Title: What makes a good pride/pack/clan on FH?
Post by: Melchom on April 15, 2011, 10:58:29 pm
Just want to discuss, what makes a good pride or w.e on FH?

A good ranking system?
Good leadership?
Good roleplayers?

What is your opinion? Personaly, I don't have a clue haha. But thats why I'm asking really. I'm currently designing and organising a Legion for FH. I want to know from the members of FH what would make the 'perfect' pride or pack. So please, enlighten me (x

Pardon if this is a poor excuse for a discussion, haha.

Activity.

You can have the most awesome pride ever with thousands of members. But if only 3 of them are active, you'd might as well not have a pride. A good pride, a successful pride has caring and loyal members who are not only active in role-play, but active in the dirty work as well. A lot goes into organizing story-lines for a pride based role-play. And if your members don't apply themselves to helping it come to fruition, they aren't truly active.

Alignment.

A pride should know where it stands int he world. Good, evil, neutral. And various forms there of. A pride that wavers from one alignment to the next isn't a solid pride. If it can't make up it's mind now, how will it make up it's mind later? Without a solid alignment, alliances won't form. Pride to pride interactions will be muddled. And eventually, players may take the pride just as unseriously as it takes it's alignments.

Leadership

A strong leader, or pair of leaders, leads itself well to a strong pride. A leader should be ready to take on the tasks required to keep a pride active and role-play engaging. Leaders should be sympathetic to the life needs of their members but still hold a firm ground when their rules get broken.

Respect

The members of a pride need to have respect for one another. As players. Characters have nothing to do with this. If your members don't respect you, you'll find yourself with a very inactive group. Adversely, if you don't respect them, you can also end up watching them drift away. These are real people behind those characters. Treat them as such.

Members

You just can't have a pride without members. lol

Role-play, role-play, role-play

Never abandon character. The moment you meet-up, drop the OOC. You'll get more done, and your members will boast more fun this way. It also helps weed out those that will drag your pride down.

Interaction with non-members.

This is by far the biggest. The most successful prides to ever grace Impressive Title were the prides that went out of their comfort zone and interacted with non-pride members and other prides. They pillaged maps, chased down sworn enemies in public, cub-napped, and held glorious battles. They were, and still are a prime example of a good, successful (and pretty dang awesome) pride.

I think a good group should have kind and helpfull members! No maps, literacy and items are needed for group to be good. Good people make good group.

In my opinion what makes a good group is leaders who are understanding. They are willing to compromise with their members on possible rules changes, and make it as fun as possible by making fun little events that everyone can participate in other than just role-playing. Also if they can help keep dramas down along with rule breaking that is a bonus. Especially if they can carry that all out while keeping a nice standing.

Because it doesn't matter how good of a plot, ranking system or story you have in a group if none of the members are active. Especially if the leader isn't active

Though that doesn't necessarily make a good group. A good group needs to have a good plot, leaders, and members. So I'd say those thing are also really important.

I think that the pride/pack needs:

1. good roleplayers

 2. Interesting story line

3. A simple ranking system that everybody can understand, it's so annoying when I join a pack/pride with such an advanced and complicated one that I don't get how the roleplay works.

 4. I prefer prides and packs that explore their surroundings instead of staying in one territory all the time, and with only 4 - 5 members each in them. With fewer members, it encourages the ability to shape the story and keep the roleplay interesting, and always being on the move helps the trait of adventure into the rp.

5. Allies and Rivals, you'll never know what they'll do next, especially if they're too far away to hear. Because of the lack of communication, you'll start to get really anxious about when your Rival will attack, and will help introduce more story lines into the already great one.
