Title: Why can't the game be updated? o:
Post by: Dawnstorm on February 13, 2015, 09:16:32 pm
I've heard everywhere that the game can't be updated. Which really sucks because some updates like 'Unlimited Bio Space' would be really rad.

But why can't the game be updated in the first place? o~o I'm curious to know. Did the files go corrupt or something?

Aye, tis true. KovuLKD, the creator of FH has left back in late 2011, since then no updates have been added into FH. In order to update the game we would need the source, which LKD has taken with him and not left the staff.

You can still download modifications to the game non the less [click me] (http://www.feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&board=34.0) from here, the Modifications board.

Kovu, the main developer, can't update the game.

Yeah it's sad... I'd love to see a few things go into the game. (One of my ideas would really help... teleporting to your online friends.)

Okay... Here's something that drives me crazy and I just gotta say this... YOU CAN STILL UPDATE THE GAME -.- Simply open up feral-heart in notepad and edit what you want! I have no clue if this would work, but I'm pretty sure someone with a pretty good skill for coding could be able to do anything they want with the game!
Take a look at this quote from the Official Game rules:
Quote
Altering Game Files
Do NOT alter any of the decrypted files or codes for the game that might affect the maps and/or gameplay. Giving you an advantage or not, the files should remain intact unless you are given a permission to change them. If you are caught doing this you will most likely face a longer ban.
The source code may have not been made public because KovuLKD may not want people to edit the game. It's not a wise idea to change a game in such a way without any permission, as that quote says above. ;o

As Alpha says above, altering the game files are against the rules as well as it might mess up the FH game, then no one can fix it because you did it yourself.

Also very few have such 'skill'. Sorry to burst your bubble, but we wouldn't want the game messed up for some peeps. :P

(Gosh I'm a mini-mod :P)

Seeing as this isn't something that can be really resolved, at least not until KovuLKD returns with the source code which would then allow for the game staff to update the game, I will be locking this topic.
Also, as mentioned above by Alpha; You may, under no circumstances, alter the coded/decrypted files that may change your gameplay or the maps.

Thank you.
