So I just got in, I have the new login page open, I went to the character creation screen, hit "OK" and now I'm just...in an endless field with a black mini map? What am I doing wrong?

Ohhhh, my bad! I thought you meant the entire map was pitch black.
That's a heightmap, and the reason it's black because you haven't made one. Or product because the landscape is flat?
Are you sure you're in the login. Usually if you press okay that's where you want to test out your preset(s) before exporting it.

Oh gosh darn it I know what I was doing--I hadn't even logged in! I was under preset maker xD d'oh... I'm sorry this was my fault. Also it's nice to meet you ;w;

I will lock this up since I believe the issue has been solved. If you create a heightmap for one of your maps, there will be a picture shown there in the tiny, black section. If you explore other maps in the game, you will notice that this box will have some sort of landscape image, which can serve as a "mini-map" for the game. The default maps in the game have a picture there because a heightmap was already created for those. Good luck in the game! c:
