Title: Howling Rant.
Post by: Sandfury on August 19, 2014, 09:33:19 am
I am shaking like an earthquake right now. This is what I REALLY want to get off my chest...

Howling.

"omg stop howling!11!"
"I'm telling the MODs about this spam, and everyone who is howling will be banned!"
"please stop howling"

Okay, Howling Spam. This is SIMPLE to fix. And there's many ways to do it.

Way 1
Hit ESC and go to options. Go to the sound tab and pull the effects slider to 0. SIMPLE.

Way 2
Hit your megaphone on your taskbar. Hit mixer, and scroll over to Feralheart. Hit the megaphone again. FH is now muted! SIMPLE.

Way 3
Remove the howl file by going to Feralheart>Media>Sounds. It should be howl1. SORTA SIMPLE.

Way 4
Turn down your volume all the way. SIMPLE.

I'm tired of people yelling, "OMG STOP HOWLING MY EARS ARE BLEEDING!" Yes, it can be annoying as heck, BUT there is a solution to it. Your whining and complaining is more annoying than the howl spam itself. I've even come across someone who claimed that it was against the rules. Why would they have a howl button if it was against the rules?
Exactly.
Now, the reason I made this is because Bonfire is known for trolls. Especially howl spammers. It's really annoying how people moan and complain about them. I try to explain the solution...
AND GUESS WHAT?
They keep moaning.

It's making my hair fall out how... Immature and lazy they are being.

THERE.
IS.
A.
SOLUTION.

People who complain like this should be reading this right now, It bugs me hearing people say "Stop howling!!!!" when they could just mute FH, its simple. Thank you Sanfury for making a topic about this, the ones who complain will be reminded.

I've seen far too many people complain about this. It's too easy to fix. Why are you just all butt hurt in Local instead of trying to do something about it? It's logic!

I almost never have my sound on, especially going to places notorious for howl spam. Also, you can also change the howl to something else, probably more peaceful, funny, etc.
Howl spam isn't even that big of a deal, though I have to admit I've done it once before (before I could barely understand the word "spam", when I was about eleven); it's just another thing for people to complain about, which is ridiculous. Sometimes I wonder how the human race is still intact with the world with all its complaining.

Omg thank you! Someone finally put this up!

Yes I have to admit it is annoying to hear people howling, and seriously it gets on my nerves at times too, but that is why I have the sound off on Feral Heart now, and put on my music while I play. It is so simple to fix the whole  "Howling Spam"  issue. It is so simple to just go, and mute everything in Feral Heart. I honestly wish the people who complain about the spam are reading this so that maybe it will teach them to hush their mouths.

Finally someone made a rant thread about the howl spammers. I do admit it is quite annoying, but a long time ago I changed the default howl to the WQ howl, so it doesn't bug me that much anymore. I always see people complaining about the howl spam, and just like you do, I tell them that turning the sound off is a solution. All they do is ignore me and continue to complain >.>

Howlers are indeed quite annoying, Though there are ways to fix the problem not everyone wishing to turn their sounds off like me. For some odd reason I like to hear the sounds I just feel like the game should run with it so Whenever there's howlers Yes. It gets on my nerves but complaining about it also feeds the howlers at the same time. I don't understand why howling is abused.

About the Blocking Tactic that doesn't work. I've tried it many times but for an odd reason you can still hear the howling, but not SEE the person.

Aye, thank you for making this.

The howlers do it to annoy I think, and complaining does nothing about it, thats what they want it seems. I usually have my sound very low just to avoid that, and I always see at least someone complaining. It's a very simple fix and no one does anything because they rather complain right? Eh heh, it is quite annoying.....and a hassle to take care of. ~listens to music while howlers spam~

I solely agree on this. People should be aware that there are others role-playing as well as trolling and messing around with the actions and emotions. Yes, it ma be annoying but there are many ways to fix this irritable problem. What I don't get is the fact that people registered in-game and went in-game into a "public" map, and they agreed to facing such situations; yet they go and tell others to simply "shut up".

Some people just troll and being a wise floof, the people who are "annoyed" should simply turn down the volume etc and ignore them. This is because the trolls love to wind people up, and your just giving them fuel to continue.

I agree, howling spam isn't that big of a deal, and we all like to do something when we are bored. But when there's constant complaining when it's easy to fix, now you need to calm down. Oh, and when I discovered how to change the files last night I went crazy. xD It was funny to listen to the stupid things I put in the game.

Alright, fixed the post.  People might just like to howl- I mean the howling sound is pretty, especially if you have it replaced with a different sound.

Omg I'm surprised how many people are happy I made this. xD It's great to see people with the same opinion.

Yes, the howl spammers are indeed annoying. But I agree the complainers and very much more.
These people are indeed just howling constantly to get a kick out of some people.
Here's what I saw today:
-Someone roaring a lot-
"Omg stop roaring ill report u and u will get banned"
"omg stop im dyslexic and special needs -cries-"

Some people need to understand there are other ways other than arguing.
Roaring/ Howling is NOT against the rules, people, and does not need to be reported.

I hope whoever needs to complain about howling/ roaring is reading this.

Honestly, I don't mind howlers. I just suck it up and ignore it. If they continue, and I eventually loose it, I just go somewhere else. I never argue with them, and the howling is quiet (at least to me). Seriously, most people need to just not explode with rage when there is a Howler/Roarer. All of those solutions are good ones, and I am glad you made this rant, because the people who complain really need to see this.

I don't mind the howlers and even though their are obvious ways to deal with it some people just happen to make a big deal about it. This also happen to me recently I was in Bonfire on pride rock and this group of wolves were howl spamming and this one person came up to them(I don't remember exactly what they said but I do remember most)

Person1: Why don't you noobs stop howling
Person2: Just mute them
Person1: Why should I mute my sound for a bunch of noobs

Now this started a whole argument between the first person and spammers till the first person decide to leave the game and logged off and even with the person gone the spammers were still continuing on calling him the noob instead.

I mean really all of this drama because some people decided to howl spam -.-
