Kids are everywhere in the FeralHeart community but recently I have seen them being treated poorly by older members.
Anyway, my point is I was walking in bonfire looking to roleplay with someone. Then all the sudden some 'Literate' people started to get bombarded by a little kid. They were saying some snarky comebacks, and being a little rude to the kid. Apparently she wanted to join in a roleplay, when they said no she started to take a little serious. But that's normal in a kid anyway. So I try stepping in, trying to handle the situation in a non-hostile way but yet they blocked the kid.
I understand their intent on blocking the kid, they were annoyed but it could've been handled without the kid's feeling's hurt & the very horrible remarks at her. I hope this can be brought to attention of the staff because I have been seeing this happen way to much and I think it needs to stop.
Let me know how you think about this, have you seen a kid get bullied by an older player?
-
I have seen it lots of times, and I can recall once when I was young and n00by being bullied by a group of older players
I was on a blue winged wolf character that I had just made, and I was very proud of the look. So I go walking along the outer "beaches" of Atlantis, sat down somewhere, and then three of four winged wolves came up to me. They were immediately all very rude to me, saying that I was a n00b and making fun of my character. They said they "owned" the area that I was in (being so young at the time I didn't know how to give the proper "this is a public map and blah blah blah" speech, and just trying to run me out.
After a while I decided to stick up for myself and gave them a pretty good comeback (if I do say so myself), and they were all like "I'm gonna report you for that, I just got a screenie!", even though I said nothing against the rules or anything.
And of course, I believed them in what they were saying about me getting in trouble, so I left. It still pains me to this day of how I could have handled the situation >.>
Here's another thing that I witnessed/somewhat experienced about a week ago; I was sitting in Ficho, just silently listening to everyone, when all the sudden a neon green dragon character comes rolling in, asking if anyone wanted to be their mate. This one person responds with something like "oh sure I have a dragon character that could become mates with your character"
Neon dragon (after not hearing the person the first time): "anyone wanna be my mate?"
Other person: "oh I guess I could"
Other person: (I assume they finally F3ed the neon dragon, because then they responded with something like this;)
Other person: "oh wait, never mind. Your character is ugly and dragons shouldn't ever be colored like that"
So I politely whispered that person, explaining to them that everyone in the game has the freedom to create their characters however they wish and that there is no "right" or "wrong" way to create a character. They ended up sending me rude whispers (nothing rude enough for me to grab a screenshot though) and it ended with them blocking me
But yeah, I agree; it's sad to see younger players get bullied by the older ones

Oh boy... I've seen this way too much, maybe less than some but enough to be pretty mad at the behavior on these kinds of games sometimes.
Even I've been harassed when I was younger and literally didn't know any better. There were some points that people were patient with me, but sometimes just came out to be plain rude. The worst story I have is trying to get into a mapped roleplay, and it seems like the leader of the wolf pack in the end got impatient with how confused I was with trying to be "literate" like they were.
In the end, the packmembers swore at me and kicked me out. Only one person followed me though, and honestly I wish I could remember their username 'cause that must've been pretty brave... This was years ago, all the way back when I was like nine or ten (I'm not sure if I told them or not? I think I did?) so by now I could easily forgive, though the faint memory still makes me feel a little sad at their behavior.
Something similar happened in Flourite Plains with me, too. Very similar, ending in same result excluding the swearing. Some people in that group were actually really sweet to me, and tried to give me the chance to join the RP but sadly that was thrown out... Someone did follow me in the end too, though.
Sorry for the rambling, I like storytelling apparently. Lol. But yeah. I don't remember happenings with someone else /on this game,/ likely because I have a horrible memory or just don't interact much.
To sum up my post, yes. I am really sick of stuff like this happening... Kids are much more sensitive to this stuff (Under 13, usually, but even teenagers can be sensitive...) and it makes me sad, although we can't prevent it. But we can at least try to help, you know? It makes me smile when people are brave like that.

