Title: Map Mesh Help
Post by: XxInsaneAsylumxX on April 12, 2015, 11:15:32 pm
Hey! Azy again with yet another problem.
I just finished a map, and I went through the portal in Cape, and the trees from a specific mesh pack appeared as this:

Any idea how to fix this? It never did it before, and the trees are perfectly fine in Map Maker.

That really is strange isn't it? My only guess is that Feralheart is just briefly glitching, and may hopefully go back to normal. I've had problems where meshes would randomly stretch and change texture and do all sorts of funky things. I think and hope that it will go back to normal, it may just be glitching. Sorry for my lack of helpfulness. o.o

Have you exported that certain mesh before? I would head back to the Object Maker and export the mesh again. Then, head back to the Map Maker, open the map, and export it again. This may fix the problem. Crossing my fingers for you!

I've found that if I try exporting an item using a texture/mesh I already have, when the "Replace, cancel, or keep both" comes up, if you hit keep both, this usually is what happens. That's been my experience anyway. I hope this helps!

The trees still appear white, I've tried exporting them again, and searching though the files to make sure there are no duplicates or anything.
I'm getting quite frustrated with this, since it's never happened before.
But, I've noticed that only the trees in the one object group do this, and the same trees that are in another group work fine.
Perhaps its the object group that is causing the issue, but I have have not modified it at all since I downloaded it.
I'll just make a new object group for the these meshes, and see if it works.

That happens to me too, and I can never do anything about it and its only an object or two that does it. It's also aweful when it turns like a bumble bee for no reason. I'm sorry, but I haven't found a solution to this yet myself. Although I heard from a mapmaker who made a map that had this issue with me, said to go and delete any maps you don't need from your files because if you have the same object in certain maps that are in this one, it can corrupt it or something.

Ok, then it must be the mesh's texture. You may need to find the texture and rename it. Then head into the FHO file for the mesh and update the coding with the new texture name.

Thanks for the help, you guys! Simply making a new object group was an easy solution, and I soon finished the map, and posted it to the forums.
Now, the only problem is the music, which doesn't seem to work for anyone.. But eh, its just music.

I could help you with music; I put music in all my maps. If you need help with that I am happy to assist!

Ah, well..
I put my music in the sounds folder, and the music works fine for me, but everyone else seem to not hear it.
The reason I don't see it as a big deal is that they said the map was peaceful enough with just the bird sounds from meshes. So it's nothing to be so concerned about, but I would greatly appreciate a bit of help.

Ah, the problem is that it should be placed in the music folder. (Fh<media<music) You also need to give the code for the music (for example media/music/TheSong.mp3). It should look something like that. If I were on my computer I would have double checked. It will need to be placed in a .cgf file and placed in the download along with the mp3s. Make sure to tell them to place it in the FH music.cgf file below the music codes they already have. If this doesn't work just let me know and I shall see what else I can do. Feel free to message me if you need any other help. I'm happy to assist.

Ah, really!? I was told entirely different! Makes me a tad ticked off, and feel a little bad because I told my friend to put her map music into the sounds folder.. Whoops.
Thanks a bunch, I'll try this out. If it doesn't work, I'll be sure to let ya know.

You're most welcome! I saw a tutorial that tells you to place it into the sounds folder, so I did so. When I tried it in-game, no music came out. So I fiddled around with it until I figured out that it needs to go into the music folder. It may also work with sounds depending on how long the mp3 is, but I have yet to test this theory. I am surprised you got it to work on sounds. Good luck with the maps and fingers crossed for your music!
