So I'm looking to make a seasonal mod for the game, nothing too fancy. Mainly changing textures for the most part. But I was wondering perhaps if replacing some of the default FH meshes with other ones via a simple mesh rename would be allowed? Like changing the oak trees into some sort of dead tree for winter. I know there's a rule about not altering encrypted game files, but meshes are by no means encrypted at all. Though they'ed be adding a change to the game. (Possibly effect some collisions for people that don't have the mod. Not that random floating characters due to different mesh collisions is a huge deal really.)
Wanted to be sure it'd be alright to do before I put forth the effort in converting some meshes and working on the mod fully.

Someone else did a Seasonal MOD here:
Seasons in FeralHeart
By Echo
I was working on this all the way in March but I ended up putting down the project
Anyway here's a screenshot of Ficho Tunnel in Winter:

The Seasons mod give more life to FeralHeart, instead of it always being Summer.
How does this work?
Basically, the seasons don't change on their own. You just have to change the Terrain Textures to whatever season you want it as.
As of trees, those are being updated too to blend in with the season better.

As of August, 21, 2015.
The first version's up for download.

I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you messaged them for help :)

Thankyou for the post, but I don't really need help with the mod itself. I know how to change textures/materials, convert/resize/edit meshes in blender and everything else I'll need. I'm asking permission if changing the default FH meshes in public maps is allowed.
Such as taking the oak tree mesh, removing it and replacing it with another mesh with the same name to replace it entirely in the game. So instead of the oak tree mesh you'd see an entirely different type of tree and mesh in general.
As an example of what I mean below. I replaced the acacia tree mesh with another completely different one by simply renaming a mesh.

Ah, I don't see why that 'twould be a problem. I think 'tis alright if ye did so. If there isn't a rule stating that changing the meshes are forbidden, then ye should be okay.

Ah thankyou. ^-^ I was thinking as such, but I just wanted to be sure beforehand. c:

Of course. 'Tis better to be safe than sorry. Glad I could be of help.

To make the situation a bit more clear and to clarify.
We cannot really stop anyone from modifying the game in such a manner if they so wanted when it comes to simple drag, drop, replace cases. The thing I want to put some weight on here however is that by no means should anyone alter how the meshes actually works when it comes to the collisions and other potential matters how they will appear for others in the game and it's official maps. Re-texturing and other mesh swapping is A-Okay if so wanted as long as it's plainly visual but anything that changes beyond that we cannot say will be allowed.
Changing visuals is fine, how an actual mesh works not so much.

So to clarify swapping out meshes is totally fine in the official public FH maps as long as we're not editing the default mesh itself? I'm not editing the FH meshes at all; simply replacing them with other ones entirely. Which in itself will alter collisions people see without the mod as the meshes wont be the same at all.
For example taking out the "rock.mesh" file FH comes downloaded with in the rock objects folder. And adding in a entirely different mesh with the same name.

As explained in earlier post, changing the collision so the maps act differently compared to the original game itself and in those cases it's not as much a "go ahead" status.
Changing the visuals of the game is alright, as long as it doesn't change how it works in the game itself such as collissions added./and or modified

Alright then. Though I really don't see the harm or reasoning in trying to offer the community something nice like that. It's not as if mods are needed to be downloaded. (A few floating characters here and there due to collisions isn't that odd either imo).
Thankyou for the reply.
Edit: Would the bushes and foliage be ok to replace as they lack collision?

Anything you'd want to change you're allowed to change as long as it doesn't cause characters to be where it shouldn't be possible to be or extend collisions or in general cause oddities. So yes, a shrub without collisions wouldn't really be a problem at all.
