Title: Emotion-based Character Selection?
Post by: Jackkdaw on March 11, 2014, 09:13:12 pm
I was wondering this to myself earlier today as I was vacuuming- 'cause that's apparently when I always ponder life's mysteries-...

When you guys choose the character you are going to use in-game, do you base the choice on how you are feeling- corresponding it with that character's personality?

For me at least, whenever I'm feeling angry I get on Creon- my dire wolf charrie who's a big butt-head.
When I'm feeling happy or laid back I pick Jackdaw- 'Cause he's pretty chill.
When I'm feeling silly or obnoxious I get on Gringo or Kelso- who both have like personalities in that they are the most obnoxious creatures in FeralHeart existence. XD
Or when I feel quiet I pick Manoah- because he is naturally quiet and shy.

Get what I mean? X3

So, how 'bout y'all?

Do your emotions sometimes decide which character you will use?

I don't think I've ever created a character based on how I'm feeling, partially because I don't create that many characters to begin with but yeah. xD I do get what you mean though. Now whether it's going on different characters based on my emotions then still sort of the same really, 'dun really have that many characters and/or characters that really express my emotions 'n such. c:

That's quite interesting to hear of someone going on different characters based on emotions, 'dun think I've ever heard of someone doing that and quite clever really if you think about it.. :o

Sometimes yes.
If I'm ever in a good mood to play a witty, lively character, I will choose Alizarin, or Kopper.
If I'm ever in a lazy kind of mood, I will get on Kojak, Melina, or Vixyne.
If I'm feeling like playing an old or wise character, I choose Abigail, Melina, or Kojak.
If I'm ever in a bad mood... I don't log on at all.

When I feel sort of 'Wild', And need to vent out an emotion, mostly frustration and annoyance, I go on my Bob-Cat: Beeju

Sad: Alone or Sorrow

That is about it.

Hmm, I'm going to have to say no on this one. I rarely base my characters on how I'm feeling (but they way I'm roleplaying sometimes is affected by it?).

However,
My character Ellie is based off a strong obsession from a character from the Naughty Dog video game, The Last of Us. You can see by my.. everything in signatures, personal text, avatar...

I guess I'll say maybe? But, good topic. Got me thinkin' a bit.

(On my phone so I'm too lazy to add color o3o)

JIMMY I TOTALLY FEEL YA BRAH~

Whenever I feel neutral, derpy, social, etc I always jump on Vask.
I usually don't get on FH when I'm angry. BUT-I do tend to get on when I'm frustrated. Usually I go on Slice(dat name originality), or Allistar.
When I feel like a smart arse I tend get on Damien.
When I'm feeling kinda sad or down I tend to get on  my fox Sinopa.
Additionally, when I feel like I want to be wise/creepy I get on my bobcat Bayard.

Actually, yes, sometimes, but it's not always 100% accurate.

In fact, I think that most of my characters originally are based of an emotion I'm feeling when I make them, but sometimes the basis for their creation fades away in time.

For example, Linger (my winged lion), was originally made after a time I'd felt the most loved and almost blessed by a very dear (ex)friend of mine. While the relationship itself may have met a different fate, I would still get onto Linger at times when I felt humbled or shy. However, he eventually became a character that I grew much more comfortable on, and so he was often my usual character that I played.

Nowadays, I'm almost always on Allegra, who is my main fursona. I can't say I need a particular mood to be on her (seeing that I'm on her all the time), but that's because Allegra herself is rather versatile in any situation.

My newest/favorite warrior cat OCs, Lightmare, was made on a rather dark day for me, and there are times when I'm feeling worn down (but still driven by duty to be here for FH) that I'll be on her, since she's a bit of a release from that, simply due to her worn, yet rock-solid personality. However, there are days when I just feel like RPing as her, as well.

Yes and no, but I have indeed done this before.

Honestly....I have to agree BIG TIME.I'm not one of those people who feels one emotion at a time..

Its more like a clump of emotion crowding together in one space. So of course I've made characters

to match my personality!

If im feeling crazy and angry at the same time I get on mah Insane Character Beybin

If Im feeling happy and wacky I would get on my character Mercury

And If i was kind of feeling down in the dumps I would get on Jupiter

If I was feeling sad and lonely I would get on Yuro

If I was my average normal self I would get on Neko

Nuff' said.

I can relate to this because I too alternate between characters depending how I'm feeling.

Most of the time I use adult Lord Suragaha because he is my main character but often when I'm in a good mood, very serious, or just feeling causal I will use him. Sometimes on days when I'm a bit annoyed about something on my mind or just want to spend more time alone in game I'll use Morbid Decadence or his variation Grotesque. On days when I'm really energetic, playful, and mischievous I play as young Lord Suragaha or my character Kaz since both have a very silly personality and are light hearted.

Yes well kinda...In the future once i sort out account problems i will use moon most of the time because well thats my avatar. When i am sad i will use Borai the moon wolf, when i am happy i will most often just pick Morse which is a celtic lion. When i feel random, i will mostly go pick RainbowzSplatter who is a rainbow cat which i make tottally crazy, insane, and random.

Honestly, my chars aren't made so much on emotion as the current issues I feel strongly about. Names, for sure, are not emotion-based.

But at one point, I was very angry about the discrimination against 'obese' people, or people who are not stick-thin. So I made a thickset character, a pit bull, who was still (in my opinion) quite feminine.

Another time someone had just slurred on different sexuality types, exhibiting horrific homophobia, so I mad a char that was bisexual, and actually found one of my favourite characters ever through this.

So, emotion based... not so much. More like what I think is important. c:

Mine are very emotion based.
Kelur- When I'm feeling sad/down. The character is depressed.
Mocha- When I'm being neutral/happy/derpy. She's generally a reflection of me.
Passion- When I'm feeling very stressed/nervous/passionate(like crushes c: ). She literally is a bank for unwanted emotions
