARKS?! Where are Sparks and Cynder and Ember and Flame?! DD:
....ahem. That doesn't mean I wont buy the game. Because I'm going to buy that consul just to play that game.

Spyro is like...AWESOME in A New Beginning, Eternal Night and somewhat okay in Dawn of a Dragon, jut a little too...I dunno what word I'm looking for but he doesn't look at good as in Dawn of The Dragon. And about Cynder, she is awesome-looking in A new Beginning + Eternal Night but she is PURPLE in Dawn of The Dragon. D= They ruined her! Cynder wuz mai favorite....And still is, even if she is my least favorite color. <3
And Skylanders, OMG! I looked it up on sites and holy....that is horrible.

I'm totally for all three of the original games, Spyro the Dragon, Riptos Rage, and Year of the Dragon (my personal fav.). Year of the Dragonfly pretty much sucked.
I only like the third Legend of Spyro game.. because I get to fly.. as Cynder.. with my favorite breath power, FEEEEAR.
But the Skylander one? No. No, no, nono.. I SHALL BURN EET! -gets out pitchfork-

I don't like Spyro design at all in Skylanders, but I have to admit the game looks pretty fun.
I've also never liked Spyros design in A new Beginning and Eternal Night, the face looks too distorted ^^'

I actually play Skylanders: Spyro's Adventures. I personally don't like the new Spyro, but since I play him often... (I used not to play it: Disliked the design. But then I realized he is stronger than others... Guess I'm stuck with it.) I'm used to it now.

No matter what the subject is in life, there are always going to be critics that complain. I'm complaining. I miss Moneybags and the fuzzy snow leopard cub, and actual good, basic "world wide acknowledged" dragon anatomy. Skylander Spyro - compared to a western dragon that he used to be, sort of - looks like a gremlin. I don't want to be a purple gremlin. This is my view, opinion, and influenced by my preferences.
They really could have done a ton of different things with Spyro instead of doing this. Mix up a bunch of mythology and pit the actual PS1 Spyro or DotD Spyro against an evil, emperor gryphon creature, but this? It's more of an insult to the character in my eyes.

I have been Spyro fan ever since the first time i played Spyro the dragon when i was kid and i actually like Skylanders, i own it for Xbox 360. But i have to admit that first time when i heard about that game and saw what Spyro looked like i swore i will never get that game because it must be really fail xD. I'm glad i got it, it's not that bad. Spyro does look weird but you don't need to play as him if you don't want to.
Idea about the figures as characters is interesting although some of them look really stupid(and that is why i will only get the ones i like). And the price for starter pack(the game, portal and three figures) is not that bad in Finland since here it costs about as much as any other new game. I do wish figures were cheaper, they are about 10 euros per one.
But yeah, i like Skylanders, some of the levels remind me of the old spyro levels(some of the levels fail though, especially the one where you are on plaftform that moves and it has spikes that attack you if you go close, the collision detection fails at those parts and sometimes moves your chars), the bosses are fun, i wish there was more minigames though, and that the hub world was larger with more places to explore.
What comes to Spyro games generally, i have played the first three(i own 2 and 3, used to own 1 too but it has vanished O.o). Enter the dragonfly(used to own it, sold it), Hero's tail(own it). First Legend of Spyro game(own it, don't like it much), Second legend of spyro game(don't like it much) and the last Legend of spyro game where you can play as Cynder too and they are tied together(own it, only legend of spyro game i like).
First three games are best ofc <3
