Title: Are New Models Possible?

Hello! I was just thinking about an addition to the game I would like. This addition, to what I understand about the game so far, could be possible-but I feel like i'm wrong because it hasn't even been mentioned as a possible addition. I'm talking about newer models. I've seen the .skeleton files in my game, and i've replaced them with newer animations in the past. My question is, why can't we simply add a few more files into the game to add a deer or a horse or a cat model? I'd wet my pants if this were possible. Would something like this require re-coding of the game? :(

This seems more suitable in Game Help.
Adding new models and updating the game is sadly not possible without a source code which only the creator has unless shared with others. The staff hasn't got the source and are only able to make minor changes to the server itself.

Figuratively, we could add new models in-game. However, because we do not have access to the game's coding, we would only be able to replace the feline or canine models. Goldie and I have talked about this and for some reason I have a feeling Alphabet is attempting this sometime soon.
Replacing the models would take a lot of work. First of all you'd have to model it, make the skeleton, weight paint (a pain in the behind), animate, etc etc., and would end up taking months to do, but yes, it is possible.

Nurp, I believe that is not possible. As Ressy said, only the game creator has the source code. But you can still create presets which can represent cats, horses, birds, etc. So I wouldn't say 'It's not possible' to play as a bird here in feral heart, all you need is a bit of creativity and imagination! :) There are some new animations avaliable out there tho (more realistic walking, sitting etc. animations)

To add onto what Ressy said above, FH's creator left the game late 2011/early 2012 without any sort of heads up and hasn't been back since. The staff have tried to contact him, but he always ignores every message he receives and never responds. He has the source code, and has not shared it with FH's staff. The source code is what makes major changes (ex. new default maps, bug fixes, etc) possible for the game, and without it, the staff can only make minor changes (ex. "removing" general chat, fixing the server, etc). However, he did say a while back in a Facebook post that he currently has no interest in FH and isn't sure about giving up the source code yet. We'll just have to wait and see
If we were able to make updates, however, I'd doubt another model would be added. As great as another model would be, I feel like it would take away the whole "feral" theme with the game. I've seen many idea threads for more models, and usually this is what is explained. My best guess is that if there were to be another model added (against all odds), it would probably be a bear model, not a dear/horse/bird etc

As Tailgate said, I am indeed going to attempt something like adding new species. But I wont nessicarily be adding new models... I'm simply going to tweek the models that are already there.
