(Yes I realized I was the last to post a new topic, but this didn't really go with what I was saying :P)
I would like to have, ingame, gender symbols under our names.
It drives me crazy when I get called a boy, and I have to correct the poor person.
It would save ALOT of confusion and embarrassment if this were added. And possibly our groups under our names too if it wasn't much trouble.
-
I do like that idea. It would be very helpful. xD I got called a guy a few times. D:
But groups? Hm...I like it, but I don't think it's needed. You can see groups if you double click the user. :P
-
I get called a guy all the time LOL. It doesn't bother me much since it's happened so much. But I do like this idea.
Then again, people don't check profiles. I know. Because on every site I have my gender posted on it, and I still get called a guy. So, in some cases, it wouldn't help much. xD I do like the idea though.

Hmm I think thiis is a great idea.. One of my characters has a side maine.... and i think its girlish.... so then i add a cheek tuft... but then i think thats STILL girlish... And then i add a backmaine.... and i think its not really girlish.. and when i go in game i get called a girl lol. But I think just the color of the yellow stuff gets changed so for girls its red and for boys its blue or something like that? so its not flooded with group: dljgakfjk Gender: Female. It would be kinda long.
-
I always put in my bio, "I AM A GIRL." No one really reads bios unless you ask... I sure don't.
I don't think it would be crowded though... on Pirates of the Caribbean online, the group under the name fits perfectly, though it's a bit small. I don't really do groups, but I think this might help the awkward "Oh, you already have a group..." moments. And it would be easier to identify your own group. Some people put the group's initials in their name, and this works fine.
And also I meant under your name-tag that's above your head, not in your bio thingy.
-
I like the gender thing. But I don't know about the group. If someone's really interested in inviting you, they should check your bio or just plain ask you.
-
kinda agree with this
but someone always brings up the "genderless" and the one that have "both parts"..
or even the ones that think they are girls stuck in a males body, and vice versa.
Then you have the ones that simply just want to look/act like the opposite gender but keep there parts.
/not trying to offend anyone - I just don't know the technical names.
-
Well, your right Sly. But I don't think we have that on the site, do we?
Maybe a "Do not show gender" in the options?
-
yes tht would be very helpful! its hard to make ur chara look like a female if u dont want it to look girly
-
Great idea, that's very useful :)
+1 karma :P
-
I Agree With This 8D
-
:o Thank you guys c:

I like this idea.. it doesn't have to be anything serious, just a little symbol right at the end of our name or something

Exactly.
-
Hm, what about symbols for both users and their characters?
As a girl, I do have female characters, but I also have male characters. It gets tiresome explaining that the character is a male, and I, myself, am female... and this happens a lot.
-
Yes. That's a good idea, but I thought people would freak out and say "The name tag is too long I said!"
And I think the characters gender should be in info. and your actual gender by your screen name.
-
Well, actually. My usertag in-game even says "Girl" right in it, and it's not that long. Some people are too lazy to check names for implied genders? XD
-
I have "Girl" written in all my bios, but no one bothers to look. :U
-
i personally think the idea is pretty good. though it isnt necessary, it would be nice to have.
Though really if it bothers you to be called a boy, you could put a "(F)" after your name to state your gender
-
But not everyone is going to do that....
and not everyone will know what it means.
and I don't like mistaking people for the opposite gender either.
-
Most people would probably be able to figure it out. And you also have to keep in mind every little thing takes up space in the FH folder. some other things may be more necessary than having a gender sign
-
Well yes....
But you know some of those WQ people >.>.....
-
LOL well yeah i guess thats true as well [;
-
I second this idea! And heck- if we could change the symbol/make it invisible (like our name-tags), it would be even better. It would be quite helpful in roleplay. ^^
-
Love the idea, but I'd want an option to not choose a gender, given that I've got several androgynous/genderless characters and see them around the plains sometimes.
-
I support this idea except..
I would never want gender symbols shown under or beside the name tag. Only if this was shown in the Bio only or next to the name there. And of course as mentioned, there would still be an option to skip choosing a gender at all.
-
First of all, if you were to have a gender identification for your characters, it would be best placed in the bio. And if it's in the bio, then why need a symbol when you could type it in?
But you want your gender to be instantly recognizable as some people do not bother with the bio.
If you were to have a symbol, it would be optional to portray for both you and everyone else - even if you have your symbol enabled it does not mean someone else can see it (they "can" but because you want this option for the sake of instant gender verification there's still a chance that someone else will not have this feature enabled and therefore their reaction won't be very instant).
But this optional symbol is the best way; something simple like an "m", "f", and "o", (at least) beside the character name, perhaps in a different colour to be easily differentiated from the name, would be ok. The same beside the username would be helpful too, if you want that. Of course, all of this could be turned off in the options menu for those who don't.
-
I think this is a great idea. I hate it whenever I'm mistaken for a male, once i had hot PINK markings was still mistaken.
-
A gender symbol next to names would be great! I hate clogging up names with tags.
-
Please do not go necro old threads, the last post was over a year ago.
-
I wouldn't want symbols, maybe boys have blue name tags, girls have pink, genderless players have purple name tags. Something like that so it looks neater.
