Title: What Would You Do if the Doorbell Rang at 12-4 A.M.?
Post by: Sandfury on March 09, 2014, 11:59:07 am
I'm currently typing on my iPad so my auto correct might mess up some words.

Anyways, what would you do if someone rang the doorbell in the dead of night?
The reason why I'm typing this is because on New Year's Day I was on the computer, staying up late. My music was low and I heard the doorbell go "Ding-Dong!" and it startled me. My mom had woken up when it did, and she was confused.

So today (it's 5am right now) I was a bit sick, and I fell asleep early. I was woken up by another "Ding-Dong!" at our door. This time my mom was really mad. She was going around the house looking out windows, and she went outside and came back in. And she whisper-yelled at my dog? What? XD Sorry, when she did that it cracked me up.

So, what would you floofs do if that happened? (Also sorry if this isn't what you post on the off-topic discussion board.)

Ooh quite strange isn't it? Someone knocking on the door at 12am 0.o
If I was awake and the door rang at 12am I would first probably run around like a crazy person looking out the window probably talking to myself and dare turn any lights on incase it was someone scary... Then I would probably get my dogs and go downstairs looking through the spy hole. If it was someone I recognised I'd open the door but if it was someone I did I would probably run upstairs like a cheetah then scream for my mom or dad to open the door.

Or I could just be a fool and tease the person at the door. Weather that be questioning them behind the door then not opening it, turning on the lights and the tv and still not answer it or hand out the bathroom window and throw something at them.

But yeah that's what I would probably do, or be ignorant and leave the door unless one of my parents or my older sister opened the door.

Creepy. xD Once my Dad had been at his friends house and he told me to leave the back-door un-locked. (This was at like 4/5 in the morning.) But...I forgot and locked it, and then went to bed. I woke up because I heard banging on the back door. I thought it was a burglar so I picked up a rather large kitchen knife..c: Then I was about to open the door and attack, but then I remembered and quickly put the knife back before I got screamed at. XD

Woah.

I'd sick my boxer dog on them. >:3
Lol. Jk. 'Cause he's the biggest sissy on the face of the planet.

Honestly, I'd probably crawl to the window all stealthy-like and peek out, heavy object in hand, of course.
Then I'd probably flee upstairs, whether there was someone there or not, and dive into bed. That's some creepy junk, man. XD

Since I don't have to worry about that anymore since one of my brothers are gone already, moved out, and they used to knock on the door in the middle of the night... I'd probably just stay there in bed anyway, waiting for one of my parents to open the damn door. ;u; Irritates me? Yeah. But, I still feel too young to even approach the door after midnight, it feels like. xD

Though sometimes I might just go ahead and check to see who it is if I'm already up and downstairs. /Shrug. But do I freak? Yep, a little bit inside at least.

I would peek out the peephole to see who it is. If it's somebody I don't know, I wouldn't answer it.

Hahahah some of these responses...

Seriously though I live in New York City and opening the door to anyone can be a risk, yet alone at 2am or what not. My solutions are if it isn't someone I know and trust like mom, dad, my finacee, or other family that door will NEVER open. I don't care if the person is asking for some help etc because now of days you can't trust any stranger that comes knocking on your door.

Sometimes evil people send nice looking posers to knock on your door with some kind of fake excuse like my car broke down etc I need help and the moment you open up in they rush and you could end up getting robbed or worse lose your life. Some people even pose as a cable man etc... I've heard a lot of horrible stories of people who opened doors to strangers....

Moral of the story is if you don't know the person and trust the person DO NOT ANSWER THAT DOOR!

Considering the fact that I have four 110 pound dogs in my house, as well as around seven types of guns, the door would be answered. :3

... I would hope I wouldn't have to hear it... my dog is right outside and goes INSANE when someone walks by our house. So I would be pretty worried as to what could have happened to my dog. How would this person get past him? Did they kill him... I would be scared out of my mind. So obviously I would climb out the second story window and fly across the fence into the neighbors yard. And when I say fly, I mean fly. Ain't no going back now. Heh, I live by an officer who is home all night so hopefully I'll be safe. (And hopefully I don't get shot. Honestly, I'm not on good terms with this man for feeding his Aunt's cat.)

Some of these responses are pretty much what I would have been like. xD

I stay in University accommodation with about 8 other people in one flat, so to be honest I'd be totally unsurprised if people came knocking at that time. Had it happen before, haha.

Last time, I was awake anyway so it wasn't too bad. Answered the door in shorts and a tshirt and had to explain why I was going to bed to a very intoxicated flatmate.

It was hilarious in hindsight, but not so much at the time. :P

I'd probably lie in my bed for awhile. If it started to continue, I'd get my mother and tell her that there is a burglar knocking at our door.

Cry, then listen to my mother open the door and pray to God that they won't be a robber or a kidnapper.

If the doorbell would randomly ring I would look around confused.
I would call my dog for protection ^.^
I would look out all the windows and panic.
After some time, I would ignore the doorbell and go to sleep.
If the doorbell rang again I would run downstairs and grab a fork.
Open the door and yell at the person to stay away.

Well.. That's an odd time to knock/ring someone's doorbell.
People usually have more common sense than that, but I guess there could be a good explanation behind the visit.

To be honest. Personally. I don't think I'd even notice. I'd continue sleeping as I'm a heavy sleeper.
Though, my father would probably shout at the person as it's a silly time to bother someone.
While my mother would either lecture them kindly, or with a harsh tone.
You never know how they would react in certain situations though.
Of course, my father's dog would bark and growl a lot, as he's a guard dog. (Dogo/Presa Canario)

Considering I live in the middle of nowhere, that would be spooky. I wouldn't answer the door at all.