I hope this can be brought to attention of the staff because I have been seeing this happen way to much and I think it needs to stop.
Pretty much any game like Feral Heart that you will encounter will have these situations arise at one point or another. As often as we try to put a stop to things like this, Staff can't be everywhere at once. Between handling behind-the-scenes matters, reports, and other things, we simply can't be in ten maps at once. Nonetheless, if you find yourself or another player in a situation where personal attacks, racist and/or offensive language, and bullying is being thrown around in the game, please screenshot the situation and report it to a Staff member. We don't like to see this behavior as much as anyone else does. The users who send in reports are a big help to us when it comes to making the game a better place.

Its really a sad sight to see older players who are supposed to act as mature individuals downgrade and ridicule younger players on the game just because they're "illiterate" or "noobish" as they say. I've seen younger players get bullied on this game all too much and it really sickens me, especially because a lot of people come on this game as a little safe-haven to escape from the real world. I would know, as when I first joined this game back in 2011, I came here to escape all of my real life problems. The game actually saved my life, if you will. So it really upsets me when I see younger players and just other players and general getting bullied for their grammar, characters, and knowledge of the game.
-
I have seen older members tend to be rude to the younger ones, but I tend to not truly be involved in those kinds of situations. I mean if they are nice to the member at first and the younger keeps persisting then it's fine if the member is blocked by them. Though if rude that's usually when I would step in to attempt helping. If the older members continue to be rude I will just drag the younger one away and help them find another group to be with. Though if it is the opposite, and the younger is rude(Which tends to lead to rowdiness and cursing) then I will tend to take a screenshot or ask for some possible assistance or.
I mean it disappoints me and bothers me when people tend to be rude to one another, but there is not much we can do about those situations then give the victim or both sides a form of advice and hope they take it. If not then they will learn with time later down the road.

Unfortunately, this is a hard truth I have observed numerous times in-game.
Particularly around Bonfire, though it is rampant everywhere.
It's almost as if creativity is no longer welcome.
Thw older members tend to strive more for realism in characters, I've noticed, so think it's their obligation to police and maybe even guide the young ones toward the same realism.
I've seen many of them be very rude to the new players in ways varying from harshly correcting grammar, to calling out an unrealistic character.
In a community where we are all supposed to be a big family that uplifts one another, seeing such behavior is quite sad to be frank. It is ok to mentor new players by kindly teaching them correct grammar or the like, and perhaps give pointers on character creation if asked, but for the most part I believe each character is unique, so bashing one's creation only reflects negatively not only on the player, but on the community.
It can also lead to a new player becoming self conscious of their character, or even lead to them leaving due to the harassment.
-
ugh, this has been bothering me for quite a while. it's rlly a sad show to witness some older guy ridiculing and degrading some youggin when they are supposed to the be mature players around. tbh thinking about it makes me feel sick. my 9 yr old friend comes here to play FH to get out of their harsh reality, and seeing 'mature' players destroy that for them is digusting, not to mention saddening. they have nothing better to do than to bully a young player for their realism, grammar and knowledge??? and i'm not the first to step up and confront these trolls about it, but i feel like even if you can't make a good arguement, atleast try to comfort the younger player. we all need to feel safe, especially when we've come to FH for that.
