Title: FeralHeart won't start up at all?
Post by: Emerald on November 13, 2014, 02:50:58 am
I'm a brand new player. I believe I downloaded the game correctly. When I attempt to load the game I get a black screen and an error message. It says "FeralHeart.exe has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly." Is there a way for me to fix this? I'm hearing rumors of a crash so I'm hoping that's what's wrong.

I'm really looking forward to playing this game.

It could be yer renderin' system settin' or yer antivirus even. Try exemptin' FeralHeart from yer antivirus' firewall 'n see if it'll work then. The game could be blocked.

Here's a tutorial on how to change yer renderin' system:

How to Change Your Rendering System
Windows 7 and 8

Method number 1
First, go into C:\Feralheart. If you look at Feralheart's main folder, you will see a file called "ogre." This file is a .cfg file, which means people can read an edit it with simple text.
Click it, and open it with "NOTEPAD" when it asks.

Look at the first two lines in the ogre.cfg file. That is where you change your rendering system. You can basically ignore everything else listed there!

On my image, my first two lines are:

Render System=Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem
[Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem]

To change my rendering system, I'll need to change it to:

Render System=OpenGL Rendering Subsystem
[OpenGL Rendering Subsystem]

And vise versa! Simple as that. ^^

Method number 2
Turn on Feralheart.
On the main screen, you will see this:

Click options, and go to video. Click 'Rendering System.'

Then just simply switch your rendering system.

Note that sometimes method 2 doesn't always work- That's why I listed the ogre.cfg file first. ^^ Good luck! Hope this helped those who don't know how to change their rendering system.

I don't have the ability to open CFG files. And i can't do the second method because it won't let me open FeralHeart. Thanks for trying to help though. I'll see if it's a firewall issue.

I know the rendering system isn't the issue because im using the Direct3D9 system right now. Im almost positive my antivirus isn't blocking it because it would pop up with a message (instead of a widows message). I'll go ahead and try and see if I can exempt it anyway If I can figure it out...

Try opening it with this: Notepad++ (http://notepad-plus-plus.org/)

Attempt to set your setting to OpenGL or Direct3D9, if that doesn't work it could be a virus so try scanning your computer.
