'Ey guys, out of curiosity I've been wondering... Do you guys speak any other languages other than English? :o
If so, how fluently do you speak it?
What is an example of how fluently you speak it? (Like, give an example. Optional, I'm just curious about stoof. :{P)
How does it feel to be able to think in different languages? (Or more likely, do you?)
If not, are there some languages you want to learn in the future?
As for me, I know I've been wanting to learn a lot of languages it seems, like German and Korean, even a bit of Russian at some point. In having such a bad memory, I guess it'll be hard, however. As of now, I still want to learn German. x3 But again, what about you guys?
-
Swedish, being my native language, I am forced to speak it fluently. xD
Other than that, only English.
Could've spoke Spanish by now if I continued my classes instead of dropping it. Oops. ;0
-
My main language is Norwegian but I've been learning english for as long as I can remember. Other than that, I took a year long class in beginners Japanese. :D
-
I speak english just about most of the time, but I speak swedish and spanish although I am just learning them both, but I plan to get better in the near future as I wish to take a vacation to Sweden one day :3
-
Hmm...well I studied Spanish at school, and got a C grade in my GCSE, but I'm not exactly fluent. Probably forgotten most of it by now.
I've picked up some little bits of French, Greek, Turkish and Scottish Gaelic from my travels to different places. I couldn't string a sentence together though xD Maybe with French, but none of the others.
-
Sadly I do not speak another language no, but I do indeed sign American Sign Language. ^^
-
So far, its mainly English. But I'm learning a language called "Dovahzul" and you may have already noticed, but its not an official language xD Its fictional; from a video game called Skyrim (from the TES series). I started learning it just for the laughs I guess. But then I got interested in it and I already know all the grammar rules. And let me tell you; its way easier than English.
There aren't plurals, and there's no 'ed' or 'ing' endings. I guess its pretty nice.
But maybe I'll be completely honest with myself. I mainly use the language to mutter "negative" things, such as swearing or just commentary. But sometimes I like hearing myself talk; it's kinda like when your talking, people won't know if you're fangirling over your favorite actor or talking about Mufasa's death. You never know B3 There's not much else to say xD But what's cool is that in Skyrim, you'll find the language everywhere in the game, but I can understand what they're saying. It's just a cool feeling, y'know?
But besides that I want to learn French, since my dad's side of the family has that history. Or I might learn Swedish, since I have it in my blood. I guess we'll see though ;o
-
I don't speak any other language besides English fluently, but I'm interested in learning Swahili.
I took two after school classes to learn French and I forgot everything I learned

hey! want to know how you say some things in dutch?
hello = hallo.
bye = doei.
sweet dreams = slaap lekker.
good morning = goede morgen.
i like to put donuts around my ears and pretend i'm shrek = ik vind het leuk om donuts om mijn oren te doen en dan doe ik alsof ik shrek ben.
i am addicted to milk = ik ben verslaafd aan melk.
feel free to ask if i can translate something from English to Dutch cause i would love to = voel je vrij om te vragen of ik iets Engels naar Nederlands wil vertalen want ik zou het graag doen.

Well, the only languages I can speak or understand are English and Finnish, since I was born here in Finland and that we learn English in school. And yes, for some reason, I always think in english and sometimes even with a guy's voice, I just don't know why. Oh and always when I write down stuff I write it in English.
I never need to study to my English exams though because I'm already a lot better speaking it than the majority of people I know. Interesting thread ye have there, fellow floof!
-
I'm always speaking English and learn to speak German and Spanish, because that's fun and great for myself :)
-

^sorry if the grammar is bad lol
My native language is English. I really want to learn German, my school has German classes, but I'm already in the third year of Spanish and I'm kinda sick of learning a new language.
-
Dutch = Native
English = Intermediate>Expert
I vary with accents. My main accent be American and without me realizing, I switch to the Middle-North-British accent. Sometimes even Southern.
Been learning a few accents over a year now. I still have issues with pronounciation of difficult words, but I'm getting there hehe.
Further I've learned a lil' bit of French, German and Spanish. Other than that I'm a beginner in Norwegian.
But most of all, I pick up words from every specific language that looks interesting to me.~
-
I don't know any other languages but I'm really interested in learning either Korean or German. 0:
-
1. Bulgarian - native language; fluently, of course.
I don't think there are many other bulgarian players here on FH.
Example:
He stared in her beautiful, deep and dark eyes. - ??? ?? ??????? ? ????????? ?, ??????? ? ????? ???.
2. English - Advanced to Master; like a second language.
And that's it, unfortunately. And I say unfortunately because I'm pretty interested in any language, I love learning new languages. I know a few things in Spanish from my travel to Spain, I'm interested in mastering Spanish, learning Swedish, French, German (I'll be studying German after some months), Russian and probably many other xD
-
In order from how I learnt the languages:
Greek (Born in Athens, Greece. Lived there for 6 years) - Master
(I did move to Alaska for 2 years, but still spoke Greek)
Japanese (Move to Japan a day later. Stayed there for 6 years) - 90&% fluent
English (Moved to Maryland a week later. Currently stayed for 5 years) Master
-
Gut ich bin lernen Deutsch.