-
Either I'm blind or I haven't experienced much drama in-game but I can honestly say that I've never seen this.
At least I don't think I have...
All the 'older' players I know and RP with are pretty mature and wouldn't have the audacity to treat 'younger' players as if they were beneath them. The in-game arguments I've witnessed have had nothing to do with literateness but rather their language/behaviour towards each other about a certain subject.
I don't know anyone who goes around telling everyone their age, but what I think you meant was 'newer member'?
And like warriorstike said, the moderators can't always be there to handle the situation. They are not robots. And in comparison to other roleplay games, I think FeralHeart has one of the most well-mannered, helpful communities out there.
-
Though I've seen this I never really understood it. Who cares if someone is new to the game? At some point we all were, and we more likely than not will be "Noobs" again on a different site\game and I can say with certainty I don't ever wanna join a community only to be treated like a sub-human idiot because I'm young or new. I'm also pretty sure that the vast majority of these bullies would loath to be treated the same way they treat others.
Frankly I've never been able to understand intentionally bullying someone whose new to a game either. If you create a community that is toxic to new players guess what? You won't be getting new players and your community will stagnate and more likely than not eventually die.
I switched to another tab for a bit and forgot where I was going with this... Just pretend I made a point.
-
I've done this before. Yet I'm bipolar so thats why i tell people never take me seriously. Once in South Pole there was a group (I'm sorry, Shouldn't say this but, Probably not old as they say) They were older with more realistic characters, While I was on my OC. I wanted to talk to them, but they all called me names. Defending myself didn't work so well because there was 5/4 of them and 1 of me. They called me things like "Youtuber wannabe" n'd stuff. Recently I've gotten into a arguement with someone and its on my DA. Basically they said hacks are on feralheart, and I said their was no hacks in feralheart, they got all mad at me n'd stuff. Like really??
-
Sadly I do see this sometimes. It's odd, because I expect more from our community. It saddens me too think that we are bullying kids just because they aren't old enough too understand all that we do. I hope that we all can try a little harder so kids can feel good in this community of Feral Heart players.
-
Yes, that's so true! Sure, people get annoyed by other people on the game. Hell, I do. All the time. But that was kinda unnecessary for the older members. Who knows? That player may've been more literate than 'em. I've seen this one person make a very new-person looking character, neon, lowercase letters, the classic "shadow f wolfpup" thing, ya know? She then went and starting going off about "jon m y wolf pack!!!!!!!!" and everyone was telling her to be quiet and all, then she asked someone in my group I was in the join. They said they'd need an rp sample, and in front of everyone at Stone Bridge, she gives the most literate post I've seen. Just sayin'. .//shrug
-
In my honest opinion, I think it's unjust to harass younger players, but this is really just normal behavior. Yeah, it's unacceptable to bully younger kids, but when you group preteens with older people, you are bound to see it happen.
If the older kids are flat out rude to so called "younger kids" because "their characters aren't realistic enough", "they don't roleplay as good as them", or other things that are pretty much exaggerated in the case, then yeah that's not good.

