as my sister is a french student (i take spanish) and teaches me french sometimes, i want to know why people use the french word 'le' all the time. i guess it makes them sound cool, funny, or smart, but sometimes it's annoying when they don't use it the right way! 'le' in french means 'the.' so, most people usually say '-le types-' or 'le spotted's awesomeness'. so, basically what they mean is '-the types-' or 'the spotted's awesomeness,' and it's clearly wrong. so.. do they even know what it means? and why do you think people use it all the time?
P.S. i don't mean this in any offense to anyone; it was just a topic i decided to write about because i am curious uvu

I use "le" all the time xD and i do know the meaning behind it as well. So why do I do it, cause its just a fun formal way of saying something else and its different.
-le stalks- B)
It just purely depends on the person, since i find the word "le" to be a joyful fun thing to just say and be goofy
-
I've actually wondered over this myself.
Yet not been too bothered.
I don't know french, so.
I'm aware a couple of my friends do or have done this.
-
I myself have never really used this term simply because I deem it to be a bit mainstream and overused. I prefer speakin' a tad bit different from most everyone else. However, those who do use this term use it simply because it's different and somethin' new to roll off their tongues. At least that's what I perceive.
-
I think people like to use the word, "le," so often is for personal amusement when speaking to someone else. Like, as stated as an example earlier, "-le types-" or whatnot. Since, then, it's like the word, "derp." Eventually, if people use it enough, they find other ways to define it and what it means. It's done all the time, even if the word as a meaning that says the complete opposite of its origin, like "bad" meaning "good." For "le", being as it is, it may fall into that same trap with the mainstreams. Maybe, maybe not.
-
I use the word "le" from time to time.
Why do I use it? Because it makes it more interesting rather than saying the book, le book.
A new way of saying "the" which usually makes it complicated for some but otherwise, it's a fun word to use.
-
I don't usually use 'le' a lot, but it does give me a chuckle or two when I see it used in a funny way, like in memes. Not sure why people use it though, as stated above, I guess it's a fun way of speaking, and it is in a way.
-
I'm aware that 'le' in french means 'the', making things like:
-le stalks-
-le dances-
-le dies-
Grammatically incorrect. People use it for fun, or to derp around... and let's face it, saying thinks the wrong way is now deemed cool. X'D

I don't use this term so much anymore, I find it rather unnecessary although I used it quite often a few years ago xD
I did study French a while ago and so when I first heard people using this term I was a little confused.
People in general chat would often use 'le' and I kinda got into the habit of it, I ended up using 'le' a lot usually as I'm about to log off or join a group.

Using "le" in a language other than French is annoying lol. I don't use "le" unless in a joking manor.
-
My explanation here would be that using "le" is like baby talk. It's meant to be cute & silly. Often the use of "le" is in no way related to French. Some vocalizations just sound amusing and aren't meant to have a meaning but more a feeling. Example like the hur hur hur, herp derp, mew etc words. It's not so much about the meaning of the word but the feelings or scenario that it's used in. Some things don't have to make sense you know.
-
Everyone has their own way of speaking- or typing. Even if it's not always grammatically correct. I try to just ignore it, as I'm too shy to correct them, especially if it's one of my friends. xD
If I think about it, this is somewhat similar to the word "Ain't". People use it, but it's not correct to really use... So yeah, I don't know, most people figure these things out on their own though, or just use it because they think it's cool to do so... Well, the "le" fad has calmed down a lot actually from how I've seen it be in the past. :I
-
Its used for derpy, OOC use. It's fun :D I use it, but not very often. Maybe when I'm in a bit of a silly mood I'll use 'le' quite a lot.
My friends and I use it a lot when we derp... For example -ahem-
-Le pokes-
-Le pokes with stick-
-Le pokes with metal pole-
-Le pokes with empire state building-
-Le crushed-
:D

Le banana, le Wildstar, le Feralheart, le flops, we all know of the le don't we?
As I checked on Google Translate, if I typed in "the", I get "le", so le is French for the, however I only want to learn Japanese, not French nor Spanish.
Speaking of le's in FH, since le is a meme around the internet(There's a bit of history of le on the internet on Know Your Meme) people seem to use it in Doge-grammar like way, such as le-stalk.
The French and English languages have always got along, okay there has been some bumpy shores, but since they gave us the Statue of Liberty we must have been so kind back to the French.
Back to the le, if I saw correctly on Know Your Meme, I think the le craze(Hahahahaha) started from a drawing of a lady in a dress saying "I am le tired".
Whatever we le stalk, or le dance, or le faint, its le everywhere(le hahahahaha!).
-
I think most people use it to convey that they are joking. I know a few that uses it in serious role-plays >.>
-
yea i have not used that word ever without knowing what it means and i never did until today, anyway i guess people like adding spark to their comments
-
In my opinion it is just the same as wolf speak, but just in a different way.
I guess that people just want a hint of humor in their text like saying "Danke!" (Danke is a word originating from Germany) as thank you or "-Le writes a post-" for making it sound 'good'.
People also often use it in a derpy situation, just to fill that chat box up with some that-isn't-right words.
It may sometimes be funny to use it, but in my case I find it useless. "If you don't write in French, why use French words?" Is what I would often say to myself when I see someone using French words in english lines. (Or any other language.)
-
'Le' is often used at http://www.ragestache.com/ (http://www.ragestache.com/) and many people know/has heard of Ragestache. Not all, but a good amount. That's about all I can really think of.
-
I always thought it was referring to one of those Spongebob Squarepants cut scenes when it says "2 Hours Le later" In that French voice. I don't know to be honest. I don't say it much myself. o3o :D
-
I actually just use it for fun or to derp around XD
I am actually in French class and know the meaning, but it just looks so derpy and it makes me grin. It is just one of those silly little things that put smiles on people's faces! And laughter is good medicine for the soul.

"Le" comes from those awful, tactless rage comics. I suppose we have some 9gag users here.
How unfortunate.

Hmm, Yes I have indeed wondered why people said it, yet I figured it meant nothing and was just a fin way of saying things ;)
thanks for expanding my knowledge
