Title: Crashing Problems
Post by: greenart6 on April 04, 2015, 08:32:53 pm
So I've been making a map for an RP, and I'm almost done with it except that now my Feralheart is having a crashing spree. It crashes a majority of the time, either when getting on a character or opening the game, but still not all the time.

Yes, I tried changing my rendering system from Direct to OpenGL, but OpenGL just made it so it crashed every time I tried to open the game. I haven't even exported the map yet, so I'm kinda confused how a map is forcing the game to crash. Does anybody have any ideas on what to do? And please don't say to reinstall the game, I'll only do that if nothing else works. :P

Make sure that if you used any downloaded meshes, they didn't share the same name as a default mesh in FH, such as Rock1 or OakTree or something of the sort.

Also make sure, if you used any particles in your map, that none of the particles in your FH>Media>Particles folder don't end in _0 or _1. Delete those as they will crash your game.

Could I get some more information on the details of your map? Such as, did you in fact use any particles?

I didn't use any particles, and I checked the folder but there's no duplicates. I did have some animated trees, but I changed them since it had been lagging the map too much.

If it makes a difference, the map has a width of 70000 and a height of 5000.

the 70000 may be your problem. Most maps crash me if they're over 10000 so that could be your issue.

Well, it worked perfectly fine before with 70000 (and if I were to change the width it would effect the map too much), it only started crashing maybe yesterday.

Do you have a TON of meshes in your map? That has crashed me before, if you have a lot try deleting some that may not be as important or if you put a collisions on a lot of meshes or ones that you use commonly such as trees

Not really, I've had to remove a lot and not make it very detailed. Basically it's just a lot of trees, and then just desert and mountains which I don't have a lot of meshes on.

I should point out that I'm not crashing every time I enter the map or try to work on it, it's when I try doing really anything and it might crash. So it might not be the map causing my problems, but it's the only thing that I have been doing on the game besides making a preset.

Bump? The problems are still there.

Also, I noticed that there are missing objects in my map. For one, the portal is missing and I was put outside the map, when I know for the fact that I put it in and saved it. It worked before while testing in-game and I could see the portal. Then, one of the meshes was missing. This appears in map maker, and it had appeared in-game as well before, but not now. (So it isn't the saving in an old group problem)