It is a very unfortunate thing to witness in the game. I have mixed feelings on this situation.
Today, I experienced something similar between a child member and some older members. The young member wanted to join in on a roleplay, but the older ones told her she couldn't join because it was a roleplay for just their group of friends only (plus they were roleplaying in party chat). She got upset over it saying how rude they were for not letting her join. Most of the experienced roleplayers didn't talk down to her, they only said they didn't want others to join their "private roleplay." She didn't want to take "no" for an answer and proceeded to harass them with threats of reporting them. Therefore, they blocked her.
I can understand how it would make someone feel to get rejected from a roleplay group or get rejected by other players, but can we really force people to roleplay with someone they don't want to. Life isn't always fair, and you can't expect to be invited into EVERY roleplay. If they don't want to roleplay with you then go find someone else to roleplay with. Some of the older and more experienced roleplayers don't want to play with younger or less experienced ones, but that doesn't really excuse them for being rude to them right off the bat. It also doesn't excuse the young players of continuing the fight by harassing the older players or threatening them after they say, "No sorry, you cannot join us." That's when I think it's okay to use the block button (if the fighting doesn't seem to stop).
Me personally, I like to include younger players into my roleplay bubble and give them a chance. If they start acting rude, then that's when I won't speak to them.

It's really disheartening to read the comments on this thread because no one knows the full story of what happened. I have been a victim of the "kid" that was first stated in this thread. You really should get to know the full story before just assuming that we are "bullying" this person. I can tell you the full story, and whether you choose to believe it or not is up to you. (I'm leaving usernames and character names out due to privacy.)
It started when two friends of mine were just sitting around on their horse characters, just talking in whisper, when this border collie pup showed up. Without asking, he tried to force his way into a non-existent RP. At that point, they had kindly told him to leave since they weren't RPing. Well, he ended up refusing. He then proceeded to control one of their characters, and when they asked him not to and told the collie they weren't taking anyone into the farm at the moment, he got angry and went "demon mode". After a while, he disconnected and everyone figured that was the end of that. Well, we were wrong. The next day, he came back and did the /same exact thing/, just with more controlling. After being told once again they weren't RPing and wasn't letting anyone onto the farm, he got angry and got nasty with the same people. He then tried blaming it on a sibling, when he disconnected and reconnected within seconds. A blatant lie, if you ask me. This is where the rumours of the bullying start. Eventually, with enough people explaining what he was doing wrong, he apologized and stopped. Once he left for the day, we thought it was over. Far from it! He came back the next day, acting like nothing had happened and that he hadn't apologized. He tried force RPing MY character this time, saying he had been picked up by an owner I hadn't even thought of yet, and that he lived there. I told him I wasn't RPing and wasn't with a farm. After some talking, he left me alone and I thought he'd finally stop. I was wrong. He tried doing the same thing again! Four times in a row. At this point, a lot of bystanders had seen what happened and knew what he was doing. He got angry with us telling him the same thing we had been telling him, and started cussing us out, calling us the B word and dropping the f-bomb, in local might I add. At one point, he tried pulling the sibling stunt again. No one bought it because he disconnected and reconnected too quickly. Eventually he apologized for swearing and said he'd never bother us again. This was just yesterday. Today, my friend (the same one who had their character RPed without permission the first time), messaged me, telling me that the same person legitimately COPIED her border collie. Markings, colours, size, name, everything. He then tried to play it off as if he didn't know, and tried changing his name many times. Later on he got on a horse and tried to force RP the same people, playing it off as if he was getting bullied for her telling him not to force RP her character.
THAT my friends, if the full and true story. Like I said, believe what you will, but MANY people have seen this happen and know the full story. Please, don't accuse others for bullying when you DO NOT know the whole story. Ask, get the other person's point of view, then decide from there. Don't go in biased like most people do.

Jenga makes a fair point, this literally had nothing to do with your 'Situation'. Yes, I am honest and I did see you and that kid. But this is not what it's about AT all...Also, this isn't 'gossip' at all. It's called Game Discussion for a reason.

I felt like I should jump in, though please be open to my point of view here as well.
I'm sorry for what happened to you two, people can get really nasty, huh? But that actually isn't what we're talking about. We know the difference. What we're talking about is when people bully others, specifically younger people, who actually done nothing wrong. But you went off-topic here. It's very obvious you're not bullying this person. You were handling the situation as it should because they weren't even listening...
So I don't see why you assume we're being biased?
I'm sorry if I'm going off-topic as well but I'm confused.
-
Why am I getting hateful-like comments for trying to clear up the story that the ORIGINAL post is from? I know who posted this to begin with, because they made the same accusation in-game. And gossip? It's not gossip. It's called the truth. And yeah, maybe "biased" was the wrong word. But a lot of people tend to think that it's ALWAYS the older people that bully the younger, when it's the other way around.
-
Don't take this wrong but as far as I see there's no hateful comments here, just people giving their mind on this matter and maybe what was posted maybe was a bit too much.
As far as the post itself goes no names has been used to name shame, nor anything that directly will relate the topic at hand to certain users. It's a very open topic as far as discussion goes, and whether or not the Original poster of this thread posted this due to something you were involved with in the game, I can assure you that the replies that followed is plain discussion on the subject at hand.
I like many others has dealt with persistent younger users that simply refuse to listen and has to end up on a my very own block list so I can understand where your story comes from if that's the case Shaze, but as far as the replies goes to your explanation they simply state that this thread has been her, and has been replied to for the sake for discussion. As far as the initial situation goes it could all be a great misunderstanding, and actions were taken in a proper manner to prevent further issues but it came off as rude from another view. But I do think we will tread lightly from here.
It's a fair discussion this thread, and I do not see any problem with it, but due to the nature of the replies I want to save everyone the hassle and stress over this matter since I just see it as a misunderstanding and will lock this thread. Hopefully that's understandable.
