So I've been wanting to create a new map, but I cannot get the height map to work. This is a picture of it:

The size is 513x513, it's set to Grayscale, was done in GIMP and exported as a png image into FeralHeart > media > terrains. Usually this would work, but every time I correctly put the name of the image into map maker FeralHeart crashes. I don't want to have to redo it, but fix it somehow instead; thoughts on how I could?

I don't know much about height maps, but I found a really good tutorial by Red, who explains the process of creating a heightmap pretty well. (The tutorial on GIMP begins at 7:02)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTO8tyhSQPU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTO8tyhSQPU)
Possibly did you forget to flatten the layers?

I copied the original image into a brand new gimp file and flattened the image; thanks for the help though, I wouldn't have imagined to try to flatten it before.

I'll go ahead and lock this since it was solved.
