Title: (Map question) Difference between into just exports, and other folders
Post by: Mystery1231 on January 06, 2015, 05:25:18 am
Hello, I am in the making of a map, and I thought I would ask this question earlier on before I finish it.

Some maps that I download, it says to put them all in exports... while other maps that I download have a more specific way.. some in exports, objects, sounds, sky, etc. Is there really a difference on if they have to go in specific folders, or can they all just go to Exports? I don't want to cause problems when I start my group haha. Any information on this would be appreciated.. thank you.

The easiest way is to just load your map in Map Maker and click the 'Export' button. This will create map files in your Exports folder, which you can upload and share with your friends who can just put in their Exports folder.

If you want custom music then you'll have to place files into your sounds folder. Sometimes objects and sky files won't show up and you have to place the files into their default folders; such as objects, sky, weather etc.

I would go with putting everything into the Exports folder first and there are any issues try putting the certain files into their correct folders.

Hope this helps! :)

I see, so like, if I personally made meshes for objects, they have have to go in the objects folder separately, and as you said, with the sky and sound. That makes sense. I shall take this into consideration when I finish my map.. Thank you ever so much!

You're very welcome :)

Yes, you're right about that. However, those can go in the Exports folder (except for the sound one), it's usually if there's a sky or object related issue that they go into their designated folders.

It works either way though!
